As the papers speculate over the January sales, and the yuletide shocks and shockers grow distant in memory, the Fantasy Flutter is back.
For those of you new to the Scout, and for those of you who partook in a little too much of the festivities to remember, we take a crisp ten pound note and spread it over Paddy Power’s special markets – all bets inspired by our Scout Pick selection and Fantasy thinking…
The Baggies host Norwich this weekend with the visitors boasting an unflattering record of zero clean-sheets in twenty matches, a claim shared with only relegation favourites Blackburn Rovers. For Peter Odemwingie, this looks like a fantastic opportunity to help claw West Brom away from the bottom three. Paddy are posting a reasonable 13/5 for the Nigerian to score and West Brom to win, but go big at 9/1 for him to score and assist – he’s achieved this one in his best return of the season back in Gameweek 17 at Newcastle. We’ll take £2 on Odemwingie pulling this off again with the obliging Canaries in town.
Clint Dempsey’s Fulham are another club featuring in the lower divide, but they do at least appear to be on the ascent. With real quality in the squad, Fulham might have been expected to be comfortably placed in the top ten by this point of the campaign. Two home matches follow today’s visit to Blackburn, giving Martin Jol’s side a chance to take a giant stride away from the danger zone. Dempsey is gelling well with the trickery of Mousa Dembele and the flair of Bryan Ruiz and the American will be looking to add to his six-goal haul this weekend. With Paddy’s odds looking inviting, Scout Pick Dempsey could yet put a bit of cash in our pockets. Dempsey to score and Fulham to win at Ewood at 7/2 takes £4 of our tenner in this week’s top bet.
Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa is yet to get a shake of the dice since coming back from that crushing broken leg. Understandably, Alan Pardew has been reluctant to make changes to his Newcastle’s line-up, but with African Cup of Nations absentees and an increasing list of injuries, Ben Arfa looks set to be handed a stage to demonstrate his talents. As he’s fairly unproven, Paddy are offering 12/1 on a goal and assist at home to QPR, but we’re going to go safe and take a Ben Arfa goal and Newcastle to win at 12/5 for £2.50.
Our ‘who will score the most’ market this week features Wayne Rooney, fresh from a thrilling cup derby, Emmanuel Adebayor looking to win back some friends following a double Gameweek dry spell and Blackburn’s saving grace, Yakubu. The odds all shout home fixtures, so there’s nothing to jump up and down about, but, following his header at City, we’ll back Scout Pick Wayne Rooney at 6/5 to outscore the other pairing for our remaining £1.50.
Money Back Special
Paddy’s refund special backs this season’s Fantasy darling. If Robin van Persie scores the last goal at the Liberty when Arsenal take on Swansea, Paddy will refund all losing first and last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.
