You might have noticed that Fantasy Football Scout has continued to grow this season. Hopefully, this will continue into next term and, with ideas and plans forming week on week, I’ve decided it’s time to look to add at least one new member to our team of contributors.

We’re looking for a writer to join Sir Paulos’ editorial team – someone who can commit their time and enthusiasm to the site, take charge of a section and make it there own. Hopefully someone who can grow with us and help us into another exciting season of development.

Ideally we’re looking for someone who…

  • Has a knowledge and passion, not just for Premier League football but for Fantasy Football. You will have opinions and be able to back them up with enthusiasm.
  • Is willing to volunteer and contribute their passion and their time to become an invaluable member of a growing editorial team.
  • Has good, strong writing skills with the ability to produce tight, entertaining editorial – in line with the house style, but with a twist of personality.
  • Is available to contribute opinions throughout the week and at weekends, helping to shape decisions and editorial direction within the Scout team.
  • Is available to contribute articles on a weekly basis and be prepared to take charge of an established section of the site, making it their own and working in collaboration with the team to grow it further.

If you feel you’d like to put yourself forward for this role, please send a short summary of yourself, along with a sample of your writing to writers@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

If you don’t have any samples of writing available, please supply a Watchlist article – of a player of your choice, written to our template, an example of which can be found here.

This process is typically lengthy and it’s likely that Sir Paulos and I will be looking at applications from now right through until the end of January. Please be patient with us, we will try to get back to applicants as soon as possible and we will keep you up to date with the process via the site as we go.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ta. Always wonder what general method you are using to predict BPs. Are you trying to predict PPI from game stats / ICT scores? Doing that by some regression analysis ?

Glad Silva got some points since I kept him whilst others were trading him out. I see Suarez has decided not to appeal his Evra suspension, which is strange since Liverpool backed themselves into a corner with no other option than appeal. And huzzah for chosing Bale over Adebayor as captain. Still another Tott game to go though.

    B) Westwood(4.4) -> Guzan (will play Vorm if not and playing Drenthe)

So he ditches one of his big signings after half a season? Nah, you have to be realistic. Valencia is in great form but has plenty of competition in a notoriously rotating team and it could all be different in 2 GWs, let alone 10. I have him... as long as he is in the team.

Young shouldn't be anywhere near a top 4 starting team tbh he's poo. But doubt Fergie won't play his big signing.

However Valencia has been far better than Nani last 4-5 weeks and every good attack seems to go through him really can't see him being dropped ahead of Nani unless he picks up his form.

Then again sturridge for next 3 and then switching to odem in gwk24 could work. but that would involve weakening my already weak defense as enrique is more consistent than say samba/dunne/bosingwa/BAE/shawx

I reckon a lot of points lie in working out each GW which players Spurs have available, what kind of game Spurs are playing and who the key players in that system are.

The key players this year have fluctuated wildly from Ade, to VDV and Ade, to Bale and VDV, to Bale and Ade, and plenty of twists are to come. There are further complications with Defoe and Lennon drifting in and out of the side and Modric beginning to become an option.

Add to that at least three formations (4-4-1-1, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3) with extensive usage of wingers in the centre and central players out wide, plus current injury doubts on holding mids Parker and Sandro, and it's reaching City levels of uncertainty.

Any methods you use to optimize Spurs player selection?

          VDV, Ade, Bale? Well... πŸ™‚

FWIW I considered the Spurs coverage problem a while ago and made conscious effort to watch their games, understand their system and thus get the key players. It did pay off to some extent as it led me to take Bale and Ade and ditch VDV a good while ago. Recently though injuries have forced another change of style and I'll need to watch some more to unlock it.

If interested, this is basically what I concluded. Spurs generally are set up to play down the flanks (4-4-1-1) or through the centre (4-2-3-1).

4-4-1-1: Generally, I think they prefer to play down the flanks but this requires Lennon and Bale to both be available. In this system, Parker and Modric are CMs with Bale and Lennon aiming to cross and cut inside. Ade is the target man and VDV holds the ball up and shoots a bit further out. Ade, Bale, Lennon do best here.

4-2-3-1: Parker and Sandro are the two holding midfielders with Spurs playing through the centre. Modric is central in the midfield trio with Bale on his left and VDV on his right, Ade up front. Spurs play through the centre with Bale given a free role, often drifting very central. The difference here is that Ade holds the ball up more to create chances for the trio behind him instead of vice versa. To provide the lost width, fullbacks BAE and Walker overlap a lot. Recent examples of this are BAE's cutback assist and Ade holding the ball up for Bale to score against Norwich. Bale and VDV do best here with a boost for fullbacks too.

