In the midst of the January wildcard season, many Fantasy managers are looking to shoehorn as many big guns into their revamped line up as possible. Every penny counts and plenty are on the hunt for regular scoring, cheap to mid-price third striker to free up funds for the likes of Robin Van Persie and Sergio Agüero.

Amongst the standout prospects in this category is Wolves striker Steven Fletcher. Since joining the Midlands club from Burnley in 2010, Fletcher has been crucial to Mick McCarthy’s attack, racking up an impressive 19 goals in 44 games.

This season he’s already scored nine goals, provided one assist and accumulated 13 bonus points for his efforts, with a brace against Sunderland in game week 14 among the pick of his performances. With his eye for goal, Fletcher has managed an average of 5.1 points per game, a ratio which puts the Scot in the top ten forwards this season.

So-called big clubs clearly hold no fear for Fletcher. He has now netted away to Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs, having added Harry Redknapp’s side to his list of top gun scalps last weekend, with a typical close-range finish. Indeed, Fletcher seems to thrive more on the road, scoring six of his nine goals away from the home comforts of Molineux.

If you’re on the lookout for a flair striker who can mesmerise defenders with a mazy dribble or unleash a furious lightning strike from 30 yards out, then Fletcher is not for you. In the wonderful world of Fantasy football, however, it doesn’t matter how they go in, as long as they hit the back of the net. What he lacks in style he makes up for in the consistency of a traditional goal poacher. All his goals this season have come from inside the box, with six of those headers.

For those still looking for a replacement for Newcastle’s Demba Ba, who is currently on African Cup of Nations duty, or seeking to transfer out Yakubu, who starts a three-match ban in gameweek 22 after his studs up challenge at the weekend, Fletcher seems to be a plum choice for that potentially lucrative third striker spot. Already, he has risen in price on the back of that goal at the Lane and, as the most transferred-in forward in the gameweek, is now on the verge of yet another price hike. Fletcher currently sits at a more than reasonable 6.0 but looks likely to move to 6.1 overnight.

A glance at their upcoming schedule shows the fixtures certainly fall kindly for Wolves. Over the next seven gameweeks, they play host to (AVL, LIV, WBA, BLA) and travel to (qpr, new, ful), and, as McCarthy looks to steer his team clear of the drop zone and further up the table, Fletcher appears a thoroughly enticing proposition.

tosey do you think Sess is worth a 4 point hit over McLean this week?
Currently thinking of just doing Allen -> McLean for free (if Cabaye is ok)...but could try and squeeze Sess in instead?

Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Camreoon full back for spurs. Known more on here for scoring 24 points in a double gameweek. Also .5 cheaper then his English team mate Walker. Who it had been argued prior to BAEs score, was the better choice 🙂

Derry was playing in a midfield trio with barton and Faurlin. Faurlin is now out for the season, so i cant see him being dropped. That said QPR have quite a few attackers so could switch to 4-4-2

I'm 0.2/0.3 short of bringin in Bent/Torres myslef and am giving Dzeko a good look, he looked lively on Monday. However, I notice Torres is not on the first page of strikers and with that he is out of my...............

However, I may just hold Ade for next week as his 0.1 price drop does not hurt me and Spurs next fixture looks good.

It's a tough one but no. We are in the market for a CB and if we sign one, it'll be Williamson who suffers.

That said, he's been playing reasonably well recently but I would prefer to go for Santon.

    T.Krul, S.Mignolet
    M.Richards, N.Taylor, J.Enrique, D.Simpson, J.Evans
    D.Silva, G.Bale, J.Walters, A.Valencia, N.Dyer

Looks good - similar to mine but a few differences in defence - my Huth, Santon & Senderos to your Enrique, Simpson & Taylor.

      Nice balance.

    Okay a quick RMT everyone..
I know it's weak defensively but they do rotate well, and i'm heavy up top
    Vorm/Sorenson
    Shotton/Kelly/Caulker/Santon/AFerdinand
    Surman/Silva/Bale/Sess/Dempsy
    Aguero/Rooney/RVP

    Any comments?

Nasty def (as you know), and your team isn't linked properly.

Drop Roon and upgrade your def, is what I would do.

      Too weak defensively for me.

A Ferdinand could easily lose his place soon with the case QPR are spending. I'm also not convinced Shotton & Kelly are nailed on long term. If you're going budget defence, I think you need Senderos and McAuley in there along with Santon for starters.

I think you need to drop a big gun up top or in midfield, really.

Looks pretty good to me for a top heavy team. Not keen on Surman, and if you have a spare 0.1m floating around have you thought of having J Evans instead of Ferdinand. He rotates well with Kelly, Santon & Shotton?

Is having Vorm and Krul too expensive (Had vorm since start but krul will cost me 5.0.)? This looks the most solid combo to me but would you recommend having that much money on keepers. If I were to get sorenson or lindegaard, I could afford G.Cahill. Worth it or not?

Worth it IMO as it'd still only be 9.0 you'd spent on keepers.

depends where you want your points. keeper get you a lot? personally im downgrading Vorm to Sorenson and rotating with Lindy. Money better spent elsewhere.

You know Krul and Vorm rotate really bad for the rest of the season, right? GW 31 and 37 are awful. If you want to keep Vorm, Schwarzer is your man.

let me try this again in simpler format..
Wildcarding GW 24.. which combo will score the most over the next 2 weeks..
    A)
    GW 22 Riise
    GW 23 Riise + Sessegnon/Valencia + Fletcher

    B)
    GW 22 Jones
GW 23 Jones + Sessegnon + Dzeko/Balo/Hern/Berb/Welb(one week punt based on lineups)

RMT for this week (not the best but deffo looking in good shape for next week anyway!):

    Vorm (krul)
    Simpson samba Enrique (caulker walker)
Moses Ben arfa nani Dempsey (bale)
    Fletcher rvp aguero (c)

Benching bale maybe risky. Aguero right capt in your opinion?
