With the elongated Gameweek 20 finally sewn up, it’s time to look ahead to the weekend action. For eight fantasy managers, that means Quarter-Final time in the Paddy Power Cup V. Having battled through eight stages, they are just one win away from the prize-winning games. Here is the line-up…

At the time of writing, first out of the hat Sc8tt26 is the highest-ranked fantasy manager left, and is the only one in the top 1000 overall. If he’s considered the top-seed, then he’s been drawn against the second in Funkyav. Was it not for an abysmal Gameweek 20 score, the tables would be turned and Funkyav would be the man to beat.

Declan faces-off against Raasclart, whilst the last round’s top-scorer, CSKA AWFUL, takes on sleepingmaster. Finally, having reached the Quarters by the skin of his teeth, ChickenDevil comes up against soulman27.

      I somehow thought that frontline would buy you more bang for your buck in midfield. i.e. Mata / Nani... Or a Vermalen/Evra in defence.... Still nice balance anyway.

      If you're not interested in big hitters up front then take out McAuley from your defence for someone with a chance of clean sheets - Skrtel/Enrique?

      Its not a bad team, it just looks a bit weak without that extra 5 mil in it because the big boys will eventually get you big scores.

          Agreed but when you've got enough money to swap McClean to Silva I think you do. But then again that can wait a couple of weeks for him to heal up... Quite fancy Aguero against Wigan though..

      I also like have a good chunk of cash in the bank to tweak. I'm also not interested in Nani, Aguero and Rooney. My w/c team looks a lot like yours. I just need the balls to go against public opinion and stick to my plan.

    Funkyav is the only name I recognise up there, so hope he wins it. I'm partisan like that.

    I have 7.5 for a midfielder for a three week punt to replace Osman, considering Ramires, Milner, AJ, Anderson, Maxi, Danny ****KLAXXON**** Murphy....anyone have another suggestion?

    My midfield is currently Valencia, Bale, OSMAN, Ben10, Drenthe.

        Strangely enough I have stats and data that tells me Cabaye is a bad punt for the next few. Sess is worth a thought alright. Leaning towards Ramires or Danny Murphy at the moment.

      If you considering Ramires, have a think about Meireles too. Good shooting stats at present and when he scores he usually goes on a little 2/3 week spree. Ask JamsieP on that one i suppose.

    This is my potential WC but not entirely sold on it.

    Vorm, Sorenson
    BAE, Skrtel, Smalling, Williamson, Caulker
    Silva, Bale, Valencia, Sessegnon, Walters
    RVP, Sturridge, Aguero.

    1.7m in the bank

    A) upgrade one of sess/walters to someone like Dempsey
    B) Valencia -> Nani, or
    C) leave it and play the fixtures. Wait to see player transfers.

      A) I have a very similar team but have Dempsey instead of /sessegnon. He scores highly every season with consistency. Surely the Sunderland O'neill honeymoon period will be over soon and Sess will be back to smaller points.

      If you look at Valencia's previous few games he's been on fire and there's nothing to suggest that it will stop.

      67 vs. 79
      38 vs. 42
      53 vs. 24
      73 vs. 47

      2 close (ish) loses and 2 big wins, suck on that scout boy 😛

      P.S. 109% of the total score is not the same as captaining a high scoring player. If you assume Bale (probably the most popular choice) would have been captain, the score would have been 55.

      Not attila, but I think that both santon and willo are nailed on. Santon is the better player, but both should get similar points, Santon (assists and bonus), willo (goals from corners). Simpson is decent, but could be rotated with raylor. Something to watch is Santon's knee, its a bit dodgy.

      Depends when you got him in and how much money you'll get back for him. If you got him recently and can get 6.0 back then it's all good but if he's only worth 5.5 for you there's no better options really for that price. He can get assists as well as CS's

      I would say Simpson. Although Williamson is nailed on till Saylor returns which is till the end of the season so.....

      Caulker has played everygame he is fit, and is better in all respects. Dont think Taylor is much of a rotation risk though.

      Kilgallon is crap. end off

        Simpson might be rotated with raylor. Santon is a million times better than the both of them, so should be nailed on a left back.

          Its a fair point. There are 3 full backs and 2 centre backs. Stands to reason Williamson and Coloccini are nailed on forever.
