Spurs fear the worst after Michael Dawson is stretchered off against Stevenage. Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson are back in training for Liverpool ahead of the double Gameweek. United’s injury worries are beginning to ease up, Kieran Richardson is a doubt for Sunderland, while Roger Johnson’s future at Wolves is perhaps in doubt after “a breach of club discipline”.

Michael Dawson looks likely to be ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering suspected knee and ankle ligament damage in Spurs’ FA Cup win over Stevenage last night. The Spurs skipper –who has missed the vast majority of the current campaign due to an Achilles injury- fell awkwardly on his leg after an aerial challenge and was stretchered off after just eight minutes. Post-match, Harry Redknapp offered a depressing assessment:

Michael has gone to hospital. It was his ankle and his knee. He has a pretty bad injury there. Looking at his injury it would be a miracle to think he is not (out for the season).

Luckily for Redknapp, William Gallas recovered sufficiently from a recent calf injury to be afforded a place on the bench last night, though with no game time in the past two months, is unlikely to be rushed back into action. With Ledley King’s knee problems assessed on an almost-weekly basis, 5.5 priced Younes Kaboul looks nailed on at the heart of defence and may prove a cheaper alternative to the likes of left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto, at 6.2, over the London outfit’s strong upcoming schedule.

The Tottenham boss also revealed concerns over the fitness of Aaron Lennon, after the winger was subbed off in the first half with another hamstring problem. Lennon has been plagued with the issues for most of the season and has featured just five times since Gameweek 16; another spell on the sidelines is likely to mean further game time for Niko Krancjar, though Rafael Van der Vaart could drop back to the wing if Redknapp opts for two out and out strikers up front.

Kenny Dalglish has revealed both Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson returned to training today. The pair missed out on Saturday’s home defeat to Arsenal after picking up hamstring problems with the England squad last week, but could be on course for a return ahead of the Reds’ double Gameweek, affording Fantasy managers further options to mull over. The Liverpool boss was somewhat non-committal on their chances of recovery, saying :

Steven and Glen are back in training today, so we’ll see how they are. It’s a good boost for us to have anybody back, Steven included. Having Glen back as well, who was doing fantastic, will be good for us. We’ll see how they do in training and judge it from there

Sir Alex Ferguson expects Anders Lindegaard to be fit and available for selection in the next three weeks. The Denmark international had just broken into the Red Devils first team on a regular basis when he injured an ankle in training. It has ruled Lindegaard out since the end of January, offering David de Gea the chance to re-establish himself as United’s number one. De Gea has snapped up that opportunity with a series of improved performances, suggesting that even when Lindegaard is fit again, he will find it doubly difficult to re-establish himself as Ferguson’s first-choice stopper.

The United boss also took time out to dismiss any suggestions over Paul Scholes’ lack of availability. The veteran missed training yesterday ahead of the Europa League match against Athletic Bilbao but his manager admitted the absence was no more than a rest:

We just gave Paul a day off. We gave him a rest. He was indoors. Paul and Ryan [Giggs] don’t train every day. We give them certain days of

Ferguson also revealed the injury situation is clearing for United. Anderson is expected to feature this evening, Tom Cleverley has returned to first-team training, while Antonio Valencia is due back from his hamstring problems on Monday.

Kieran Richardson is a major doubt for Sunderland this weekend, after picking up a calf injury in last weekend’s draw at Newcastle. The former United man has played all but one game since Martin O’Neill’s arrival on Wearside, missing the Gameweek 19 match with Man City through illness but, having undergone a scan on the muscle, is a concern for the visit of Liverpool. Richardson’s absence would likely afford on loan Wayne Bridge a chance at left-back. Elsewhere in the Black Cats’ defence, John O’Shea is set to play through the pain barrier with a broken hand, while both Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Kieran Westwood are sidelined with foot and wrist problems respectively.

Abou Diaby reckons he’ll be back in 10 day time after sustaining yet another injury. The Frenchman –on as a sub for the injured Mikel Arteta at Anfield last Saturday- lasted just 27 minutes before being subbed off himself, after picking up a hamstring problem. Diaby had previously played a mere 22 minutes in the league so far this season but expects to be back running this weekend, meaning he is ruled out of Monday’s match with Newcastle.

David Moyes has admitted he is looking to integrate Ross Barkley back into the Everton first team squad over the next month or so. The promising youngster had played the Toffees first three league games of the season and was expected by many to push on as a regular but, in order to ensure the player was afforded plenty game time, his manager opted to play him in the reserves and youth team:

My intention is to reintroduce Ross back into the first-team squad and my idea was always to do it around April time. I’ve told the boy what my thoughts were. I think he needed six months of games- he’s not been ready to play in the team. But there are certainly signs that he is getting better now. I think it was for his own good. We’ve tried to get as many games into him as possible because he missed a year and a half of football prior to that. He’s missed so much football and now I’m looking to reintroduce him again towards the end of the season, when I think it’s a bit easier to do.

Roger Johnson’s future at Wolves may be in doubt after reports suggest he turned up for training on Monday morning while under the influence of alcohol. Johnson-who missed just 73 minutes of Mick McCarthy’s 25 games in charge- has failed to feature in the two matches under new boss Terry Connor, with Richard Stearman and Christophe Berra the interim manager’s preferred central defensive pairing. Wolves released a statement earlier this morning confirming their captain has been punished for his indiscretions. With a crucial home game against Blackburn up next, his chances of featuring look highly unlikely.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

If I had to pick one, probably Gerrard as he is a better player, and on FKs and PENs

I wouldnt go anywhere near though. Rather Young/Nani than either, or save money and go big upfront (RVP, Rooney, Aguero)

Current lineup. Yes I went and Pool'd it. It's done, there's no going back on it now. Best starting order?

