Peter Crouch notches a double to send Blackburn spinning to defeat, with their win at Old Trafford already a distant memory. Frank Lampard comes to the rescue for Chelsea at Wolves, while Wayne Routledge has plenty reason for celebration, after the winger scores a Premier League goal at long last…

Anthony Pilkington
If only there was more certainty to the Norwich midfielder’s game time, he’d be a far more popular Fantasy asset than his current 6.5% indicates. Pilkington had seemed to have nailed down a first-team place earlier in the season, starting all but one match from gameweek 2-14 but Paul Lambert’s rotation policy saw him miss out the following three matches completely. Pilkington has returned to the first XI over the last couple of games, though, and his equaliser at QPR means he has now netted 4 goals in his five full appearances for the Canaries this season. With 5 goals in total, he’s returned 65 points, only 5 behind Grant Holt, and at 5.1, still represents strong value amongst the low-priced midfield market.

Steve Morison
Prior to today’s game, Morison has gone two games without scoring or assisting for Norwich- the longest barren sequence since he established himself as a first-team fixture back in gameweek 5. The Welshman was benched by Paul Lambert for the trip to Loftus Road, with Simeon Jackson starting alongside Grant Holt after the former had bagged 2 goals in a couple of recent, brief sub appearances. Perhaps a rest done him good; Morison came off the bench to replace Holt midway through the second half and notched the Canaries late winner to once again demonstrate his remarkable Fantasy consistency.

Stephen Ward
Mick McCarthy made as many as six changes for the visit of Chelsea but Ward was, as always, on the team sheet- he is one of only two outfield players to play every minutes of the season so far for the Midlands outfit. The left-back grabbed Wolves equaliser in the 2-1 defeat, finding the net for the third time this season; he has now scored as many as Kevin Doyle and Sylvain Ebanks-Blake combined. His eye for goal perhaps accounts for Ward’s 10.6% of Fantasy owners, though with Wolves failing to chalk up a clean sheet since gameweek 3, he’s offering next to nothing defensively.

Steven Fletcher
Given that he’d suffered a knock in the previous game at Bolton, Fletcher was treated carefully by Big Mick and started the game on the bench. The Scotsman was afforded a half hour second-half sub appearance and found enough time to lay on an assist for Ward’s goal; he has now played a part in 6 of his side’s last 9 goals. Bearing in mind the above-mentioned poor form of the other Wolves strikers, Fletcher’s importance to the Wolves cause is increasing by the gameweek.

Ramires and Frank Lampard
With Daniel Sturridge unavailable, the Brazilian showed his versatility by playing wide right in the trip to Molineux. While Fernando Torres continued a run of games that has seen him fail to find the net since Gameweek 6 and with Juan Mata yet to score away from home this season, Ramires stepped up to the task by opening the scoring against the Midlanders. He has now grabbed 4 league goals this term, the same number as Mata. Lampard’s last-ditch winner means he is now Chelsea’s top-scoring FPL player, with 89 points to date. Despite his failure to establish himself as a first-team pick under Andre Villas-Boas, Lampard’s eye for goal is far from diminished- he has 8 goals for the campaign, only one less than Sturridge.

Wayne Routledge
We couldn’t fail to mention the Swansea winger after he finally broke his Premier League scoring duck after years of trying. Scott Sinclair dropped to the bench for the trip to Aston Villa, as Routledge –in his fourth start in the last five- joined Nathan Dyer on the wing. The duo vindicated Brendan Rodgers’ decision, scoring a goal apiece to bring Villa back down to earth after their win at Chelsea and no one will be happier than Routledge, who scored his first ever goal in the top flight at the 116th attempt.

Peter Crouch
Blackburn’s win at Man United was quickly forgotten after a Crouch double at Ewood Park clinched victory for Stoke. The former Tottenham man is starting to produce the goods with consistency for the Potters and has now bagged 5 goals and 4 assists in his last ten starts. Despite Jonathan Walters grabbing most of the attention, Crouch is as capable of finding the net at home or on the road- 4 of his 6 goals this season have been away from home, whereas Walters’ 5 have all come at the Britannia. With the maximum bonus points expected, he’d have also notched 9 from those ten games and at 6.8, he has just 1.8% Fantasy owners. Stoke have some strong fixtures on the horizon, particularly at home (WBA, SUN, SWA, NOR) and Crouch may prove a decent differential, for those looking for an alternative to Walters.

