With a better goals-per-game ratio in the Premier League than both Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, Darren Bent doesn’t seem a likely journeyman on paper. A veteran of five clubs before the age of twenty-seven, rumours are rife that Liverpool could be a sixth notch on the goalpost before he reaches twenty-eight. Scoring goals wherever he goes, Bent’s career mocks the notion that a player needs to settle to flourish.

Switching seamlessly from Sunderland to Aston Villa last January, nine goals in sixteen games for the midlands outfit capped a prolific campaign that propelled Bent over the 150 point mark in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) for the second consecutive year. With plenty goals in pre-season, Bent had no shortage of takers despite his double digit FPL valuation this term, as Villa embarked on a run of fixtures that seemed to forecast plain sailing. Out-gunned and undercut by Gabby Agbonlahor in September, a run of four goals in five games in October failed to prevent a steady stream of investors abandoning ship, and by the time a thigh injury consigned Bent to the treatment table in December, there were few lifeboats left to man.

Announcing his re-launch in style, Bent swept off the bench to score in Villa’s euphoric 3-1 victory at Chelsea on New Year’s Eve, and another sharp display against Everton last weekend bagged him a goal and three bonus points. Villa’s fixtures look strong in the short term, with a trip across town to Wolves this weekend immediately followed by a home tie against QPR and, with Agbonlahor failing to find the net since early November, Bent is once again the proud flagship of the claret and blue fleet.

The Wildcard window affords Fantasy managers the opportunity to restructure and rebalance their squads, and with few outstanding front-line options priced between 8.0 and 11.0, Bent -at 9.6- could prove the missing piece for a few managerial jigsaws. Liverpool’s courtship may provide further incentive to a player who seems to enjoy life in the shop window, and at 4.3% ownership, Bent is a differential with form, fixtures and proven FPL pedigree who may well furnish food for thought for many a Fantasy manager.

Anyone think there are better mid options than Valencia against Arsenal? On the one hand the Arsenal defence is in an injury mess, on the other hand it is away and he doesn't score much, more of an assist man.

Would Sess be a better option this week? Only way I can bring him in.

Yes... luckily I'd only take 0.1 damage on him if I brought him back in - don't know why people didn't buy him in more.

I dunno, let's say I'm looking at two assists which I think is the best case scenario. 8 points + BPs. Can Sess outdo that? He certainly scores more. And while the Swans defence is improved away, I still have memories of them conceding four etc...

lol, what I mean is are you more likely to take hits on players who can't play?

Depends whether you've got a half-decent sub to come in. But if you've got, say, a couple of yellow flags and a rotation risk then it's more worthwhile.

It's only effectively a 2 point hit if it means you can play with 11.

Yep. Have Drenthe, Barfa, Osman and (you never know) Evans so this is the case with Ade.

              I posted this before:

I’d do Ade to someone like Crouch for this week. We’ll see the teamsheets for a few teams before the deadline next week, so then do Crouch to someone who’s playing like Bellamy, Dzeko, Balotelli, Berbatov, Welbeck, Defoe – players that you can’t really buy normally because of the rotation risk.

Then WC the following week, or if the teamsheets throws up a few nasty surprises you can emergency WC.

I'm WCing for GW23 so I will be making use of the teamsheets. However since I don't have a WC later I don't have the luxury of taking big gambles on the teamsheets and WCing them out later. Not unless it's one or two. But I will be making risky transfers this week since I fix them in GW23's WC.

do you wanna keep ade long term? if not, then taking a hit is more acceptable

2 big questions for me. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

    play Mclean and save transfer

    or

sell Yak > Fletcher and play him - bench mclean?

    2nd question:

    Vorm or Krul?

Sell Yakubu if you have a free transfer.
      Vorm for goalie.

Bit risky but I see Drenthe as being more likely to score against Blackburn than Bale away at Man City:

    Vorm
    Williamson, Evans, Enrique
    Silva, Drenthe, Walters, Nani
    Aguero, RVP(C), Sturridge (VC)
Bench (in order): Ruddy, Bale, BAE, Caulker

    Is it looking OK?

Well, I don't have much choice really as I expect all my defenders bar Enrique conceding....
