As the made-up words of Auld Lang Syne drift off into the night, here at the Scout, we’d like to wish all our visitors a happy New Year!

Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to enjoy another superb twelve months. The new server setup that keeps us running on deadline day, the redesign, the Premier League columns – it’s been a fantastic year of progress once again.

We’re not quite sure what 2012 will have in store – although I am sure that we’re going to go on delivering the best Fantasy Football resource we can.

Plans are being hatched, progress already made behind the scenes. Ed our genius technical director is already playing with new toys. Pure Olivia is also working on new stuff and Sir Paulos is, as we speak, learning some new words. Commercial man Chris meanwhile, is finding some new pop-up adverts to annoy you all. It’s going to a big 2012!

A massive thanks goes to those guys and all the Scout contributors past and present – Granville, Andy, Akers, Greek Fan, Big Dunc, John, Money Mike, Anorak, Ryan Da Beeeez, Karl and Greg.

And, one again – thanks and Happy New Year to you – our visitors.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just for the DGW (then WC to fix mess), would you rather have:

    1) Silva + Hibbert
    2) Baines + Cahill (-4 for hit)

One of Adebayor or VDV, maybe both, will not play against WBA, so I'm bringing Defoe in for Ba.

Will wait to see Mancini's line-up for the Sunderland game before deciding which of Citeh's strikers will take the place of RVP.

    So I'll be playing:

    Sorensen

    Hibbert Brown Smalling

    Nani Bale(c) Mata Ramsey

    Sturridge Defoe Aguero/Dzeko/Balotelli

    Vorm, Formica, Caulker, Enrique

Not sure how Sir Alex will line up against Newcastle. There's a part of me thinking he will want to get revenge over Mancini in the FA cup and he might gamble resting a few players against Newcastle. Although his main focus should be on trying to win the league i think this could cloud his vision.

Not sure I can handle the uncertainty around VDV starting both (or even any) of the games in the DGW, so am going to plump for Verm -> BAE. Means I'll have 3 spuds but no toffees - enough coverage or should I take a hit for Ramsey -> any mid 8.9m or below (Drenthe perhaps...) Cheers

    Rotation watch:

BAE has started all league games. Rested 19 mins GW18 and 45 mins GW15.
Bale started all. Sat out GW16 with a knock. Is super human.
Adebayor started all. Missed 9 minutes back in October.

With Lennon being out, I think Bale will almost certainly play 2x90 in the DGW.
Adebayor might need a rest. Personally I hope he gets one soon, as I want him to last all season. The thing is, there are few alternatives, and
BAE might also need a rest, and Danny Rose might be suited to defend at home to WBA.

Non-conclusive analysis. But yeah... Adebayor is a slight worry. So was RVP though!

Given that BAE, Bale and Adebayor have hardly been rested this season, doesn't this also show that they're rotation-proof?

Redknapp does not rotate much. But at some point these lads might just be in dire need of a rest. If you see what I mean. Personally I think that BAE can be rested, but Bale and Adebayor is irreplaceable with the current squad.

Chelsea are in a transitional period. AVB trying to bring his philosophy to stamford
bridge. What people are failing to understand is that you cant teach an old dog new
tricks as we have an aged team and we cant just spurge hundreds of millions on players
who are "top class" and expensive. Its still a business, and noone is taking into account
financial fair play. Nothing happens overnight, change takes time. 1 step backwards
might be what Chelsea need to make 2 steps forward.

    Probably pointless early WC question, but which would you prefer for WC;
    A. Valencia, Senderos, Shawcross and Schwarzer (to rotate with Vorm)
    B. Nani, S.Kelly, Shotton and Ruddy.

I think the biggest impact of this dilemma is that you will have a middle-priced midfielder with Valencia. This makes him harder to swap with the big hitters. I am not sure, but somehow I lean towards B, but maybe with someone else than Nani. You see where I am going with this?

Btw, Shotton is a bit uncertain I believe.

Coverage is overrated as you well know Jack. I'm doing some draft teams too, and I have no United players at all in them so far. Will probably not look at them until after GW 27 when their fixtures look a lot better.
