David Silva’s ankle problem isn’t as bad as first feared. Thierry Henry undergoes extra fitness sessions as he pushes for a start against Swansea, Scott Parker could return for Spurs, while Darron Gibson joins Everton from Man United:

Owners of David Silva will be relieved to hear that the diminutive Spaniard is due to resume training tomorrow and could be ready to face Wigan. The Monday evening kick-off could serve as a blessing, affording Silva a couple of extra days to recover from the ankle injury which kept him out of the mid-week cup defeat to Liverpool. Silva saw a specialist on Wednesday and the injury will be assessed today once the swelling has gone down. Assistant manager David Platt, who also admitted Mario Balotelli is a doubt for the Latics showdown, said:

David did a bit of running yesterday and will do a bit more today. Hopefully he will be back on the training pitch tomorrow.

Harry Redknapp is hopeful that Scott Parker will recover from a knee problem in time for tomorrow’s game with Wolves. Parker hasn’t featured for Spurs since limping off in the New Year’s Eve draw at Swansea. Redknapp conceded Ledley King isn’t yet ready to return from a hamstring problem, while Sandro and William Gallas remain sidelined, due to calf tears.

Arsene Wenger has revealed Thierry Henry is undertaking extra training sessions to build up his fitness ahead of the weekend’s trip to Swansea. Henry came on as a second half sub in last Monday’s FA Cup clash with Leeds and has admitted he is short of playing the full ninety minutes. Wenger, speaking to Arsenal Player earlier, said:

Thierry wants to help out so he makes extra sessions to try and get back to his full fitness. He is not there yet but he is not far from the level he was at when he left here [in 2007]. He is fit enough to start a game but not fit enough to last or play the whole thing. Those are the decisions I always have to make considering the balance of the team. Does he sometimes start? Does he sometimes come on? That’s what I have to decide. He is in the squad for Sunday.

Wenger also admitted he intends to utilise the talents of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain more often over the new few weeks. The youngster has featured just once for the Gunners in the league so far, coming on as a second half sub in the 8-2 defeat at Old Trafford back in gameweek 3, but played in the FA Cup game with Leeds, with his manager admitting:

He is very close now and he will be used in the next six months for sure. He is working on his defensive side, his urgency and his committed level as well. When you are a young, talented player you have to experience that talent is good, but that commitment at the top level is highly needed too. I am very happy with him. I am confident that in the next few weeks he will play.

Alan Pardew has praised unsung defensive duo Mike Williamson and Davide Santon for their recent contributions to the Newcastle back-four. While Pardew’s plaudits will perhaps increase Fantasy interest in Santon, in particular, they may be a little unnerving for owners of Ryan Taylor. Taylor, who has been playing much of the season at left-back, looks like he could be ousted from that position by the Italian under-21s captain. Pardew said of Santon:

He can play both sides and he gives us a massive weaponry. But at the moment, left-back, he looks like he has probably got the nod.

Everton have confirmed the signing of Darron Gibson from Manchester United in a four and a half year deal. The Irishman will be available for immediate selection, meaning he could make his debut on Saturday at Villa Park. Gibson will be a welcome addition to David Moyes’ midfield, and with injuries to Leon Osman and Jack Rodwell, could go straight into the side. Gibson has featured just once for United this season, providing an assist in their win over Wigan.

There has been some welcome injury news for Blackburn boss Steve Kean, with Paul Robinson and Junior Hoilett both in contention to play against Fulham tomorrow. The duo have missed a fair amount of time over the last few weeks and their potential return would be a massive boost to Rovers’ survival hopes. Meanwhile, Scott Dann is still around a week away from a return and Martin Olsson has trained successfully and is also in contention to start against the Cottagers.

Chelsea’s Gael Kakuta has joined French side Dijon on loan for the rest of the season. In the hope that he’d do a Daniel Sturridge, Chelsea farmed Kakuta out to Bolton for the first half of the campaign, but the youngster was afforded just 72 minutes game time by Owen Coyle.

