As entry opens for the Members-only Paddy Power Cup VI, we’ve almost reached the final stage of it’s predecessor. Gameweek 22 saw four fantasy managers face off in the Semi-Finals of the Paddy Power Cup V. In case you missed the summary in this week’s ScoutCast, here is how the two ties panned out…

sleepingmaster 48 – 41 ChickenDevil

sleepingmaster advances to the Grand Final after a seven-point win over ChickenDevil. A late fight-back courtesy of Antonio Valencia’s 13-point haul wasn’t enough to close the gap after Stephane Sessegnon and, to a lesser degree, Ciaran Clark’s performances the day before.

Sitting 59,659th in the world, sleepingmaster advances as the underdog, but is safe in the knowledge that he’s already pocketed prizes worth over £100. ChickenDevil will have to settle for a Gameweek 23 3rd-place play-off to bag a prize.

Raasclart 26 – 37 Funkyav

Eleven points was the margin of victory for Funkyav over Raasclart, who has John Ruddy’s unlikely clean sheet against Chelsea to thank. With Funkyav backing a heavy Chelsea win, seeing as his team boasted the likes of Juan Mata and captain Daniel Sturridge, fortune was certainly on his side.

Congratulations to sleepingmaster and Funkyav for reaching the Grand Final! A preview article will follow…

I recommend asking me who I will captain, and then not ever choosing said player. You can only have great success in implementing this strategy.

Last day to consider the WC. ATM settling on:

    Krul

    Kompany Riise Jevans

    Silva Bale Valencia Dempsey

    RVP Dzeko Welbeck

    Hennessey McClean Simpson Taiwo

...for this GW and then either Welbeck > Ba if he starts firing straight away or Dzeko > Ba if Ba hasn't scored when Balo returns

Well replace Hennessey, unless you're waiting for a PK stop or him to be bombarded with shots, in the case where 2 or 3 go in each game.

Huth seems a good shout gw24-28, Riise looks decent also tho. IMO id get senderos over taiwo(unproven in epl, jump off the bandwagon) and get in huth

Despite Pardew talking him up, has the Raylor ship finally sunk?

Cant handle starting him over Santon (yes i have both) if he keeps making cameo appearances in last 10 mins!

What are all the other Raylor owners doing??

      I'm still starting him.

Probably going to transfer out, but I have to debate between Simpson and Williamson, OR Richards > Kompany.

      Want Kompany before any rises..

Too many transfers left to do. How did my WC leave me in this mess?

Its very possible that Pardew might bring him back next game, after two straight losses. However, when the Dembas and Tiote come back, there's not going to be a place for him for long. I'm getting rid, but have a few transfers to do before that. Hoping he doesn't drop.

          My WC right now is:
          Krul/Linde
          Clichy/Cahill/Sandton/Kelly/Jevans
          Silva/Bale/Dempsey/Sess/Moses
          Wellbeck/RVP/Aguero

I know some of those choices are rather circumspect, but as my performances would suggest I am a long way off from my mini group leader, and I simply need to win. The bragging rights of beating the old hands in my first season will be epic.

Drop Cahill. "Cheap as chips" works better. I'd rather upgrade Clichy to kompany or keep the bucks to get Ba in next week.

I'm not sold on Linde, and you have Evans anyway. ManU have kak fixtures in the short term after this week.

Mmm, so I should keep going for top heavy? Ya the plan is to keep some money around to potentially upgrafe Wellbeck to Ba. I'd like to wait on Ba first to see if he's still the player he was.
              Back to the drawing board....

I hate the fact that there's a second wildcard. All the teams posted here are way too similar. Most of which have players that would have been seen in very few teams 5 or 6 weeks ago like Sessegnon, Dempsey, Wellbeck, Valencia etc.

They should really do away with it next season.

Ek was gebreek.

Ya, I stunk the place out last week with my points score. Luckily, I was spending the week on a tropical island, so I didn't find out about it until I returned. I had dreams of returning to find that my inspired choice of captaining Huth gave me millions of points. Now, I'm just sticking with RVP. Or Bale. Or RVP...Hmmm, what to do...

If you've got RVP, I think he's probably got to be your captain, especially as Bale might be a doubt too.

    morning sausage bangers.

small issue with Mr. W. Rooney, i hear:

    Mignolet
    JEvans, BAE, Richards
    Sess, HBA, Bale, Valencia, Dempsey
    RvP, Rooney

    Krul, Fletch, McAuley, Williamson

    1. bench Rooney and go with Fletch?
    2. go for a 4-5-1?
    2. Rooney > someone else for a -4 hit?

Let me know what you decide keith, because that is "my wifes team" (more or less, and i am trying to decide between those choices. ie Huth and McClean, or cheapie defender and sessegnon You must have a load more cash than me though, cos I've got Dzecko instead of Aguero, and not much left over. To be honest though, I would pick the bosnian for the next 3 regardless of the price, then switch around for aguero for the two home games.

Guys How is this for a WC team..

    Vorm/Lindy

    Vermaelen/Richards/Simpson/Shotton/Kelly

    Silva/Bale/Dempsey/Valencia/Sessegnon

    Rvp/Dzeko/Morison.

    My Punts -
    Vermaelen - For 3 weeks
Dzeko - For 3 GWs till Balo is out and then Dzeko > Aguero.
And again after 3 GWs Sess>Mcclean and Morison > BA (possibly after Newcastle face tottenham)

    Thoughts ???

I am confused why lots of people are going Vorm Lindy, they rotate terribly.

I like your Verm punt, not so much the Dzeko one. Also not keen on planned transfers of any kind, from what I saw of McClean yesterday I'd just stick him in and have Ba from the off. You won't have a problem benching him for the first week with that front 8, which again is something you might want to consider.