Stephen Kelly and Philippe Senderos
Kelly played his third full appearance in succession in Fulham’s win over London rivals Arsenal. The right-back provided an assist in the 2-1 comeback win and priced at 3.9, could prove to be a valuable Fantasy asset over the next few gameweeks, providing he keeps his first-team place. Martin Jol’s side have an incredible upcoming run of home games (NEW, WBA, STO, WOL, SWA, NOR) which will surely see their defensive options come under serious consideration, given their strong form at the Cottage. The same applies to Philippe Senderos; the centre-half now seems to be nailed-on as a first-choice pick alongside Brede Hangeland and comes in at 4.3. Fulham have conceded more than 1 goal in just 3 of Senderos’ twelve starts; without him in the side, they have conceded more than 1 goal on five of eight occasions.

Bobby Zamora
While rumours abound over his possible departure from the Cottage in this month’s transfer window, Zamora served a reminder of his capabilities by snatching all three points against Arsenal with a dramatic late winner. Recently sidelined with an Achilles problem, Zamora had played just six minutes of the previous five gameweeks, but when given the game time by Martin Jol, he has clearly produced. The forward has made a mere seven full appearances for the Cottagers this term and has now picked up 4 goals and 3 assists over those games; it’s an impressive record and one that only raises further questions as to why he’s not regarded as integral to the first-team.

Fulham defence is good but Schwarzer 4.8M is still waste for me when i have Vorm already. i'd rather keep Vorm/Krul than buy Schwarzer. Kelly at 3.9M is better way to enter Fulham team (he maybe rotated sometime but i play Enrique+Jones everyweek, so that's not matter)

After using Vorm/Krul combo for a long time, now i like to play Vorm everyweek + 1 cheapest GK to free the cash, also dont get Vorm CS on the bench again.

Repost (as lost on the end of the last one)

Decided on transfers for next week.

Was going to do Drenthe > Dempsey

But just realised could do Shawcross > Kelly
    Gower > Dempsey

    Leaving with

    Vorm, Krul
    Jones, Jagielka, BAE, Shotton, Kelly
    Nani, Bale, Dempsey, Walters, Drenthe
    RVP, Adebayor, Sturridge

Would like to avoid the hit, but would leave the team stronger overall I reckon?

exactly that. i'm sure they were aware. too aware maybe.

RvP is a big hitter so why not?

we've been going on about DGW and who to captain for ages (i hardly logged on yesterday because of all the Bale vs Ade vs VDV posts).

all the TOT choices could quite easily score 2 + 2 this week and RvP might have hit 3 past FUL.

with hindsight, it didn't work out for them but you never know.

    Happy New Year guys,

I'm pretty happy with my current squad/team, but with the wildcard in mind does anybody have any ideas on how I could best use it?

    Current squad:

    Vorm, Krul
    Enrique, Evans, Warnock, Caulker, BAE
    Nani, Bale, Walcott, Walters, Dyer
    RVP, Adebayor, Ba

I'm thinking mainly that obviously I need to switch out Ba, and also use the WC to tweak on Dyer, Walcott, Krul, Warnock and BAE subject to when I use it.

    Any suggestions welcome......thanks.

I would imagine there are vile things said and done on every football pitch in EPL every week. Most people involved in clubs probably can't/won't/don't want to see the difference between racism and all the other kinds of abuse.

    Morning chaps,

First, very early draft of my WC - care to comment?

    Vorm, Lindegaard
    Kompany, Skrtel, BAE, Evans, Senderos
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Valencia, Walters
    RVP, Sturridge, Yakubu

0.5 in bank (to do Sturridge -> Ba after African Cup of Nations)

Right, I dont normally post my team but... just had a very quick stab at my WC team and quite happy with it..

    Vorm, Ruddy
Evans, Enrique, Kompany, Simpson, Kelly (or a 4m Def eg Caulker)
    Bale, Silva, Sess, Moses, Dempsey
    Ade, RVP & Aguero.

