Jamie O’Hara is set to remain sidelined for another fortnight for Wolves. Taye Taiwo arrives at QPR from Milan on a loan deal to bolster Mark Hughes’ back line, Peter Crouch escapes FA punishment, while Norwich snap up Leeds skipper Jonny Howson:

Alex McLeish received an injury boost this morning with news that three of his first-team squad could return for the weekend FA Cup clash against Arsenal. Stephen Ireland, Gabby Agbonlahor and Emile Heskey are on course to recover from their respective hamstring, illness and Achilles problems in time for the Gunners showdown. Charles N’Zogbia is still expected to remain sidelined due to a heel problem, while Chris Herd could return from an ankle injury in a couple of weeks, having been missing since gameweek 16.

Norwich completed the signing of Leeds midfielder Jonny Howson for an undisclosed amount yesterday. With their skipper out of contract at the end of the season, Leeds have “reluctantly” accepted the Canaries offer, with Howson arriving at Carrow Road on a three-and-a-half year deal. The Norwich midfield has been something of a conundrum for Fantasy managers this season, with rotation meaning seven players have managed 11 or more league starts, though Paul Lamber clearly has high hopes for Howson, saying:

I think he can add goals to our midfield which I think we need and he can do that. He’ll get better as a player the higher the level he goes up. If he does that and everything goes well, he’ll be a great player for us.

Reports this morning suggest Chelsea are close to completing the signing of Genk’s Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian champions have confirmed they are in talks over the player’s possible transfer, though it is thought the midfielder may well be loaned back to the club for the rest of the season.

Jamie O’Hara is expected to be sidelined for another fortnight, according to Wolves boss Mick McCarthy. The midfielder’s recovery from a double hernia operation has been slower than the club anticipated, with O’Hara missing the last seven league games. He was expected to be ready by the end of January, but a return for the gameweek 25 home clash with West Brom now looks more likely.

QPR have snapped up Taye Taiwo on loan from Milan until the end of the season. The left-back’s arrival at Loftus Road certainly puts question marks against the likes of Armand Traore and with his renowned set-piece abilities, looks like one to watch ahead of his side’s favourable upcoming run of fixtures (avl, WOL, bla, FUL, EVE, bol) as Mark Hughes looks to build on last week’s win over Wigan.

While Mario Balotelli faces a four-match ban, the FA have been a little more lenient towards Peter Crouch. The Stoke forward has escaped any punishment for his apparent eye-gouge on Jonas Olsson is the Potters’ 2-1 home defeat by West Brom on Saturday. Crouch was set to face a three-game suspension but has been given the all-clear after match ref Anthony Taylor cleared him retrospectively of any misdemeanours.

Seems like every post you make, whether in response to him or not, you're mocking his broken English. He's actually got a pretty good grasp of language compared to a lot of other asians, it's a hard language to grasp for them. You're out of order, and it's getting boring.

Are you looking at you team for Round 2 and not the team for Round 1? Captain will stay the same as for Round 1 unless you replaced him. If you replaced him, then you should have got a message making you select a captain before the team is saved.

The team's looking really good. You have your Jan WC in tact? Else I'd look at exit plans for Raylor/Keane. Helguson/Zamora better options IMO, also consider a downgrade to Simpson/Santon for Raylor.

Jamsiep asked for a bit more info, (I know you meant to really)

    So;

Top three strikers in terms of value; (ignoring the fact that one spot is taken up by RVP anyway)

    Ba-17.5 ppm
    Graham- 16.5 ppm
    Morison- 16.1 ppm

So Aguero represents 71% of the value of Morison, the third most valuable striker.

    And the top five midfielders in terms of Value;

    Sessegnon – 15.9 ppm
    Dyer 15.8 ppm
    Sinclair 14.4 ppm
    Pilkington 14.3 ppm
    Walters 14.2 ppm

So Silva represents 88% of the value of Walters, the 5th most valuable midfielder.

If anything that just makes it look better.

Now this doesnt account for Captainability, or Maximum usage of your Bank balance. So I am aware it is not the full story or even half of it.

    Impressive tackle:

    regarding to aguero or silva,
most of the aguero's point return is in the first few GWs, when he first arrived city.
do u think that it affects his potential return, or u just like to look a player by his whole season's points instead of the previous 5GWs?

Now here we have FORM. It is important to make sure that you have players whilst they are on form and scoring plentifully.

Impressive Tackle did not deal with this.

still think the form factor is the most important, excluding silva.

that's why i am getting dzeko for the moment. he can produce as much as aguero for sure, as he is more of a target man type while aguero is more like an attacking mid.

