Alan Pardew has confirmed that Senegalese pair Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse will miss out on Newcastle’s trip to Blackburn tomorrow evening. The Magpies boss expects the duo to arrive back at the club on Thursday now, with both likely to line up against Villa on Sunday instead.

Anders Lindegaard is a doubt for Manchester United; under fire David De Gea could be set to continue between the sticks. Paul Lambert could welcome back a couple of long-term injury absentees, while Sunderland’s on-loan signing Wayne Bridge is available for the Canaries showdown.

John Terry, Frank Lampard, Mikel and Ramires are all absent for Chelsea. Marc Albrighton and James Collins have been ruled out for Villa, though Charles N’Zogbia returns from a heel problem. Elsewhere, a host of clubs could welcome new players into the fold as the transfer window draws closer.

      It's likely to happen but it doesn't really affect anything, Dempsey was a cracking pick whatever. But you surely won't make him captain, with a fit Bale home against Wigan.

          He's far too hit and miss for me right now. I don't mean he's a useless footballer but as a fantasy prospect he hasn't convinced me yet. I think the Chelsea team is too open to mixing things up. he scores well against bigger teams but recently he's had a great opposition yet failed to produce. Plus he's away to Swansea. Not seeing much happening.

      if only for this week, you could also look at bardsley. decent attacking returns over the years, and you'd probably fancy sunderland for the cleanie. at least as decent a shout as senderos, probably better.

        not averse to downgrading senderos to a cheaper alternative to free up the 0.3-0.4.

          Schwarzer is 4.8 and rotates nicely with Sorenson. Only problem is he has just come back from an injury, so is a doubt for today.

      Can't argue with that for this week....any further advice is only marginal tinkering. This is almost too good for this week, with senderos and ben arfa also having good fixtures, but I think you are right to put keane and evans ahead.

      Bale and RVP are the captains of choice...much of a muchness in terms of potential to score huge.

      For future weeks you have gone for the sunderland/newcastle midfield rotation I see...wise move.

      My only queries long term is that taiwo is an unknown...why not go for a cheap alternative like simpson. Newcastle have some ok fixtures comung up.

      Also Keane is great for this week, but not next or a few others. Plus he's then off. What's your long term plan with him? Plan to swap for another cheapie?

      And then there's the potential of Ba as well..can you afford him if he starts scoring big.

      One final point Dzeko may be a better option than Ageuro for the short term...he's actually in better form and can score home and away. Aguero is strictly a home lad.

        many thanks jonty. as far as taiwo is concerned, it's a function of two things: 1) QPR have the best run of fixtures by a stretch and a new, proven PL manager to greet them with; 2) taiwo has been a consistent goalscoring defender down the years (17 gs in 192 league apps for marseille, compare to 20 in 162 for verm, 26 in 357 for terry, etc.) and at his price it's hard to imagine better potential attacking value out there.

        keano is definitely an issue, but would probably downgrade one of komp/verm if another more expensive striker really caught fire.

        that said, your point about aguero/dzeko is interesting. i'm going with my gut feeling about aguero for now, but may downgrade him to dzeko in the near future to upgrade keane.

    So strange that Aguero has a higher ownership then RVP... I guess Agueros price is pretty good value... Also Aguero was performing at the beginning of the season when most managers were still active.

      I'm having the same dilemma, he's not valuable enough to swap for Kompany, Vermaelen, etc. Cahill (if he gets into the team) and Raylor (if he takes Cabaye's place in midfield) are possibilities.

      I wouldnt have thought so. McClean at left midfield looks nailed on under MON at the moment, Sunderland have a lot of injuries in midfield plus Bridge hasn't played for ages, will take him a few weeks to get a starter imo.
