We should have known better. Back in Gameweek 10, when Arsenal visited Stamford Bridge we turned our backs on other heavyweight temptations and kept faith with Robin Van Persie in the Scout Picks. He repaid us with a hat-trick.

Ever since Van Persie has done more than enough to ensure that we never doubted his ability to score goals, regardless of opposition. And yet, with a trip to Liverpool and Van Persieโ€™s niggling groin on our minds, we chose to look elsewhere this weekend. Similarly, thousands opted to ignore Van Persie and hand the armband to Sergio Aguero. True to form, the Dutchman punished us all, leaving it to Gylfi to save our Scout Picks blushes.

Of course, Van Persie latest exhibition of clinical finishing was worsened by Roberto Manciniโ€™s decision to rest Aguero. Presumably drained by a midweek outing for Argentina, Aguero sat out his first City game since Gameweek 8 having started every league fixture since. City duly struggled to put Bolton to bed at the Etihad, throwing the kitchen sink and even Edin Dzeko at the brave Adam Bogdan in the Trotters goal. Eventually City wore them down โ€“ Balotelli finally finding his range after a catalogue of missed chances. The back four also pocketed a fourth consecutive clean sheet, although Micah Richards owners missed out again โ€“ another cruel blow dealt by the merciless Mancini.

We should perhaps be thankful โ€“ Aguero failed to show his cheeky little face โ€“ Mancini kept his ace goalscorer up his immaculately tailored sleeve to take to Lisbon on Thursday. That meant the Fantasy Premier League vice captain kicks in. For some fortunate souls, that might see Van Persie step up, others will look to Demba Ba or Clint Dempsey tomorrow. Spare a thought for those who opted for David Silva, however, Mancini dealt them double the sorrow to drown tonight. No Aguero, no Silva – there should be a phone line set up for this kind of thing.

Indeed, the fallout from all this could be significant. Thereโ€™s nothing like frustration from rotation to spark the Fantasy manager’s knee into life. Those who captained Aguero will likely be so embittered, the Argentine will be unceremoniously shown the door by thousands. Wayne Rooney or a double dose of Luis Suarez will surely be lined up to replace him for Gameweek 28 – prices will be volatile for days.

With Carlos Tevez stretching sinews on the City training ground and todayโ€™s decision by Mancini likely to linger long in the memory, Aguero may struggle to win back our faith this season. Talking of which – weโ€™ll knock back our Van Persie medicine with a pint or two and hope it helps us remember never to doubt him again. Punishing stuff.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

NOW, finally the week has come to RMWCT, and it is for the coming gameweek, GW 28!

    Please RMWCT:

    Krul-Mignolet
    Caulker-Evans-G Johnson-Olsson(WBA)-Kelly
    Dempsey-Bale-Silva-Siggy-Miyaichi
    Rooney-RVP-Odemwingie

    1.5M in bank

    Keepers:Krul and Mignolet rotates perfect.

Defenders:Evans and G Johnson will start most weeks, based on fixtures/form the third defender will come in.

Midfielders: Obviously Demps.Bale,Silva will be my weekly starters, and Siggy and Miyaichi will rotate perfect on fixtures.

Forwards: Enough said about two of them, Odemwingie is a nice punt IMO.

Any opinions is greatly appreciated! ๐Ÿ™‚

Looks grand though with Dempsey playing further out wide recently i'm considering moving him out. I'd prefer Nani. Not sure why you're ignoring City's defence either.

I'd wait for news about GJ, but I would be tempted to downgrade to Skrtel and get in Suarez for Odemwingie as the "punt". Yes, his finishing is shyte, but the one who does not dare...and so on ๐Ÿ˜‰

Got any advice for me, fellow norwegian?

      Currently thinking Richards & Aguero > Enrique/Skrtel & Rooney

May even do Ba > Suarez for a hit if my cojones grow by some margin come next week...;)

I like it however I think upgrading krul to Reina could be a decent move. Dgw & great fixtures after and although Krul rotates H/A with Mignolet, Sunderlands home fixts arent amazing an Newcastle seem to be conceding more often, just a thought.

      Couple of points:

      - Congrats all those that brought in Sigurdsson; I hadn't really seen anything of him and usually make my decisions based on what I've seen of players as opposed to the raw stats but it seems he's really worth a look at!

      - I really can't see any reason, at all, to make any changes to Liverpool players for this dire 'double gameweek' fixture next week. Newcastle will outperform Liverpool until the end of the season - and their players are much, much cheaper.

Cheers. I have considered Friedal but i think the Man City defence will be a great source of points for the rest of the season. They keep the ball so well so teams have restricted opportunities. And if they break through the defence Hart usually stops them. He almost got 8pts today, more than Kompany.

    Ba > Suarez

    Why?

Ba's fixtures are far from kind after this week (NOR in gw29 is tempting though) and I will most likely get Adebayor in for him come GW31 anyways. Why not give the toothprick a run-out until that time is my thinking. My gut tells me it is the right move, but then again the big guy has proven himself on so many levels this season. This is a potential disaster, but could also turn my ML situation in my favour.

The two other strikers looks to be RVP and Rooney till the end of the season, barring injuries or complete lack of form.

    Thoughts?

I'd WC in your shoes. Might seem like the first and best week doing it, but then again the last thing you want is sitting with a "must-use" WC in the last few GW's when there are no real pressuring issues...

Agree. It's not a perfect wildcard week but I reckon its the best we'll get.

Would be annoying to wildcard with 2 frees sitting there though.

Not a big Baines fan, he's decent of course but think he's been priced on last season's points. Plus Everton's double is horrible.

    Moved up to 8,268 overall!

Not too bad, expecting to go down a bit tomorrow when captains change / players in and out and the others game to finish.

    Not too bad though ๐Ÿ™‚

Are Taarabt and Suarez having a private competition to see who can hit the woodwork the most in a single season?

Yes hes quite far ahead, and this is the type of thing hes done all season. Im not being bitter but he has an unreal amount of luck.

Looks like his luck has turned though! Wouldn't worry too much about the DWG either, if you've got RVP and he hasn't, I'd be pretty confident, he'll be regretting it right now.

Ah well looks like his luck has run out. Without RVP for the rest of the season you should catch him.
