The race to be the first player to climb onto the second suspension tightrope of the season is slowly starting to near conclusion, with the traditional bad boys queuing up to make the transition into balancing mode.

Readers of these pages will have seen regular mention of Blackburn’s Jason Lowe and the Chelsea captain John Terry as the recent front runners, both with eight yellow cards to their names from previous indiscretions. Last week they were joined by perennial offender and Sunderland leader Lee Cattermole and, not to be outdone – Joey Barton celebrated his return to the QPR side after suspension with his eighth yellow card in the win over bottom of the table Wigan. All four of those familiar names therefore now sit two yellow cards away from a two-match ban.

Hot on their heels with seven yellow cards though (and perhaps feeling the pressure) are Wigan’s Gary Caldwell, who despite conceding the second QPR penalty today for a foul on Heidar Helguson escaped further sanction, and Wolves’ enforcer Karl Henry, who certainly didn’t escape punishment for the back-heel he aimed at the prone Marc Albrighton’s midriff. Henry’s straight red card will see him miss the next 3 games for Wolves (LIV, qpr, WBA), and coupled with the injury to his midfield colleague Emmanuel Frimpong (on loan from Arsenal), could leave the black country club short of both of their first choice pair – the imminent return of Jamie O’Hara can’t come soon enough for Wolves. Everton’s robust Belgian, Marouane Fellaini is the final player with seven bookings, while a host of players complete the Tightrope widget with 6 yellow cards.

GAMEWEEK 23 BANS

  • Yakubu(BLA) – 1 Red for serious foul play (second of 3 matches)
  • Luis Suàrez (LIV) – FA charge (last of 8 matches)
  • Karl Henry (WOL) – 1 Red for serious foul play (first of 3 matches)

IF all of the below are FIT TO START from now onwards.. how does the team look

    Schwarzer/Vorm

    Richards/Vermaelen/Shotton/Simpson/(Brown/Evans)

    Silva/Bale/Dempsey/Valencia/Mcclean

    Rvp/Ba/(Studge/Ade)

Gks: miss a couple of weeks when both are away. Vorm/Krul for me.

Richards but not Verm. Brown over Evans until Man U fix improve.

      Valencia->Sess

Ba is away on ACON duty. RVP and Aguero upfront with Ade for next gwk.

Hey Jafa the GK combo does not MAKE ME face a top 7 team until GW38(liverpool)

And 3 away fixtures for me till gw38 to Villa, QPRx2

Im thniking Verm bcoz Sagna should be back by end of jan.. Arsenal have easy fixtures and Verm+Kos tend to keep Clean sheets..

Valencia ill getting for Dempsey GW29.. Therefore Sess will be there instead of valencia right now..

And a temp striker in 3rd spot till BA returns..

Gks: NEW and SWN have been outstanding at home though all season. I just see them maintaining that home form. This gwk is the last time they do not rotate.

Verm: you have a lot of money tied up in defence with Richards as well on board. You need to consider Aguero now with his improving fixtures. Put it this way, I'd rather have Aguero who has the fix and gametime than Verm. You have to make a decision here.

Krul/Vorm will result in atleast 5-7 top 7 opponents.. so no CS..

Verm/aguero still under consideration with Sagna, jenkinson n gibbs back end of jan...

I can also go with Dzeko Balotelli for the easy city fixtures coz I already have silva too..

ill most probably have the same mid.. except for Dyer > Mcclean

front 3 i have Rvp n ade and i think might go with Verm/(dzeko/balo)

I had Aguero since the start of season and i think i can manage with out him..

Richards: I'm concerned about his gametime/fitness so I'm looking at Bad K.
      ShawX->Shotton
Bit too early for Evans imo.
Not a Walters fan I'm afraid - go with the plethora of midfield cheepies(Dyer,McClean, Moses)
Yes, the third forward option is a problem. Why not play Ade next week and change up the following week?

Ideally, if I was playing my w/c right now, I'd be looking at a front 8 of:

          Bale, Sess, Dempsey, Dyer, Silva

          Ade Aguero RVP.

          Right there you have:

          - form players
          - players with great fixtures
          - input from City
          - Ade at home to Wigan with a gd of -26.

i am thinking the same thing about Studge, how about you consider a idea i have been contemplating; change Sturridge for A Cole. Cole is cheaper and has been outscoring Studge on a more consistent basis too, even considering that Studge has been out for a few weeks...

...just seems a better use of money to ensure Chelsea coverage..

              Firstly....

              1. You have balls. Big balls.(me, little jafa,JOA and ELNINORULES had a good laugh yesterday prior to kick of when we saw your team)
              2. Told you you think to much...all these optas and indexy thingy mijinx....(iro Dempsey)
              3. Good on you for putting ELNINORULES lady girl in his place. He big mouth talks many many nonsense. His mom hapy cracker now.

                1. Ha...you ain't laughing now 😛 Well you might be but not you-know-who! Nice job on the Dempster btw.

                2. I go with my gut. The data just confirms everything. I wouldn't have got Sess w/out the data to back me up.

                3. Half-a-gwk left. Spare a thought for Udit has to contend with Team of the Season, Team of the Week and Team of the Year in the next round. 😕

                  1. I am still weary of this strategy, but it is a fine looking team, all right. Impressive, ballsy captain selection, too. In a way, thats more impressive that the strikers.

                  2. What data was backing up Sess, exactly? Most of what I saw discouraged me.

3.This is why I am glad I played you when you were weak! Now I don't have to deal with you again for a while.

I'd say having one of Demps, Murphs or Bobby Z is pretty important up until GW30-32, but it doesn't have to be Dempsey. Don't go mad over the price rise either (I'm trying not to); price and team value aren't that important anymore.

Good point. There's every chance of MU keeping clean sheets over the next few GW (even if they are facing Chelsea and Liverpool)

Who knows? I'd say just Evans is enough MU defensive cover considering their fixtures. Just Lindy is an option as well though. I would suggest the lack of Man City in your defence is a problem.

Terrible GW, but hopefully with 6 + captain it can change a little.

had both. had armband on dempsey until abot 1122 GMT, posted a message saying pick a captain out of these players, dirst one with two answers becomes my captain. Went on aguero last second. Still overall pleased but damn close to nirvana.

              damn right.

and i dont care what people say, if blackburn can beat a team like utd at old trafford who can beat a team like arsenal 8-2, anything can happen. City can eventually slip up. Utd not their best squad, injuries to be fair. Spurs can take this table!!!!

    Morning from Cape Town.

Would it be nasty of me to hope that RVP does not play today? I have him as my (C) but Dempsey is my (VC) and HBA is my first sub, never though I'd say this............eh fantasy football!