To do this I have 0.1m in bank, team Ok for GW21 (except Ba & Drenthe) so wasnt going to press yet - problem is... Money is tight.

Do I hold off or press WC now?

Lacks a bit of United attack Evs (don't mention the swear word Nani).

I'll be looking at a cheaper third striker - Graham/Fletcher etc. Never touched Moses with a bargepole this season and probably won't start with my WC.

Very strong overall though. You won't be able to last out until the next gw with just £0.1m to play with surely?

BOL ars STO che LIV nor

and who to get ( I wont mention Nani, who I currently got). I could have Valenci for Bolton game, and bring Demps in later.

I want to hold but unsure... I need to have planning session on the wc v current team next 2 fixs. With exception of Ba & Drethre current team may (?) edge it !!!

I have a couple of questions and I need advice...

    1) Is Ba-->.Sturridge a good move and are there any better options?

    2) I'm thinking of doubling up on liverpool defense for the next 3 GWs. Is this a good idea?

    3) Who is more essential as city coverage Silva or Aguero? Both are not really in form lately but I reckon city will start banging goals soon.

    4) Anybody waiting for Henry to be added before WCing?

    5) Who to captain for next GW? Silva,Nani,Bale,Ade,RVP are my options. Tottenham have the easiest fixture but they play 3 days earlier.

      1. Not a lot really, if Sturridge is fit he is the best option at that price - maybe Bellamy for a punt if he gets gametime with Suarez' eventual ban.
      2. Yeah
      3. For the next few, toss a coin, after GW24 you should probably have both IMO
      4. Not really, he won't start enough and I have RVP

Thinking of bringing in Samba as he might be on his way to Spurs. I have 3 Spurs players now, if he goes to Spurs will i be able to have 4 for the rest of season if i keep Samba?

Yes, but it wont allow you to make a further transfer until you get rid of a Spurs player.

Wait, if he does it then pick him up.
By the way, if you get in 4 Spurs, you can't make any transfers after that without getting rid of one..

Is that much of a strong rumour?
Cahill to Chelsea, Samba to Spurs - goal scoring defenders in decent teams. What next - Huth to Man U? Raylor to Arsenal? Vermaelen to City?

He has started ONE match since last season. He's injury prone and also a rotation risk when fit.

My team looks like this so far......

        Vorm Ruddy
        Kelly Shotton Naylor BAE Jevans
        Silva Dempsey Moses Nani Bale
        Aguero Yak RVP

Any suggestions on improvements? I'm on my WC this week.

        Many Thanks

That's a nice team, but personally I don't think you need both aguero and silva for the next 3 weeks, maybe get in Rooney and then ditch for aguero in GW 24 or how about adebayor.

I can't afford Rooney unless I downgrade The Yak to Morison.
Ade seems like a good option though, although he will be ineligible in gk 22.

              What about:

              Vorm Ruddy
              Kelly Shotton Naylor BAE Jevans
              Silva Dempsey Moses Nani Bale
              Ade Studge RVP

Does this team seem more balanced? I will look to bring in Aguero in gw24 aswell.

See a lot of people here wildcarding who have very strong squads already. They're going to miss out on some January transfer bargains and their new teams mightn't even outscore their old.

Is it a case of itchy fingers ?

I'm not touching my wildcard until last week it's available. There's gonna be loads of players people will want to bring in over next few weeks and some bargains like g.cahill if he goes to chelski

Same here. It's all good and well gaining a bit more team value, but I think I'm more likely to have an advantage this way long term.

Just on the Keeper rotation thing this is what I worked out. Home in Caps as usual.

Foster/Schwartzer ( assssuming back in Feb)
    21 NOR 22 stoke 23 WEST BROM 24 SWANSEA 25 STOKE 26 SUND 27 WOLVES 28 villa 29 SWANSEA 30 NEWC 31 NORW 32 BLACKB 33 CHELSEA 34 QPR 35 WIGAN 36 VILLA 37 SUND 38 ARSENAL.
I really dont thinnk I can do better than that for home matches/rotation.
In fact I'm gonna get a def from each team too and double up at home every week 🙂

Thanks for all your help, hope this helps some of you out too.