I think I'm gonna go for VDV. I can afford a lip up in my mini-leagues, well as long as RVP didn't then go and score a hat-trick. I just wish Spur were playing on Sun/Mon as I hate (C) player in sat 3pm games

Agueroplane or Roonpig.com? Tempted to go with Rooney in the hope that he turns his performance against Citeh into a decent run of form and because he's at home to Bolton who he netted a nice 17 points against at the Reebok. But Aguero looks like a better long term investment with better fixtures and is just pure class. But (is average away from home and) doesn't. Play. 90. Minutes. ENOUGH!!!

It's a good short term differential and Henry isn't as injury prone as RVP and is also a bargain at 7.5 so can spend money elsewhere.

    Krul (Vorm)
    BAE Jones Simpson Enrique
    Valencia(C) Bale(V) Nani
    Adebayor RVP Sturridge

    Subs: Osman Brown Walters (0.7)

Looks like I best make a transfer this week, with only Walters on the bench who will play, and Jones and Simpson touch and go.

The only move I'm tempted to do is Osman > Cabaye and play Cabaye ahead of Simpson.

Any better transfers come to mind which will make the bench stronger too?

    repost

ok folks was just pondering if it was possible to have a team with attacking coverage from all the big 6 (United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool) I came up with this

    Sorensen, Schwarzer

    Evans, Richards, Senderos, BAE, Santon

    McLean, Bale, Gerrard, Silva. Dempsey

    Welbeck, RvP, Sturridge

Would have loved Mata and Aguero instead of Silva and Sturridge, but unless I go for Barfa over Dempsey it’s not possible, and obviously it would be determined by whether Rooney and Welbeck is Fergie’s first choice strike partnership. But in general, what do people think?

When Ba gets back I will either remove Welbeck or Sturridge and put Valencia in (if needed) for Gerrard/Silva)

Right now im going for Nani, he just gotta score big soon again and dont think the teams in my minileague (curr 5th place) will C Nani.. Guess Ade is a gamble as well, the smart choice seem to be VdV or RvP... well, VdV!

Nah he's played quite badly recently, I was all up for dropping de gea for the entire season I was so livid at his inability to come for crosses but Lindegaard looked so shakey and he conceeded a couple of goals he couldnt do anything about but he also didn't do anything special and I remember thinking perhaps he could have done better with a couple of shots.

I wouldn't be suprised to see de gea start tomorrow, if I had to guess it would be Lindegaard but dont count on it

Fergie seems reluctant to play him, I wouldn't gamble on it. He's unlikely to do anything special even if he does play - quite attacking but rarely gets an assist - often gets a yellow as well.

Who's going to be playing in defence for Arsenal, then? If Mertesacker, Vermaelen, all the full backs and Coquelin are injured..

Djourou Squallaci Bosscielny A. N. Other?

May have to get rid of the Boss in that case. Can't see that side keeping any clean sheets.

It's coming across from some people that Evans is suddenly a nailed on starter for Man U. Not sure why people are thinking that, as it seems anything but.

It seems to me that he'll play around half of their remaining games so he'll always be a selection risk every GW and will mean having to have a decent defender on the bench.

I must be missing something and Fergie must have said something to suggest otherwise. United's strongest defence IMO is Evra Jones Ferdinand Smalling... with Rafael/Jones sometimes playing RB and Evans sometimes playing alongside Ferdinand.

Don't know how much of Jones you've seen but Evans has looked a much more accomplished CB than him this season. I'd always favour Evans to start when Jones plays in midfield. Ferdinand can't be trusted to be fit for every game. Evans is more than worth it at that price.

Yeah I think so, can't see turner or bramble coming straight in when they're fit. Although like I say Killgallon not done anything wrong yet so could even see O'Shea Brown Killgallon Bardo, although the above seems much more logical. Apart from Sess, McClean is most exciting player we have at mo and he's giving us something on the left that we've not had for seasons. Plus I think the fact he works so hard defensively as well, should secure his place for the forseeable future.

RVP I have loads of profit tied up in and Henry seems to be a bargain at 7.5 - should hopefully rocket in price when he first scores.

Aguero would seem to be a better long term class up front, but so many have hm and ties up cash. Ba isn't available, Adebayor I already have VDV & Bale. Rooney too expensive.

Need some differentials as doing badly this year compared to top 7000 and top 5000 last 2 years respectively, I'm at about 800,000 this year at the moment.
