Landon Donovan’s return to Goodison on a two-month loan deal from LA Galaxy provided a welcome boost for the Everton faithful, who have so far endured a most unremarkable season. Having helped to ignite David Moyes’ side in a similar loan spell in 2010 with two goals and three assists, Donavon arrives with expectation heaped on his slight shoulders.

A smart assist for Victor Anicebe’s equaliser at Villa Park provided a glimpse of his talent, and in this latest article for Members, we examine Donavon’s impact so far to analyse his potential for his remaining weeks in England.

The first significant statistic to note is that Donavon has played every minute of every game since he became eligible. David Moyes threw him straight into the action in the 2-1 home defeat to Bolton and the American played the full 90 minutes in the trip to Spurs in the same Gameweek. Donovan looks to be a nailed-on starter, then.

Moyes has so far deployed Donovan on the right-flank, playing in front of Tony Hibbert against Bolton and then Phil Neville in the last couple of fixtures. He held this role for the trip to White Hart Lane, although he tended to tuck in far more in this game, joining midfield areas and looking to support Victor Anichebe and Louis Saha up front. He took up a similar position at Villa Park, drifting inside to provide the killer ball for Everton’s goal at Aston Villa. So far, though, that single assist has been the sole Fantasy contribution from Donovan over his three appearances but, as the ICT Index shows, it hasn’t been for a lack of trying.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Correct Strike force, imo.

I think Valencia is someone to have right now. He is the one consistent in an otherwise turbulent United team right now.

Riise is only worth it if he becomes Kompany in the next two weeks. Get Jose Enrique or something.

Mark Lawrenson’s Premier League predictions: Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd.

“There definitely won’t be 10 goals in this game, like there were at Old Trafford in August. I was at that game and it was a one-off – it was never an 8-2.

That was an Arsenal team which was absolutely at their lowest point of the season and they have got much stronger since then. United, you would argue, haven’t – they have got weaker.”

The last line spoken like a true Liverpool fan. 😆

      I'm sure it won't be 0-0.

The Arsenal team though is arguably similar - no fullbacks, no Arteta or Vermalen. Arguably 8 players who started that game will start this one too. (Szczesny, Djourou, Koscielny, Ramsey, Walcott, Rosicky, Arshavin and RVP). As for Utd, it's likely there will be no Anderson, Cleverley or Young like last time out.

However, Ferdinand and Giggs will strengthen Utd, maybe even Scholes as well. I'm not convinced Mertesacker, Miquel and Benayoun will do so for Arsenal.

      3-1 Utd.

    Re Barton and QPR

Interesting stuff emerging on Joey Barton's twitter account this afternoon, slagging off Warnock and praising Hughes management so far.

I did have an inclining that he thought Warnock was a fool and may welcome a harder regime focused more on fitness (which Hughes is known for).

    Here's somehighlights

    Joey7Barton Joseph Barton
Lost his job and the guy is blaming everyone but himself! Embarrassing, time to look in the mirror mate. Last thing we need right. Big week

Looking forward to the game against Wigan tomo. 1st time in a while we actually have a plan and seem organised. #3ptsneeded

Should I captain Fletcher or Van-man?

I'm an arsenal fan and that armband has been stuck to RVP for this week (considering United's diminishing quality and the fact that RVP is still in blazing hot form), but I feel Fletcher in his good form against a crap Villa side at HOME (Where, wolves, like united, always score.) could do great damage.

What to do? Captain Fletcher or RVP?

You lose half the profit you made on a player when you sell him. If for example you paid 12.2m for RVP the sell him when he is at 13.2m your team value go down by .5m as you only get 12.7m for him.

    From the arsenal website ...

Arsène Wenger will assess his options at left-back after the Manchester United game.

"Before Sunday's game nobody will come in so we will have now to focus on the players [we have]," said Wenger.

"I will assess the situation after the game on Sunday but until then nothing will happen now for us."

    The man is a genius!
