Roberto Mancini welcomes back Micah Richards and Mario Balotelli for City, while Ledley King could make a surprise return for opponents Tottenham. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are back for United, though Mikel Arteta is ruled out for Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

Wes Brown and Titus Bramble could return for Sunderland. David Moyes is without a host of first-team players. There’s better news for Mick McCarthy who welcomes back Roger Johnson, Kevin Foley, David Edwards and Matt Jarvis.

    Hi guys,

    Obviously not an ideal set of defenders, but which three of these would you start, bearing in mind the latest team news?

    A) Shotton
    B) Cahill
    C) Richards
    D) Smalling
    E) Williamson

    Currently on A, B and C, but thinking B, C and E is a safer bet – less chance of 10 minute appearances?

        yeah it's very unlikely he would get many returns, chance of a goal/assist i guess. Good point though, I would put Shotton ahead of him, even if on the bench.

      Nothing glaring - Linde is the only one (potentailly) a bit iffy.

      I'm also keeping Bale on the bench but i'm captaining RVP.

    Given that I have Sorensen, and no Man City defensive coverage, should I:

    1) Get Huth (or any other?) and switch for Kompany next week
    2) Get Richards and switch for Kompany next week
    3) Get Kompany, bench him and use one of Gahill, Simpson and Dyer this week

    Should I do BAE->Sendoras (or Kelly) even though I will lose a little bit on getting him out?

    Is it mad to consider selling Krul or Vorm with my WC if I bought them at 4,5 and 4,0?

    I'm considering a backline similar to this:
    Vorm/Sorensen

    and would like to get nailed on cheap rotating defenders.

    My thinking for the week is that due to most of my players playing in the same games that its going to be a bad week. With this in mind Im keeping my transfer this week with next week in mind.
    I have 1.0 in the bank but cant see any transfer that will make a massive improvement to my team and I think the two transfers would be of more use next week
    Crazy??

    Also RVP currently captain. Right or wrong??

      I would go Ade > Sturridge today before he rises tonight. Spurs fixtures are rubbish so I wouldn't get Ade back till about GW29 or so.

    Keep having this urge to captain Fletcher over RVP.

      If you're happy with the rest of your side and don't think you will need a transfer for anything else next week I'd go with option 1.

      Huth has come close to scoring in the PL recently, scored in the cup and Stoke have a great chance of a clean sheet. Out of all the defenders in the game he's the one I'd pick.

      I think Shotton has the better fixture + more potential to score attacking points, Senderos will probably get you 2 points as Newcastle have scored in 23 of there 27 games this season (including pre season) and I can see them scoring again this weekend. If Shotton has a Cameo he gets you 1 point. For the sake of a point I'd take the gamble on Shotton
