As the papers speculate over the January sales, and the yuletide shocks and shockers grow distant in memory, the Fantasy Flutter is back.

For those of you new to the Scout, and for those of you who partook in a little too much of the festivities to remember, we take a crisp ten pound note and spread it over Paddy Power’s special markets – all bets inspired by our Scout Pick selection and Fantasy thinking…

The Baggies host Norwich this weekend with the visitors boasting an unflattering record of zero clean-sheets in twenty matches, a claim shared with only relegation favourites Blackburn Rovers. For Peter Odemwingie, this looks like a fantastic opportunity to help claw West Brom away from the bottom three. Paddy are posting a reasonable 13/5 for the Nigerian to score and West Brom to win, but go big at 9/1 for him to score and assist – he’s achieved this one in his best return of the season back in Gameweek 17 at Newcastle. We’ll take Ā£2 on Odemwingie pulling this off again with the obliging Canaries in town.

Clint Dempsey’s Fulham are another club featuring in the lower divide, but they do at least appear to be on the ascent. With real quality in the squad, Fulham might have been expected to be comfortably placed in the top ten by this point of the campaign. Two home matches follow today’s visit to Blackburn, giving Martin Jol’s side a chance to take a giant stride away from the danger zone. Dempsey is gelling well with the trickery of Mousa Dembele and the flair of Bryan Ruiz and the American will be looking to add to his six-goal haul this weekend. With Paddy’s odds looking inviting, Scout Pick Dempsey could yet put a bit of cash in our pockets. Dempsey to score and Fulham to win at Ewood at 7/2 takes Ā£4 of our tenner in this week’s top bet.

Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa is yet to get a shake of the dice since coming back from that crushing broken leg. Understandably, Alan Pardew has been reluctant to make changes to his Newcastle’s line-up, but with African Cup of Nations absentees and an increasing list of injuries, Ben Arfa looks set to be handed a stage to demonstrate his talents. As he’s fairly unproven, Paddy are offering 12/1 on a goal and assist at home to QPR, but we’re going to go safe and take a Ben Arfa goal and Newcastle to win at 12/5 for Ā£2.50.

Our ‘who will score the most’ market this week features Wayne Rooney, fresh from a thrilling cup derby, Emmanuel Adebayor looking to win back some friends following a double Gameweek dry spell and Blackburn’s saving grace, Yakubu. The odds all shout home fixtures, so there’s nothing to jump up and down about, but, following his header at City, we’ll back Scout Pick Wayne Rooney at 6/5 to outscore the other pairing for our remaining Ā£1.50.

Money Back Special

Paddy’s refund special backs this season’s Fantasy darling. If Robin van Persie scores the last goal at the Liberty when Arsenal take on Swansea, Paddy will refund all losing first and last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free Ā£20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

I'm dead scared of this with no ManU forward coverage... But have been saying that for a while. If I had Rooney or Nani, I think given thd context of no Cahill and the NCL defeat last week, they'd be in possession of the armband. I have Bale and VDV and I think one of those two will be mine, but I hate the thought of not really seeing RVP v a newly promoted team as a viable capt choice... Swansea v Arsenal will be an interesting game that I can't predict.

The sensible thing seems to be Bale captain, which has had me second guessing last night.

I think I have to stick with my gut feeling though and go with Nani, as think Utd could go crazy on Bolton today. Plus Bale has had the extra game midweek.

      Valencia.
Man U should run away with this one and V is consistent, on form and a diff.
      Aguero could easily not play.
RVP is away to tight arse Swans without Gervinho who provides a lot of his assists.
Lots of people are captaining Bale and you probably have one or two more Tott as insurance anyway

    Morning all,
looking to shoe horn Rooney for Ade into the team for a potential captain and big score (hopefully!) vs Bolton without Cahill - where would you make the cuts (using the WC):

    Vorm / Krul
Enrique / JEvans / BAE (Shotton) (Simp)
Bale / Valencia / Gerrard / Dempsey (McClean)
    RVP / Sturr / Ade

Step forward my Jonny Evans. Cheap, and whilst not guaranteed game time, he should be in it more often than not given the injuries. Cahill is the Chelsea option of course in terms of value route, but he won 't be playing today anywhere by the sounds of it.

Agree with that. I think Evans is poor but SAF doesn't and with Vidic out. Rio never properly fit and Jones midfield, Smalling seemingly turning into sicknote Evans looks a good bet to be playing for a while.

Any news on Simpson? May get Stanton in instead! In a strong position an don't need a differential, it's just that Stanton looks a class act and gets forward, can see him nailing down the position and his price rising too. Any Newcastle fans care to comment?

I always thought it was a matter of time before R Taylor lost his place and that time looks now. I've gone for Santon in my WC. PArdew bought and now says he's going to be his preferred choice there.

    A: BAE, Valencia, Welbeck
    Or
    B: Caulker, Dyer/Moses, Rooney

I really like Welbeck, but will he get enough game time?

Last two hours of wildcard, any last ditch changes to be made?

    Vorm (Stockdale)

    Jones Simpson BAE (Caulker, Komps)

    Gerrard Nani Bale Silva (Sessegnon)

    Sturridge Yakubu Adebayor

I've been thinking about swapping out Silva as he's an injury risk this week and his price is dropping - the only question is, to whom? Mata? Dempsey so I can splash out on a premium player elsewhere?

    Thanks!

I'm floudering out in the 300,000s and figured I needed a variable. RVP went out so I could fund my bumper midfield. I figure his form might drop with after his holiday in Dubai.

Just noticed the yellow flag on Jones too... I'm scared. Anyone reckon he'll play?

Is it reasonable in hoping that one of shotton or jones plays?

I am otherwise I am only fielding 10 players.

Can't justify the -4 hit to take out Jagielka for a guaranteed starter, as both are only slight doubts that came up at the end of the week.

Saying that, if Shotton plays, I have Shotton and Shawx playing away at Anfield, don't expect much points from that. Come on Jones!

Tempted to put Nani captain over Bale, but Bale's form is way ahead of Nani's at the moment, so sticking with Bale.