People tend to plan their wildcards for the extremely long term. Dzeko is clearly a much shorter term pick. In that respect he looks almost unrivalled in potential over the next few weeks. Just make sure you dont have too many short term picks, as you could end up with quite a few out of form players all wanting your 1 free transfer at once.

I didn't deal with form as I don't see it as being as important as fixtures. The people who know me know I prioritise fixtures over form every time hence why I have ended up with the likes of Baines on a couple of occasions this season.

Manani, I look at the whole season. You're right that a lot of Aguero's big hauls came in the first 5 gameweeks (SWA bol tot WIG FUL) whereas he has struggled for form in the last 5 GWs (wba sun LIV wig TOT). Look at those fixtures though, would you not expect him to struggle in the last 5 gameweeks. The problem here Manani is that I am not looking at either the first 5 gameweeks or the last 5 gameweeks, I look at all of Aguero's gameweeks but more importantly I am focused on the NEXT 5 GAMEWEEKS (eve FUL avl BLA BOL) where I expect he will match or surpass the scores from his first 5 gameweeks.

Another reason is that I am not a purely statistical style manager, I have actually been watching City play and although Aguero has not been posting massive returns he has been playing exceptionally well and I feel he is unlucky not to bagging more goals/assists.

      1) Can never bench a striker.
      2) Never convinced with medium priced mids consistency (esp over tougher fixtures). Hence, I'd rather have 3-4 big mids if possible.

OK need some feedback on the concept below.

Dzeko in now with BAE for the Wigan fixture, allowing me to take advantage of Dzeko's should be playing time the next 3-4. Then turn BAE into anyone 4.5 or under and bam I got my Kun Aguero fund in 2-3 weeks. Seems there are enough under 4.5 D options, Stoke in 3 weeks and all that that it may work out.

Terrible idea? Average Managing of a team? Bored at work and can't stop tinkering? 2nd cup of coffee?

The problem would then be dropping a mid down to then have Welbeck to Ba funds, I'm looking at you Hatem and Sessegnon.

is there a Newcastle fan about? Want to know about Barfa's prospects of holding down a regular spot in the side, I'd consider putting him over Etherington as it allows me to get Verm and he has perfect rotation with McLean for the 4th mid spot, but if he's not nailed on, it's worth the risk just to have Verm IMO. (am also questioning Verm as he doesn't rotate well with Cahill or Evans.

Newcastle fan reporting for duty! 🙂

I think he's got himself a place in the starting line up for now. Hoping he knuckles down and makes it his own but he's far from certain as I don't think Pardew has been too impressed with his work ethic so he'll definitely be under pressure once the ACON boys return.

That wasn't actually that helpful was it 😕

it was in a way as it's given me what I was after. Basically after GW28 when City host Bolton I'll take Aguero out for Ba (who I think will be rested before starting anyway) at which point I'll have a juicy 4-5 million to upgrade Barfa with anyway. It's basically do I get Barfa to fund Vermaelen. I could just as easily get Gylfi or any other mid under 5.5 instead.

He was out best player vs Fulham but Pardew has always been a little bit hesitant starting him. He'll start vs Blackburn I would have thought.

He's not nailed on by any means, particularly when Ba and Cisse return from the African Cup but if he keeps performing well, it'll be very difficult for Pardew to drop him. There's a lot of pressure on Pardew from NUFC fans to start him - after 20 mins vs QPR there were calls for him to come on from the bench, prior to Cabaye getting injured and we were astounded he didn't start ahead of Shola/Best.

To conclude, he's not nailed on but he's likely to play the next few. I would describe him as a controlled punt.

well it'll be more like 6, I plan on Aguero ➡ Ba in GW29, that will give me 4-5 million to upgrade Barfa to Nani (or someone in the 9 bracket if I can't afford that)

agreed, Dzeko only performs away and City's away fixtures for the next few are tougher than the home ones (where Aguero is better especially against teams in the bottom half or that a poor away) and with Mario out, he's on pens.

Lybia vs Zambia game under threat for those who care (Taken from BBC):

1554: And it looks like kick-off will be delayed, Matthew Kenyon reports, and the game itself could be under serious threat.
1550: The BBC's Matthew Kenyon inside the Estadio de Bata reports that there is a referee's inspection taking place on the pitch, due to extreme weather conditions: "Torrential rain here, puddles growing across the pitch. Horrendous and no sign of clearing yet," he says.

Simpson has 1 Assist and 5 Baps from just under 2000 minutes.
Santon has 0 Assists and 3 Baps from just over 500 minutes.

Don't think you can really infer much from these stats, but the general consensus is that Santon is a better football player, and thus more attractive to have in a side.