Unfortunately, last night's injuries mean Spurs have doubts over Sandro, Parker and Lennon so none of the above systems can work. Defoe returning throws a spanner into the works as he plays as an out-and-out striker competing with Ade and VDV for goals. Honestly don't know what Harry will play next week if all are absent - possibly 4-4-Ade-Defoe with Kranjcar and Modric in the middle and Bale and VDV on flanks.

I dont think its that complicated

Bale , Adebyou and BAE start nearly every game and consistantly deliver returns
They are nothing like Man c and are not rotation risks.

Hey All I never usually do RMT but ive spent the last few nights chopping and changing checking stats and all sorts for my Wild Card Team. Im quite happy apart from Tiote but dont expect to play him much unless really neccesary. So heres the team 0.0 left.
    What You think ?

    Friedel (Sorensen)
Assou-Ekotto Evans Richards Jose Enrique (Caulker)
    Nani Bale Silva (Sessegnon) (Tiote)
    Van Persie Yakubu Aguero

My old team did well up untill about two weeks ago when I fell from 4th to 12th in a league of 50. Wildcarding early before I cant afford the changes.

    My previous team was
    Friedal,Sorenson
    Shotton evans Richards, Enrique, Simpson,
    Larrson,Bale, Silva, Nani, Drenthe,
    Van Persie, Sturridge, Adebayor.

Changes wereas below and reasons why
Shotton .> Assou Ecotto( Spurs Clean Sheets and odd assist, Shotton not nailed on starter)
Simpson > Caulker( Swansea defence more solid since his arrival and he pushes forward) Newcastle starting to leak goals)
Larrson> Sessegnon( Sessegnon Playing up front, Goals and assists, having great season)
Drenthe> Tiote ( To Free up money)
Sturridge> Yakubu( The Yak is back, great record when fit, feed the yak and he will score., Chelsea hit and miss)
Adebayor>Aguero (Aguero goal machine tiped by Mancini for 30 Goals this season, Adebayor may play everygame but the odd poor game).

What you think of new squad and my opinions.

Like where you are going with the team but you might want to take a look at BAE fixtures after week 22 and Tiote will be leaving for ACON to the best of my knowledge.

not sure if doubling up on spurs defense is the greatest idea. especially if vdv or ade get on a good run you don't have a spot for them cuz you already have 3 spurs. think vorm is a better swansea defense than caulker and I think its wise to keep one newcastle defender, simpson is good for this, as he is cheap and they are a good team. you also have a decent amount of money in defense between richards, enrique, bae and friedel which I think could be better spent in midfield (upgrading tiote to a slightly better sub).

personally think i like ade and sturridge over yak and aguero but up to you

Seeking some advice, Purchased Ba at 6.3 and would lose 0.7 if i sold him. Does anybody have any idea how much he could drop before he comes back from the ACON? Am seriously thinking about leaving him on the bench.

I would say he would drop 0.2 or max 0.3 mill.

I think you should make the change, he could lose 0.4 maybe more, it would be hard to leave a striker on the bench for a few weeks, Value to be got in other low priced strikers. Take Yakubu for example

His price could fall through the floor. FPL players seeing him absent for weeks in a row won't wait. 0.5+ fall is probable.

Assuming 0.2 in the first week, then 0.1 every week after that. Senegal should make it to playoffs so he will be out of action for about 4 weeks. You can do the maths.

Unless you are playing in a money league I can't see any point holding onto him.

Thanks for the replies. So it looks like he would plummet in price. Just one more thing am not sure how the protection works when a player is red flagged. Would Ba be protected after being red flagged?.Not sure how that system works.

      Just write

      Friedel (Sorensen)
Assou-Ekotto Evans Richards Jose Enrique (Caulker)
      Nani Bale Silva (Sessegnon) (Tiote)
      Van Persie Yakubu Aguero

Wouldn't want to be playing 4 at the back alot. Doubling up on Spurs defence might not work either.

when so many people own bale, and when he has gone up so much in value, i feel there is no need in gettin bale as losing four points on a player who every1 has makes me not want to get him! but the amount of times he has screwed me over annoys the hell out of me

BAE fixtures aren't too good after wolves(h), and cant think of another cheap option in place of moses? Dyer seems to have been given a decent run in a very good swans team as opposed to moses who's picking up scraps in a very bad wigan one. That was my thinking on that.
