Last week’s posse of bets may have failed to bring home the bacon, but with a fresh note clutched in our determined mitt, we look to pitch our Fantasy thinking against Paddy Power’s odds, in another Flutter.

After a spell of defeats in the run up to Christmas, Stoke have slipped up just once in nine games, and that was a “gimme” at the hands of league leaders City. Although a secreted towel and a long-throw still play a major part in Tony Pulis’ tactics, teams have found ways to counter these methods, forcing Stoke to – whisper it – find quality on the ground. Jon Walters has been at the heart of this, always willing to push up to support the lofty talents of Peter Crouch, his prowess from the spot have seen Walters simmer as a strong mid-price midfield option all season. In the Picks again this week, Paddy post 4/1 on Walters to score and Stoke to gain a cleansheet against visiting West Brom, and thus our weeks tenner is broken, with £2 laid down.

Having missed five games this season, Steven Fletcher has had to work hard to rack up his impressive 81 Fantasy Premier League tally. Fletcher undoubtedly offers exceptional value for FPL managers and punters alike, and Paddy go 100/30 for him to score and Wolves to win against rivals Villa this weekend. Given that Fletcher has proved deadly in the air this term, we prefer to take a punt on him to score with a header at 8/1 for a quid.

Stephane Sessegnon may well be the key to Martin O’Neil’s Sunderland revival. To be fair to Steve Bruce, Sessegnon was performing well enough before he was turfed out, but there’s something about O’Neill that’s squeezed an end product from the lively attacker, to accompany the pace and trickery. Subject to heavy transfer activity in recent weeks, Fantasy managers will expect Sessegnon to feature with either goal or assist as Swansea visit the Black Cats, even though the visitors have put together a strong run of form of late. A Sessegnon goal and assist double at 10/1 is worth a £2 stake.

Our final market revolves around the glitzy world of celebrity Twitterer Joey Barton. The QPR skipper is not quite the Punch and Judy villain that Mario Balotelli has become, but nonetheless, he’s a great entertainer with his antics and indiscretions on and off the pitch. Paddy are tempting us in here with a “will he, won’t he” bet. Barton to avoid a yellow card and get a goal against Wigan is at 5/1. Since he’s racked up 8 cards in 18 games, this would normally be too much of a risk, but new managers can often bring out the best in players and change any leopard’s spots. We may even see Adel Taarabt’s ego humbled with Mark Hughes’ arrival – then again. If you want to firmly back a QPR revival under Hughes, Paddy are offing 14/1 on Barton to score and Rangers to earn the win against the visiting Latics. That’s well worth a sniff and earns our final stake slice.

Money Back Special

Paddy fast forward to Sunday’s big encounters to offer us a pair of Money Back Specials. If four or more goals are scored in City’s clash with Spurs they are refunding all losing first /last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on that match. They’re taking the same stance on the Arsenal vs United clash at the Emirates, so if Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie let loose, you could be line for a refund on your punt.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

A little crazy yes but I can see why you want to make those changes. Nani & Ade have been very frustrating lately and both are due a rest (Ade's will of course be forced this GW)

But to Gerrard & Fletcher I'm not so sure

Nani to Gerrard for free is good though. But you have to think short term.
Bolton's mini revival won't last as only class is permanent and they have none soooooo...if Gerrard does the biz against Bolton..he may be a keeper for a while provided his injury doesn't return.

Hey guys, can someone give me a couple of thoughts on my team, I think I am in for a dreadful week if I don't WC....

    Vorm(Krul)
    Enrique, Jones, Senderos, (BAE, Caulker)
    Silva, Bale, Nani, Walters (Allen)
    RVP, Ade, Sturridge

I have .3 in the bank and I can sell Ade for 8.9... I was thinking he would be the best one to swap out, or maybe someone for Demp? Only 1 free transfers : \

I think you're right for this week if you go ahead with the Ade swap, maybe to Fletcher?

Grin and bear it at the back unfortunately. Playing Caulker ahead of Jones might give you a better chance of a CS. General rule of thumb is not to play any defenders facing the elemental force that is RVP.

He is tempting, but not worth touching with their immediate fixtures unless you're stashing him on the bench.

I'm pretty sure RVP has singlehandedly destroyed some people's backline scores on a few occasions this year.

Watched the Warnock interview - never liked him too much but came across as genuine, forgiving, not particularly bitter, and a refreshing change from the cynical on-message manager types we see everywhere now. That Barton dislikes him makes him a better man in my view.

Good prospect in a shockingly bad 5.something midfield group.

Watched him against Arsenal, yes he has dead ball duties and yes he got an assist in his first match so I can hardly knock him.

Still in that match, he was one of the deeper midfielders, playing in the centre, and what made his through ball possible was the very high line our defence was playing. I think he's less of a threat from open play than people think, but overall a good buy.

I think maybe i will be benching bale this week
if anyone is to score v man city it will be bale
why? no adebayor means bale will probably be more likely to cut in and attempt on goal as vdv vs city defense is a poor match up - vdv is reserved for headers and going in hard so i think micah richards will be all over him BUT my other options are valencia dempsey gerrard ramires and although ramires feels like a weak link, i have always fancied him, i have helguson up front (differe to fletcher) if anyone thinks bale>helguson i could be swayed but i have considered heg for (C) this week... pretty confused except that i want gerrard captain as an atempt to jump my mini league position - most have between 7-9 players from tott ars man u man c and as we all know all could go either way

btw anyone find it ironic that
    a) man u supporters wil be supportin tott
    b) man c supporters be supportin arsenal
    c)tottenham supporters be supportin arsenl
    d)arsenal supportin man c

its a crunch weekend but come on tottenham and arsenal!

I reckon if you got Helguson, fixtures like this week are why you got him.

No point having him if you don't play him now!

so will bale rise to the challenge? he had soooo many wayward shots last week....everyone is envisioning man c tott 1-1
i believe v city tott havent made strides butt defoe is ridiculous in when he can score(v anybody any time)
i truely believe ramires is what avb wants in a team tho....
how do u think it will go?
i am too biased as i think tottenham should be first (adebayor 2 goals which were onside + crouch handball should have been a tott win AND same v wolves....)

Bench Ramires. Easy. Studge will be back and Ramires will be playing MF. He'll still burst forward but I'd much rather have the threat that Bale poses. Plus the Man City DF arent all that without Yaya shielding them and Komp at the heart.

But ONLY because it's a one-week punt. Otherwise it would be Huth all day.

For a one week-punt it's better to have a (stupidly over-priced) peno and free-kick taking Defender

I'm going with Rooney for now. But as with this game you always have to be flexible. Having Roon will allow me to move for Aguero or Torres (but probably not Torres) should either start banging in stupid amounts of goals in the near future.

My provisional plan is to get Aguero for the Fulham game and lose Dempsey for Valencia in the same week thus keeping some Utd coverage

          That's a tough one.

Dempsey higher risk, higher reward whereas Valencia is in equally good (if not better) form and seems much more consistent.

Maybe give the edge to Dempo just slightly, and mainly due to his fixtures. You can always trial him for a few weeks and swap to Valencia if he doesn't perform.

I know it's quite ridiculous. But I can tell you, if Studge is benched once again, AVB will get a lot of stick from Chelsea fans. How on earth can a manager bench his best players? I think the newspapers have got it horribly wrong since most of them are based on line-ups last week. As you said, no one predicted Studge to be benched last week & so I'm hoping they've got it wrong again.

Just don't see him benched. Nuts.
