Happy New Year From The Scout!

As the made-up words of Auld Lang Syne drift off into the night, here at the Scout, we’d like to wish all our visitors a happy New Year!

Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to enjoy another superb twelve months. The new server setup that keeps us running on deadline day, the redesign, the Premier League columns – it’s been a fantastic year of progress once again.

We’re not quite sure what 2012 will have in store – although I am sure that we’re going to go on delivering the best Fantasy Football resource we can.

Plans are being hatched, progress already made behind the scenes. Ed our genius technical director is already playing with new toys. Pure Olivia is also working on new stuff and Sir Paulos is, as we speak, learning some new words. Commercial man Chris meanwhile, is finding some new pop-up adverts to annoy you all. It’s going to a big 2012!

A massive thanks goes to those guys and all the Scout contributors past and present – Granville, Andy, Akers, Greek Fan, Big Dunc, John, Money Mike, Anorak, Ryan Da Beeeez, Karl and Greg.

And, one again – thanks and Happy New Year to you – our visitors.

                    If he keeps starting by time I WC then I think i'll just do it.
                    Worst comes to worst then Vorm can play each week, and the fixtures don't look to bad, he's outscoring the vast majority of rotaters at the moment each week anyway.

      Get as much information as you can to inform your decisions
      Coming back to a player you have already used and failed with, very rarely works second time round either.
      OOPs are a Godsend...mostly.
      Pick players that play.

      Confirmed in 2011 - Never, ever put FFS pre-season "sleeper" picks on your initial team (e.g., Boselli, Kolorov, Moses, Taraabt, etc.). After 6 weeks you will be so far behind in your leagues you will never catch up.

      I was thinking about taking an 8 point hit to do Verm, Ramsey & Rooney -> Baines, VDV and one of these 3.... Tough choice - I think Yak is great value, especially given the way BLA play and him being on form and pens. Given the wildcard is available soon, I'd probably feed the Yak.

          Still in all fairness, 9 of Rooney's 13 came in his first 5 matches, after that he dipped in form, and subsequently was slotted into midfield.

          I believe Yakubu has earned that 4th spot.

    1. When are people looking to wildcard? I think GW24 is best as fixtures get tough for TOT, MUN and ARS (who we've likely loaded up on), and fixtures get great for MCY (who we've likely unloaded in recent weeks).

    2. Best 3 MCY players to bring in for GW24 (currently have none). Thinking Aguero is a must, then it comes down to 2 from Richards, Kompany, Silva, Balotelli...

      Looking at your team I would say you have a good chance of benefiting from a hit to get in Bale or Adeabyor (slightly higher risk). I think the main problem is that you have two very cheap attacking players. I would upgrade NDyer or Morrison if I were you.

              N.Dyer was back in starting 11 and played 90 minutes last night. He did ok and might worth to stay until WC. Btw, I think Donovan cannot play today yet due to paperwork.

              I actually don't like a hit for DF, but it might be worth for DGW. It should be Walker or BAE imo. None of Everton DF worth a hit as they are likely to get just 1 CS from 2 matches.

                I am out of ideas, but I prefer BAE over Walker - he costs less, and I have also noticed that Walker has let his standards drop slightly in the last couple of weeks.

        I'm currently on Verm -> BAE, although did have a squeeze at Baines (big differential in my mini leagues). JEvans should play when fit I'm guessing so he's great value at 4.5, whereas Verm is a bit of a luxury at around 7m. Only concern is whether I'm missing a trick not having any EVE players for their double?...

          I'm ignoring EVE. They don't score enough goals and they concede. They'll struggle to get anything at TOT so you'd basically be picking their players for the BOL game.

    Silva about to drop for the first time this season.

    He has averaged between 13 and 25 pts from his last 3 games all season.

    Now he has 17 pts form his last 3 games.

    It will be interesting to see what happens today.

    If he scores less than 7 pts, his average from the last 3 GWs will drop to below 13 for the first time this season.

      err. tbh both aren't that great you'll have to play one of moses or reo coker every week with that defense, I wouldn't get gerrard or downgrade one of your strikers and upgrade your mid

        Ramires has sealed a CM spot.
        Romeu fits into a CDM role decently. Better to the order of infinity than Mikel. Lacks penetration to a certain extent but you can't complain.
        Essien is awesome. He can play anywhere in midfield & defence. I'd like to see him start with a CDM role & slowly get into a CM role with more match fitness. He might not have creativity but has immense pace & strength to beast any midfield in the world.

    The mid hit is to fund the Ba > Ade right? I think there's a great chance you'll make the 4 points up over the two games Ade will play (even if he only plays one I think he'll pick up a goal or two and bps).

    On the subject of Ba, any news yet on whether he'll play the QPR game before heading off?
