The third round of the Members Paddy Power Cup II took place over Gameweek 27, where 128 fantasy managers went head-to-head to edge one step closer to glory. The 64 results can be viewed right here.

This was the round that our reigning champion, Kippax Kikkers, was forced to relinquish his grip on the trophy. A 49 – 34 defeat at the hands of gosh, guarantees there will be a new name on the cup this term.

Also bowing out at this stage is the last of the Scout Contributors, as Pure Olivia got turned over 68 – 45 to Hopes Fears Dreams.

Top-score of the round went to Bob Fossil, who trounced 1nozza‘s score of 68 with an impressive 92 points. Chucky77 also deserves a mention after his 91 – 59 hammering of Pieman.

The unfortunate soul ‘winning’ the wooden spoon award was MB10, after his rather embarrassing 34 – 20 loss to thewoods.

Congratulations to the 64 fantasy managers progressing to the fourth round, the draw for which will be published shortly.

    Williamson a better option than Simpson for a Newcastle defender?

    Is only 4.2 vs. 4.6 for Simpson, but I have Simpson from the start and would only realise 4.3 for him (but the 0.1 is often invaluable)

        I would never wish a player to be injured, but when it affects the team I support and my FPL campaign then I'll certainly lap it out!

    okay guys, i need some advise. My mini league leader is about 40 points ahead of me and is slowly copying my team. Right now we have about 7 identical players. So how do I make up the deficit? Should I start taking hits and change my team or hope to catch up by making unconventional captain choices?

      Ignore him for now. 40 points is nothing with 11 weeks to go. If you're still 40 behind with 6 weeks to go then try and be less conventional. Also, try making two simultaneous transfers every other week. Stops him deducing your transfers.

        I know this because I had a similar lead last year and found it easy to keep matching my rival. He started taking risks, got to within 20 points but finished over 60 behind in the end.

          the problem is that he seems to have the better team overall. I mean his team value is about 3 million more than mine. So the players who are not common he seems to have the better ones. Its kompany versus richards (although I believe kompany is injured now), raylor versus simpson and bale versus mcClean. So its unlikely that i'll be able to make up much ground with the teams as they are.....

            You might not catch him whatever you do, but I'd say the best way is not to take loads of hits and make decisions you wouldn't usually make.

        Hmm maybe. Utd are heavy favourites to win though, and there aren't many avenues into them winning and getting a good price; that goalscorer one was one of the better looking bets.

    I think I'm going to keep Sess...misses two tough games then returns for QPR at home. Plus there's no great alternatives. I'll take the .5 price drop at this stage of the season.
