A busy Saturday on the tightrope saw plenty of jostling for position in the rogues gallery with yellow cards for a number of familiar faces, and a significant red for long term Fantasy favourite, Yakubu.

Now into his tenth season in English football, the portly Nigerian has been as much a constant in the goalscoring charts as he has been absent from the disciplinary ones. However, guilty of planting a full set of studs on Danny Murphy’s knee in the 3-1 win over Fulham, ‘The Yak’ duly picked up his first Premier League red and will now sit out the next three Gameweeks (eve, NEW, ars).

In the yellow card stakes, Yakubu’s teammate Jason Lowe still leads the way having picked up 8 cautions in his first 19 games for the club, but with 3 games in the New Year now completed without adding to that tally he’s seen John Terry last week, and now Lee Cattermole draw level with him, following his booking in the 1-0 loss at Chelsea. All three now sit just 2 cards away from a two-match ban.

Yellow cards also for Everton’s Marouane Fellaini and Wolves’ Karl Henry bring them into the mix forming a fearsome quartet with Joey Barton and Gary Caldwell on 7 yellows for the season, while new faces joining the growing band on 6 bookings were Chelsea pair, David Luiz and Raul Meireles and the Stoke captain, Ryan Shawcross.

GAMEWEEK 22 BANS

  • Yakubu Aiyegbeni (BLA) – 1 Red for serious foul play (first of 3 matches)
  • Luis Suàrez (LIV) – FA charge (fifth of 8 matches)
  • Vincent Kompany (MCI) – 1 Red for serious foul play (third of 4 matches)

i was his biggest fan at start of season, i kept the faith for ages, now even though he has window for potential success, i still think he'll just be disappointment like ade in the dgw, not worth it imo, rather go bent or fletcher.

So what are the (significant minority of) Blackburn fans going to do with their 'Keen out' banners? I assume they need an iron now since they were put back in their bags after a great performance. Guessing they will come out again the first time a player makes a mistake in the next game. Do the idiots not realise that affects the players and results in a worse performance?

Yes, i'm not saying that he is the best manager in the world but he was offered the job and (like any of us would) accepted it. Any abuse should be aimed at the Veny's but it seems to to be aimed at him and his family. That is disgusting and not helping the team at all. Any sensible person or football perosn would realise this

+42. It is Venky's that are the problem. They're simply trying to make money off the club by stripping it off it's assets, and Kean is just the puppet for the hate from the fans. Venky's out.

        enrique, simpson, brown
        vdv, silva, bale, sess, walters
        sturridge, rvp

but with wc I'd have dempsey and aguero in for ade and vdv. plus I could sell jones before he falls tonight and the extra .1 seems like it could be quite necesary for any teams im looking at

        draft wc team:

        vorm, kenny/linde/someone else
        richards, enrique, brown, simpson, kelly
        bale, silva, dempsey, sess, walters
        rvp, aguero, sturridge

and I don't really see a good reason to put off the wc. is there one?

Yes, but in the long run Morrison is a far better option. Also, no offence, but a Chelsea defence boasting Gary Cahill and David Luiz is anything but solid. 😉

If I WC this week, I can probably have the following squad -

    Krul - Lindegard
    Richards - Enrique - Caulker - Kelly - Kilgallon
    Bale - Silva - Valencia - Dempsey - Sessegnon
    RvP - Aguero - Sturridge

With £0.3m in the bank which should hopefully be enough to enable me to do Sturridge > Ba when he comes back, BUT, I don't know if I can handle the stress/frustration at having to bench one of that front eight every week.......

Better to just have a cheapie 5th mid and upgrade one of the two "K" defenders?

DIdnt Kilgallon get injured last night? Downgrade someone in your front 8. You will always want to bench Sess with that frontline so why not just downgrade him to McClean and spend elsewhere?

I'd start by looking at the players going up tonight as they have 6 nights to get the second rise. Yakubu, Sess, Raylor, Bellamy and Skrtel will rise tonight. Fletcher looks like he'll just miss tonight and go up tomorrow. I think Sess and Fletcher will definitely double rise. Skrtel might. Doubt Bellamy or Raylor will, Yak certainly won't.

Richards looks like a double riser as well. He will go up tonight and is getting a lot of transfers in because of Kompany.

Don't have much time left and I wouldn't mind beating the price rise.
    Drenthe and Adebayor out for

    A) Sessegnon & Agbonlahor

    B) McClean & Bent

I am favoring A) at the moment because with players returning form injury at the back in Sunderland I can see Richardson moving back into midfield displacing McClean. What do you guys think? Help would be much appreciated, cheers 🙂

It's too easy to get a midfield of Bale, Nani, Silva etc. It's not like previous season when you had Fabs/Lamps/Gerrard/Rooney/Drogba/Torres etc all wanting a place in your side
