The previous calendar year was a topsy-turvy one for Stephane Sessegnon. A marquee signing from Paris St. Germain in last January’s transfer window, many backed the diminutive midfield dynamo to steal the show in a Sunderland side hardly famed for its flair.

Sessegnon’s difficulties in adjusting to life in England were initially reflected in Steve Bruce’s inability to find a settled home for him in a combative midfield but, when a late-season injury crisis saw the Benin international reborn as a stand-in striker, a flurry of goals made him a key differential as mini-league races reached a crescendo. Carrying that form into a devastating pre-season, hopes were high for a profitable campaign.

By October, that optimism seemed a distant memory; a single assist from the first eight gameweeks brought an average of just 2.6 points per game and saw Sessegnon’s price in free fall. Two double-digit gameweeks were followed by a further prolonged period in the doldrums and, in a game in which consistency is a prized asset, a bulimic tendency towards feast and famine rarely fosters a loyal following. Fierce competition amongst the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mid-priced midfielders saw Sessegnon fall by the wayside as players with the security of dead-ball duties made the early running.

Martin O’Neill’s arrival on Wearside has breathed new life into Sunderland’s stuttering season and Sessegnon has been a notable beneficiary of the growing confidence at the Stadium of Light. A total of 31 points in his last four games have seen him eclipse Seb Larsson as the side’s top FPL point-scorer. Coupled with this upturn in form is the news that O’Neill is determined to rebuff a growing crowd of suitors and has publicly challenged Sessegnon to become “a proper centre forward”. With Connor Wickham still finding his feet in the Premier League and Nicklas Bendtner cheerfully maintaining his hard-won reputation for unreliability, Sessegnon may get the chance to rise to that challenge with home games against Norwich and Swansea just around the corner.

As wildcard season gathers pace and Fantasy managers look to wring every last penny out of their squads, Sessegnon’s 6.5 price represents a significant saving over Larsson’s 6.9, and with budget upstart James McClean yet to firmly establish himself in the side, Sessegnon looks set to be the prime target for those looking to capitalise on two tempting home ties for a buoyant Black Cats.

    Howard (Vorm)
    Evans, Enrique, BAE, (Warnock, Jagielka)
Ben Arfa, Nani, Silva, Bale (Moses)
    Sturridge, RVP, Ade
    (0.2m in the bank)

    Good evening,

Looking for 2nd, 3rd, etc... opinion! Please 🙂
My initial WC team for GW21 was set...

Vorm (Sorensen) - swapping Vorm for Schwarzer as soon as he is back
Jones-Richards-BAE (Santon 1st sub, Shotton 3rd sub) - swapping Jones for Riise before GW23 and BAE for Rangel before GW25
    Silva-Mata-Bale(vc)-Nani(c) (McClean 2nd sub)
Ade-RVP-Yak Ade-->Bellamy for GW22-23 and see what next, Ba when he gets back

    0.6 left

All pretty but I'm far behind everybody and most of my players have high ownership, therefore not much of differentials in there...
Made some bad decision of keeping VDV when he was injured, wrong captains and swapping players right and left 🙂
Would like to ask what you guys think about this idea... WC for GW21

Lindegaard (Sorensen) - swapping Lindegaard for Schwarzer as soon as he is back
Terry-Richards-BAE (Santon 2nd sub, Shotton 3rd sub) - swapping BAE for Risse in coming weeks
    Dempsey-Mata(c)-Bale(vc)-Valencia (Sessegnon 1st sub)
Ade-RVP-Yak Ade-->Bellamy for GW22-23 and see what next, Ba when he gets back
    0.9 left

    Thank you!

    Hi guys!

Taking beatings left, right and centre at the moment so would appreciate your help. Stuck in Jags for Kompany, then transfered Kompany back in a drunken fury after the injury. And went for Walker over BAE after 2nd place had a go at me (he had BAE). AND took out Ba before the Utd game, sending me out of the cup. So I would love a bit of a pick me up with advice!! Tell me if you think this is a decent WC to play if you could?

