Another QPR home debut, another red card, another loss. After Djibril Cissé did the honours in the eventual Gameweek 24 loss to Wolves, it was the turn of Mali midfielder Samba Diakité to woo his new supporters with a red card, this time after 33 minutes of the clash with Fulham.

While QPR led at the time of Cissé’s indiscretion, an early goal by Fulham’s Pavel Pogrebnyak meant QPR were already chasing, and the six fouls racked up by Diakité in the 32 minutes of his debut were too many for referee Phil Dowd (fouls number four and six drew the cards if you’re interested). Mark Hughes will now be without both these new charges for the Gameweek 27 visit of Everton.

The other red card this weekend went to Tottenham’s Scott Parker, with just two fouls this time enough to warrant his two yellow cards for fouls on Robin van Persie and Thomas Vermaelen but, as with Diakité, the damage was already done before his dismissal, courtesy of a resounding comeback from Arsenal. Parker will therefore be missing for the visit of second placed Manchester United in Gameweek 27, though the appearance of Sandro from the bench in yesterday’s game suggests a like for like replacement is available if required.

Finally onto the suspension tightrope, and still the solitary name in immediate danger of a ban. Lee Cattermole showed enough restraint in the 4-0 thumping by West Brom to avoid a caution and therefore remains on nine yellow cards for the season. Behind him, on eight yellows, we still find Raul Meireles, John Terry and Joey Barton and now following a booking picked up in the win over Swansea, Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross joins the group two yellows away from the threshold. There’s also a late addition to this group thanks to a discrepancy between the FA and Opta. The FA today confirmed to us that the Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny did indeed pick up his eighth booking of the season in the win over Spurs; our friends at Opta have now tweaked their data accordingly.

GAMEWEEK 27 BANS

  • Gaël Givet (BLA) – 1 Red for serious foul play (last of 3 matches)
  • Jason Lowe (BLA) – 10 Yellows (last of 2 matches)
  • Djibril Cissé (QPR) – 1 Red for serious foul play (last of 3 matches)
  • Samba Diakité (QPR) – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (1 match)
  • Scott Parker (TOT) – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (1 match)

Champions League Group A Matchday 1 Results

    Man City (Newman-cini) 55 V 52 Napol (Tommytour59)

This always looked likely to be a close match up and it didn’t fail to disappoint. Pre match Newman-cini brought in Raylor to replace Enrique who had no game but failed to live up to expectations, Tommytour59 second guessed Mancini and took out Richards for the safer option Kompany to great effect picking up a clean sheet in the process. With only 3 differentials and Ba captained by both it was home advantage which decided this tie despite City playing with no goalkeeper (Linde/Vorm both out). It was Kelly who made the biggest difference coming off the bench to keep a clean sheet.

Newman-cini was extremely confident after Day 1’s games “ I Zink ze Napoli tie is in ze bag” with Shawcross needed to repeat last weeks GW with a goal, managing only a clean sheet. Tommy was extremely disappointed in Krul for only out scoring an empty net by 1 point, rumors have it a hole was made in the dressing room door at the Etihad.

    Captains: Ba (Both)

    Top Scorer: RVP (Both)

    Key differential: Kelly (Man City)

Villareal (TW) 51 V 39 Bayern Munich (Back to Back Ballacks)

B2BB was the huge favorite against the group rookie despite being away from home, but due to the tactical selection of TW, he pulled off a massive upset. With 6 differentials this had the potential to be an open game and it truly was. TW went with an unchanged team whilst B2BB made a HUGE call in ditching RVP the seasons top scorer after Arsenals poor cup results for Wayne Rooney who later in the week picked up a throat infection. But it was B2BB who was left feeling sore with RVP scoring and assisting whilst Wazza failed to show up. Not even captaining Aguero over Ba could stop Villareal from triumphing.

TW must be wondering why so many didn’t fancy his side to win but will now take huge confidence from this into the remaining group games and push hard for qualification. B2BB will have to face the wrath of the Bayern fans after letting their idol RVP leave and the board will be on his back if he fails to get 3 points against Man City.

    Captains: Ba (Villareal) Aguero (Bayern)

    Top Scorer: Aguero (Bayern)

    Key differential: RVP (Villareal)

    RMT?

    Krul/Vorm
Bardsley, Richards, RTaylor, Kelly, De Laet (just for options elsewhere)
    Bale, Silva, Sessignon, Dempsey, Sinclair
    Aguero, Sturridge, RVP

2 free transfers and 0.3 in the bank. Who do i need to upgrade/downgrade? Any essential transfers im missing?

Lack of man united, but getting rooney in means downgrading Bale to a 4.5 or Dempsey to a 4.0 midfielder. Worth it in the long run?

    Thanks so much

andrews, siggy, pilkington, myachi (bolton) all have nice fixtures on teh same weeks whereas moses is the opposite so its one of them and moses for me which is annoying as wuda liked to go with 2 of the others
