As the made-up words of Auld Lang Syne drift off into the night, here at the Scout, we’d like to wish all our visitors a happy New Year!

Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to enjoy another superb twelve months. The new server setup that keeps us running on deadline day, the redesign, the Premier League columns – it’s been a fantastic year of progress once again.

We’re not quite sure what 2012 will have in store – although I am sure that we’re going to go on delivering the best Fantasy Football resource we can.

Plans are being hatched, progress already made behind the scenes. Ed our genius technical director is already playing with new toys. Pure Olivia is also working on new stuff and Sir Paulos is, as we speak, learning some new words. Commercial man Chris meanwhile, is finding some new pop-up adverts to annoy you all. It’s going to a big 2012!

A massive thanks goes to those guys and all the Scout contributors past and present – Granville, Andy, Akers, Greek Fan, Big Dunc, John, Money Mike, Anorak, Ryan Da Beeeez, Karl and Greg.

And, one again – thanks and Happy New Year to you – our visitors.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      If it's not for a hit then maybe. But it's an Everton DF with no attacking potential and what is basically a normal GW for them as they aint going to get anything from Spurs at WHL.

      Go for it if you're planning to WC after and just hope for a cleanie against Bolton

    I'm not feeling the love for all this Drenth-iness or Gallas. Everton's second game is Spurs away which is hard. And who knows what the Spurs central defence will be? I'm thinking of going Adebayor, Bale, VDV and Jagielka. The last named only used to raise money to do Walcott VDV. (BTW, will Spurs play the second stringers in the cup?)

      I'm not feeling the love for Drenthe having owned him for about 6 mostly unfruitful weeks, but I'll be damned if I'm getting rid now.

      Think Gallas is worth the risk though. He's very cheap and who's to say he's not 1st or 2nd choice now. He's played 6 consecutive games now and Spurs' DF has looked decent with him back in. Always a possibilty that Kaboul, King or Dawson could get his place but until they actually do I'd put Gallas as favourite right now. And for 4.8 thats a steal

    If LD plays well tomorrow
    ==================================
    ==================================
    Ship - Mata, Nani and Evans
    Pick up - VDV, Donovan and Baines
    8 point hit
    ==================================
    ==================================

    Makes my GW 20

    Vorm (Ruddy)

    Jones / Jose Enrique / BAINES (Caulker / Shotton )

    Silva / VDV [V] / BALE[C] / DONOVAN (Dyer)

    Van Persie / ADEBAYOR / Sturridge

    only lose .3 in value and I want to ship JEvans anyway

    ==================================

    Thoughts?

      Landon Donavon is ineligable until the Bolton game (and Moyes is as tight as a nuns **** when it comes to revealing his team) so I'm afraid you wont be getting any early indicators.

    after reading alot of posts over the last few days I feel there is too much emphasis on dgw players from everton

    osman I could possibly understand but I have seen names like drenthe, hibbert even rodwell being mentioned. Everton are struggling up top, 1 game or 2 really doesn't make a difference in my eyes so why the massive love?

    a) Verm -> Baines
    b) Verm & Ramsey -> Baines & Drenthe (4 point hit)
    c) Verm & Ramsey -> a 4.5m defender & VDV (4 point hit)
    d) Verm, Ramsey & Rooney -> Baines, VDV & Sturridge/Yak/Bongy (8 point hit)

    Westwood, Ruddy
    Vermaelen, JEvans, Simpson, Caulker, Wilko

    Already have Bale, BAE, Adebayor and Drenthe for the DGW, so probably not going to bother with any more Everton players.

    So, do you think I should use my FT at all this GW or save it?

    Evans may be a short term issue. I could swap Pilkington, I guess.
    Probably leaning towards saving the trade.

    Vorm/Ruddy
    Enrique Jones Evans BAE Simpson
    Nani Silva Bale Drenthe Pilkington
    RvP Adebayor Yakubu
    0.3m in bank.

        Getting rid of Nani for a hit prob isnt the best altho bringing in VDV ahead of a double would be the time to do it. big potential for vdv to score big this round. as far as everton mids go id wait and see how donovan plays and then re asses. if he doesnt seem a good option after tonight then drenthe or osman would be ur choices

      17 with 3 to play, look at the GW rank and that will tell you how well or in my case bad you've done.

          The only way I'll get 50 is if Silva scores about 17 and West Brom and Everton play to a 0-0 draw

                aguero could be rested mate!

                im pretty close to out. 10 point advantage plus silva and bonus for rvp (c) against larsson, yaya toure, aguero and kompany (c). gunna need some sort of crazy miracle (as in a silva goal or two and sunderland grabbing a couple and toure and aguero quite games or rested)

          im not sure if it was because of injury. he played 71 minutes so id be reasonably happy with that if i was a vdv owner.

    What are people doing captain-wise for GW20? I assume it is one of the Tottenham players. For me: Adebayor(c), Bale(v)

        to me it makes sense to [c] bale over ade for the clean sheet 1 point potential [ even though it is unlikely]

          Also Bale seems to score as often as Ade these days (though I can't be bothered to check the stats to confirm this!) and he gets 5 for a goal. I don't have Ade but think I'd choose Bale over him if I did.

        for me, Adebayor over Bale as he's slightly less of an injury or rotation risk. Also, given the position he plays, i'd say he's very likely to be involved inany Spurs goals.

          Haha what?
          Neither of them are rotation risks, neither of them have been rested or rotated once this season, and I am pretty sure they have played 80-90 minutes every game when fit.
          Bale has been roaming into CF lately also, just btw.

            And if one were to be more of a rotation risk over another, it'd be Adebayor.

            I know mate, but that was during a time when they had a week's rest in between games. The current situation is slightly different, so I'm just taking that into my considerations.

    Which player should I bench for GW 20: Nani, Silva, Bale, Drenthe, Walters, RVP, Adebayor or Sturridge?

      gunna have to be one of nani, silva, walters, rvp or sturridge. walters seems the most obvious choice except he has blackburn i think. or maybe silva since he plays pool. can't bench sturridge against wolves and don't think you want rvp on your bench. tough one mate. lemme know what you decide cuz i'll have a similar dilema