    CURRENT TEAM:
    Vorm (Ruddy)
    Kompany-----Walker------Enrique (Caulker, De Laet)
    Bale-----Nani------Silva------Walker (Ferguson)
    Adebayor----RVP----Sturridge

    TO:

    Vorm (Cerny)
    Walker----Cahill----Enrique (Caulker, De Laet)
    Bale----Mata-----Silva----Sessegnon
    Ageuro----RVP-----Sturridge

    Basically:
    Cahill for Kompany
    Mata for Nani
    Sessegnon for Walker
    Adebayor for Aguero

De Laet is just a reserve player though, i've never had to have 2 players come in (though Cahill might be benched and Silva may not play). I wondered about Aguero and Silva. But Silva i've had since the start, so would be losing a chunk of pts if i ever wanted him back. Also worry i'm missing a Utd player. But Ade has definitely had his chance!

I've gone with both Aguero and Silva, City have strong fixtures and they can destroy teams.

De Laet is a mystery though.

Hey Isacki.. after tinkering for 10 days and countless hours i have concluded my defense for WC GW24 with..

      Vorm+Stockdale/Schwarzer
      Vermaelen Richards Evans Simpson Shotton..

which was the 1st defense draft I came up with 10 days ago.. 🙁

      Thoughts ??

        FUL/SWA

        ARS MCI MUN NEW/STO

NEW/STO is a decent rotation (6th best) to maximize home games.

Until the end of the season, STO fixtures are some of the best of the lot.

So yes, if you're okay with two expensive defenders - go for it!

Actually it will be a New/Stoke/Mun rotation in a 3-4-3

How good would this triple rotation be ??

            NEW/MUN rotation is 5th best
            NEW/STO rotation is 6th best
            MUN/STO rotation is 7th best

Could rotate a bit better - you may have a few more games away than other rotations. Of course the quality of the actual fixtures matter and only China Mag has tested that - he didn't test that one but a similar one MUN/NEW/STO + FUL came out as the best rotation of the ones I saw so it probably is pretty good.

I would go for it, unlikely you can't get a good fixture from that especially with MUN!

It doesn't work a 100% for me either. I tend to get notifications a great while after the actual responses are given (or not at all), the only ones I can remember getting are when I've replied to my own comment for some reason.

It's a great function to have since comments disappear pretty fast in the masses, but it doesn't work as it should.. :/

Still tweaking my wc team. What pair of defenders would you want?

    1. Clark (oop) reasonable fixtures and Senderos (Good fixtures).

    or

    2. Cahill (Off to Chelsea and cheap way into defence) and Kelly (good fixtures but not neccessarily nailed on starter)

    Rest of Team

    Krull/Vorm

    Clark Shotton Senderos Richards Enrique

    Bale Silva Gerrard Dempsey McClean

    Van Persie Yakubu Rooney

Any other comments welcome Thank You.

    Current team
    Vorm/Al Habsi
    Enrique/Kompany/BAE/Simpson/Gabiddon
    Bale/Nani/Silva/Drenthe/Ferguson
    RVP/Ade/Sturridge

Kompany out, Ferguson useless and Silva questionable...

Do you guys think I should:
    a. WC
    b. Kompany-> Richards
    c. Drenthe -> HBA

With Savic out you may want to avoid the City defence but Richards offers attacking threat down the right I guess. Warning that Wigan are quite a tough cookie actually as their Chelsea 1-1 and Liverpool 0-0 shows.

Infuriatingly, I wouldn't put it past Drenthe to play away to Villa, especially after his exciting and bloody annoying cameo at Spuds.

Richards yes... HBA for -4 NO.

Just give Drenthe a run in till you wildcard.. should have had an penalty yesterday in the 15 mins he came on for..

And with so many injuries to Eve he should atleast start the home game against Blackburn GW22.
He can replace Ade for you who will benched against city anyway..

Hmmm assuming you'll keep Komp for GW23, Drenthe is the only one I'd consider taking out atm, and even then maybe Moyes might start him after another swashbuckling cameo for his awful team. Jones just possibly downgrade to Evans or another cheapie with a good CS chance. I don't think you can touch RVP or Nani for the sake of one game which they might both score in.

Wouldn't say you need to WC in GW22.

Yeah my belief in Moyes' sense is heavily diminished...

But exactly, your squad can definitely wait. You've got a decent 11 and not too many bad reserves. Waiting til the end of January may well give us late WCers a serious advantage to cope with injury/transfer madness.

Worth doing Ruddy to Stockdale, just for the next three weeks before wildcarding? He has (bla, NEW, WBA), so would mean I wouldn't have to play Vorm against ARS or CHE. Firstly, is this a good idea in principle, and secondly, is Schwarzer out for long enough to make this work?

    Lindegaard
    Enrique, BAE, Simpson, Smalling