I think Lindy starts and because of de gea being a love child of saf getting the odd start, peeps have a decent no 2 to fall back on - its nothing to do with rotation, I mean like a utd gk for 4.5 ? They have 11 cs ( most ) after all .

Well yes I get that, i'm choosing Lindy, but my other keeper is intended to be (Hart). Say of that what you will.

Does it not just pose you with dilemmas all the time, both playing 'easy' teams at home? Both playing teams away?

I like hart but not at that price, good rotation guaranteed- nice strategy Jim . IMO utd are always a decent shout home or away for a cs, it's percentages you expect utd to get 15/20 cs a season and esp now lindy looks nailed on who else at 4.5 (4.4) in my case gonna give you a 35 % for 65% against chance of a cs?

Hey what exactly do you mean by rotate...

Maximum no. of Home fixtures between the 2 OR max. no of CS gettable fixtures ??

I have kept them because of the latter reason.. more CS gettable fixtures..

        If I do sess>Mcclean now.. the I can do 1 of Morison>BA or Dzeko>Aguero..

Im going with dzeko mainly because Balo is out for 3 games and Dzeko will play upfront on his own for those 3 games and could easily get some good points..

Also at the moment Dzeko and Aguero are in same kind of form..

Also I was thinking of going with Sess because he plays in that CAM pos behind the striker..
So could get more points the Mcclean and then I can easily swap him out for Mcclean when the tougher fixtures comes..

So what should I do ?? Stick or change the plan.. ??

      Hi Song!

I like the look of your team. I'd rather have Komp & Ba instead of Verm & Dzeko TBH. You could easily bench Ba with your midfield, depending on if Bale starts.

You may also consider Sess > McClean now itself as you'll definitely have other urgent transfers later. Wouldn't recommend so many planned transfers in a WC team.

    Morning All,

Last day and half of the WC. Pretty much decided that I'm gonna drop Sess & just go for McClean (sunderland's fixtures look a little dodgy and McClean seems to be involved in a lot lately). This will give me a front 8 of

    Silva, Dempsey, Bale, Valencia, McClean
    Aguero, RVP, Keane Ba

With Krul & Lindy between the sticks and Kompany, Simpson & Evans in defence this leaves me with £9.8m for two defenders, one who I think should be a £4.0m (Caulker / Shotton / Kelly), this leaves me with £5.8m.

Suggestions welcome and also is it right to go for McClean over Sess?

    1) Aguero

    6) Rooney....will he hit a streak of form

Morning all. Looking for opinions on one of the several WC dilemmas I'm faced with at the moment:

    1. Sessegnon, McClean, Fletcher (plus 0.6); or
    2. Valencia, McClean, Keane (plus 0.4)

I'm currently on 1, as Sessegnon is in good form and has kinder fixtures than Tony V.. but I'm indecisive.

I like 2) I think, not sure you need 2 x Sunderland midfielders - some tricky fixtures coming up after Norwich.

Would be useful to see your entire team. I'd probably lean towards 2.

        Krul/Lindegaard
        Kompany/Simpson/Evans/Senderos/Caulker
        Bale/Silva/Dempsey/McClean/???
        RVP/Aguero/???

Could have Sessegnon and Welbeck, but really don't fancy Welbeck to score highly after this week.

Wellbeck is fairly fixture proof to some extent I'd say. This season he's scored or assisted against Arsenal (Twice), Tottenham, Liverpool and City (Cup). Seems like a man for the big occasion and might be worth a punt given Utd's upcoming fixtures.

Welbeck would provide MU attacking cover at least, just wary that he's not a nailed-on starter every game whereas Valencia looks constantly dangerous.

Can't afford Valencia and Ba (without downgrading elsewhere) unfortunately!

My situation is similar to yours. I have Moses instead of Mclean with Sess and Wellbeck currently. Planning to downgrade Evans to Kelly to bring in Ba for Wellbeck eventually. Not sure what to do with MANU cover after GW28 though!

That's why I want Valencia really.. his form is so good that between now and GW28 he could well shoot up in price. The issue for me is that, if I do get him now, I only have 5.4m for a striker. There's not much worth looking at in that price range.

Keane is a no-go for a WC team. Only a possible one-week punt.

    Morning All,

Bit of mistake in the last post. Pretty much decided that I’m gonna drop Sess & just go for McClean (sunderland’s fixtures look a little dodgy and McClean seems to be involved in a lot lately). This will give me a front 8 of

    Silva, Dempsey, Bale, Valencia, McClean
    Aguero, RVP, Ba

I want to double up on Man U & Newcastle (rotate well), so going for Krul & Lindy and Simpson & Evans along with Kompany.

This leaves me with £5.8m. Suggestions welcome and also is it right to go for McClean over Sess?

Replied above - like the Mclean move. Huth is who I'd go for.

Nice one I did think about Huth. Trouble is I've got Enrique at £5.0m, so do I ditch him for Huth or keep him for the next few on the bench?

I had him from 5.0 aswell, got rid on the WC though, poor fixtures to have so much money tied up in I think. Remebmber - you're only losing on him if you later buy him back at a higher price, which I doubt I'll do.

Very similar to my team (see above - only difference is that I can't afford Ba) and I'm considering switching Sess' to Valencia aswell. Just slightly worried that it'll bite me, as all my rivals have Sessegnon.

      I'd go for Huth.

Surprised to see Fletcher with a negative transfers this morning...thought the masses would still be transferring him in.

Shame as need him to rise 0.1 more so I can get and extra 0.1 profit before shipping him out of WC team.

How quickly will the powers that be consider Robin's elbow?
Not sure that it matters as I can hardly afford to sell and buy back in view of the profit from gameweek 4.
