Eight victories and a qualifying round later and here we are, the Semi-Finals of the Paddy Power Cup V. A win at this penultimate stage guarantees a prize and, of course, a place in the Gameweek 23 Grand Final. Without further ado, the Semi-Final draw…

sleepingmaster Vs. ChickenDevil

The underdog here is 73,327th in the world sleepingmaster, who is the lowest ranked of all four Semi-Finalists. Over 65,000 places better off than him is his opponent, ChickenDevil. The difference in rank is reflected in both teams squad value. Whilst the top 10,000 ChickenDevil has coffers of over £110m to call upon, sleepingmaster is a good three million worse off. And with funds tied up with Wayne Rooney away at the Emirates, sleepingmaster needs some serious performances from the likes of Stephane Sessegnon.

Raasclart Vs. Funkyav

The second tie pits last week’s top-scorer, Raasclart, against the highest-ranked Fantasy manager, Funkyav. With Funkyav’s Wayne Rooney facing a trip to the Emirates and Raasclart’s Emmanuel Adebayor ruled out of the Gameweek, this one could come down to how those mid-priced options fair. Raasclart’s move in the transfer market for his an Adebayor replacement may also pave the way into the final.

SAF "We're a bit better in terms of injuries. Smalling and Jones are fit. Cleverley and Young have done some running which is good. It would be a great boost to have them back - they're influential players.

I've been trying to convince myself to get rid of Bale due to his upcoming schedule and I've found an interesting angle. Look at his scores vs teams in the top half of the table:

2 2 3 2 2 2 4 16 1 = 34pts (3.8 PPG)

Against his scores vs teams in the bottom half of the table:

3 10 2 14 13 11 5 13 9 3 5 = 88pts (8 PPG)

Indeed his only good score (16) in the top half was against Norwich who have failed to keep a clean sheet all season and without that it would be much worse. In his next 10 games he faces 8 teams in the top half of the table (actually Norwich is the only 1 he doesn't play) 🙂

So if his trend of being a flat track player continues I would expect to see diminished returns from him which is why I'm getting rid.

    Agree completely Jack. I was onto this seeming anomaly with Bale and was set to drop him on my WC, but he played the top teams right at the start of the season and Spurs were not the same team as they are now. And Yid's point about Inter is another reason that I realised I couldn't brush Bale off as not performing against top sides.

Torres looked good last weekend. I understand the love. But we have bigged him up soooo many times in the last year and he has alsways disappointed.

as a 5th defender in my WC, needed for gws 23 & 25 only, Evans(STK, LIV) or Ward (LIV, WBA)?

any other recommended 4.5 or less defenders for those two gws specifically? Not fulham, new, or stk.

Also, if Ward, would you consider starting over Richards? Bookies have CS odds close, and i feel id have the better differential with ward. Villa/Wolves were 0-0 earlier in the year.
