Crazy times. The midweek deadline stretched our resources to the limit as the teamsheets caused a frenzy around the 7.30 deadline. We remain alive and kicking, though, and our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to take us into the action.

Hopefully your final tweaks were submitted in time and now you can sit back and take in the action, shaing the anguish and joy with your Fantasy Football peers in real-time.

The teamsheets are interesting to say the least. United are forced to hand Ben Amos his debut with both Anders Lindegaard and David De Gea unavailable and Stoke have laid down the gauntlet – both Kenwyne Jones and Peter Crouch start. Elsewhere at Old Trafford, Danny Welbeck makes way for Dimitar Berbatov, while Paul Scholes comes into the midfield.

Andre Villas-Boas keeps Gary Cahill on the bench at the Liberty, despite the absence of John Terry. Jose Bosingwa starts then, with Branislav Ivanovic partnering David Luiz. Swansea recall their regular first teamers in opposition.

Everton choose to star with Tony Hibbert at centre-back and he’ll be up against Sergio Aguero who returns to the City lineup, along with Vincent Kompany.

Gareth Bale is safely nestled in the Spurs lineup as he overcomes a thigh injury to start. He lines up alongside Niko Kranjcar who is given a rare start.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Yeah you have to be registered by 12pm the day before, so the majority of signings today are ineligable for tomorrow.

Which is why I took Zamora out for Ba at last minute.

Given his wage demands are double the initial offer, didn't fancy the chance of him potentially staying at Fulham.

yes, if you are sure you want rid of those players. eg: if you had enrique since 5mil & you sell now for 5.5mil, if you want him back he'll cost you 6m... that would be mental.
if you are getting in players just for price rises & then getting rid nearer the weekend you will need double rises to make money, doubt there will be many of those

Yeah I understand exactly what you and HTR are talking about. I'm probably going to do Walters ➡ Silva because I bought Walters for exactly what he costs today. I was going to get rid of Sturridge but I'm not sure that any forward will rise tonight and hopefully Sturridge won't drop

My verdict on City's loss to Everton.

City are technically the best team in the league but their problem is they cannot break down teams that park the bus and refuse to attack. This is a recurring theme this season both here and in Europe. They can't pass through defenders consistently because they play possession football, but not tiki taka. They do not have the dynamism to stretch a fortified defence.

Their plan A is attacking through the centre. This fails when they come up against two lines of four sitting on the edge of the box. They cannot bypass this because they don't have the plan B of crossing or cutting in from the wing because they lack dedicated wingers - Silva, Nasri, Milner et al are not wingers. Johnson almost never gets a run. Currently, they push their fullbacks ridiculously high to get around the defence. This leaves them vulnerable to breaks on the flanks and that indeed is where Everton's winner came from today - Baines crossing from Richards' flank. To support this, Richards is the most advanced fullback.

    City either have to:
Plan A: learn to play tiki taka really fast (impossible)
Plan B: buy some really dangerous wingers ASAP (they have 80 minutes left)

They have 10 minutes and they also have Adam Johnson, who's really dangerous but doesn't get any gametime. Mancini plays Italian football and plays down the middle and doesn't take advantage of the wings.

They have Johnson, and Milner is not so bad on the wing. A change to 4-4-2 would help rather than 4-2-3-1.
Also getting rid of Dzeko would help
Aguero should be up front, not one of the 3 behind the 1

Similar to Arsenal's problems in recent years before they went downhill. City are a better side though and have more of a plan B with Yaya and Balotelli around. Also, Everton were brilliant defensively today, they'll rarely face a more solid side so dont see any real issues.

I'm sure things will get better with Yaya back because he's so solid and both contributes to attacks and is an anchor that lets the rest of City focus on attack. It won't in itself solve the flank problem though. And Kolarov... he might as well be honest and call himself a midfielder not a defender 😀

I feel I've had particularly bad luck with captain choices this year.

    My captain choices this year:

Venue: 22 Home games 2 Away games (inc 1 double gameweek)

Opposition: Bolton 3 times, Norwich 3 times, Wigan 3, Sunderland 3, Wolves 2, Blackburn 2, Swansea 2, West Brom 2, QPR 1, Newcastle 1, Stoke 1, Everton 1 (part of double gameweek)

Captains: Rooney 8 times, van Persie 3, Adebayor 3, Lampard 2, Baines 2, Aguero, Nani, Suarez, Silva and Carroll 1

My total points from captain choices... 111 (that includes vice captain's points when captain hasn't played.)

Can anybody do worse than 111?

The problem is you have only had RVP(c) three times. Just leave it on him every week.

198 for me (99 doubled). Is 111 your score before you double it?

yeah before doubling. 99 is truly horrendous!! I see you also had Adebayor in the double gameweek- so frustrating!

    Any words of wisdom?

Wk 24 Lindegard & McAuley -> Kenny (rotate with Vorm) & J Evans
Wk 25 Zamora -> Ba (gives both a week to show what shape they're in)
Wk 26 Aguero -> Rooney (especially if Aguero hasn't hit form)

Sound like a (reasonably good) plan?

Anyone else get a weird row of blanks at the moment if you click on "Fixtures" on any Fulham player's profile?

Right then, team for next week:

    Krul
    Richards, Shotton, Taiwo
    Silva, Bale, Gerrard, Dempsey
    RVP(c), Aguero(vc), Fletcher

    Vorm, McClean, Enrique, Kelly

Can I look to the next GW to lift my spirits after a debacle tonight?

40 with RVP(C) and Sess left. Bale(v), to be honest I cant complain too much about that. RVP was always my top dog for captaincy this GW. Hope he does the biz 2moro.

Things were looking great at HT, with all my defenders on CS. Knew that would be too good to be true.

Can someone confirm my thinking - its been a long day!
If I bought Jones for 5.6 and his current price is 6.5, meaning my selling value for him is 6.0, and he is due to fall in price tonight, will my selling value fall to 5.9? I'm just confused by the way the rules say it rounds it to the nearest 0.1. Sorry for probably a very simple question!

If he falls to 6.4 you won't lose 0.1, basically they split the difference. He'd have to go down to 6.2 in this case for him to go from 6.0 to 5.9 for you. Make sense?

nah. too much risk of rotation with lolarov. Would prefer Lescott for the same price tbh, although I would rather just find the extra 0.2 for Richards

Apologies. Confusing Clichy's price with Kolarov. Still, 5.7 is a lot for a non-guaranteed defender