    Schwarzer
    Richards Skrtel Evans
    Silva Bale Dempsey Adam
    RVP (C) Suarez Ba

I'm really sorry to be a douche after you've made the transfers but I really would have waited to see if Richards started tonight. If he does I really don't think he'll play at the weekend as well. 😕

That aside. It's a good team. Risky, but good. Potentially could be massive.

It's ok, I was expecting to get totally flamed for all the risks I've taken. Risks clearly informed by my rank 😀

Richards cannot cease to be out of my thoughts after the last 3 GWs, but my logic is that with Zab out HE HAS TO START OR HES BEEN BANGING MANCINI'S WIFE (emphasis unnecessary)

I'm a little worried not having Rooney this week, and that was the call I made, really. The logic is that WBA are in such great form right now that it won't be a thrashing - I watched them last week and thrashing Sunderland 4-0 and they are playing some of the best football in the Prem right now, genuinely.

That sounds pretty sensible. I didn't go into the Liverpool DGW lightly so I've got an escape route - if Suarez fires I keep him and dump Ba for Rooney, downgrading Silva to a £6.3m, Bale to a £5.0m or Adam to a bargain basement £4.4m.

If Suarez flops I dump him for Rooney and downgrade Silva to Valencia.

Lots of other combinations possible, but all revolves around losing one expensive template midfielder

Or losing Ba and Suarez, surely?

Could you do Ba and Suarez (to Rooney and Holt ? I think it should work. Thats what Ill be doing (except Aguero out for Rooney), either this week or next week. If Rooney scores tonight I wont be able to resist getting him in now, WBA form or no

I like the punt on Adam TBH. He's never going to really be explosive but he could easily get an assist or two. Richards should start as Zabaletta is out so no other real options (Kolo possibly) and he's had a nice rest so should be able to play both games.

Yeah we'll see if Adam does the business. He gets an extra point for each CS too so if Liverpool play boring he might have 6 minimum! Maybe, just maybe, if his season ignites he could be part of the 'The Four'.

A bit longer post, but I want you to read it.
RMWCT team guys! I am so happy with this team now, can't see any weaknesses with it. 🙂

    Schwarzer-Mignolet
    Caulker-Evans-Skrtel-BAE-Olsson(WBA)
    Nani-Bale-Dempsey-Sigurdsson-Miyaichi
    Holt-RVP-Rooney

Holt is a one week punt, before stragiht swap to Odemwingie.

Goalkeepers: Schwarzer and Mignolet rotates very well and is the goalkeepers behind tight defenses.

Defenders: Evans,BAE,Skrtel is the best defnders to have from Spurs, United and 'Pool IMO. Skrtel and BAE has huge attacking threat and very good chances of cleanies. Evans dont but has highly possible cleanies in him. Caulker and Olsson also have possible cleanies in them. Olsson has huge goal threat too. With Caulker also being involved in BP's and now some attacking threat in the last few weeks.

Midfielders:Nani,Bale,Dempsey will be my weekly starters with Siggy and Miyaichi rotating. I am not sure if I want Young or Nani, will decide who I get after United's lineup in the EL tonight. As for Siggy, he has prove his abilites and is playing fantastic behind Graham. Miyaichi is a punt, and we'll see how he work out guys.

Forwards:RVP and Rooney are essential from this GW onwards IMO. Nuff said about them. Holt a one week punt, before straight swap to Odem. Odemwingie and WBA are in great form and I expect them to continue with Odemwingie as a nice differential in my ML, I think he'll produce the goods for me.

    Any opinions please?

And what transfers would you exactly make? Keepers are fine until GW31 (when i'll use my wildcard). LIV, NOR, QPR. Skrtel, Caulker and Evans are arguably season keepers now, maybe Simpson as well. And if not, easily tradeable for others.

My midfield and attack looks like the standard wildcard team (apart from the very silly people taking punts on Suarez).

having rooney makes a big difference

dont personally expect much from bale silva ba mclean dempsey or siggy this week

i contemplated holding until gkw31 but found that the team id want from gwk31 was easily obtainable from wc'ing now and planning 3 transfers to get spurs cover in

just my opinion, if i was u i'd stick with your gut feeling, i find that always tends to work best

      swa, Blank GW, stoke

Swansea and Stoke are both very strong at home. His tough fixtures also coincide with Liverpools easier ones so it's a straight swap for most. I only lost 0.1 on him and plan on getting him back in on my GW31 wildcard.

Previewing LIV vs MCI defences for the remainder of the game weeks, I got the following numbers.

    5-3-3

The first number is the times I definitely prefer a LIV defender, the second number is either/or, the third is a MCI defender. The double game week for MCI might change this though.

Since Skrtel is cheaper than Kompany, I am getting rid of the latter.

Have I inhaled too many DGW fumes?

Newcastle Uniteds accounts for the year 2010/11.
    Main highlights:

The overall operational loss for the year after amortisation was just £3.9m, compared to a loss of £33.5 million in 2009/10 and £37.7 million in 2008/9.

The Club has worked to bring its wages-to-turnover ratio down to a long-term sustainable level. In 2008/9 wages accounted for 82.7 per cent of turnover, rising to 90.5 per cent in the Championship season 2009/10. For the year 2010/11, wages accounted for 60.6 per cent of turnover.

The net cash spend on player transfers to June 2011 was a receipt of £5.4 million, which includes the fee for the sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool FC in January 2011. The Club has since spent a further £25 million in cash on players and wages.

Thanks to the financial support of the owner Mike Ashley, the Club has now cleared all of its third party debts, which stood at £76 million in 2006/7 and incurred finance costs of £6.5 million. The debt to Mike Ashley remains £140 million, which continues to be provided interest-free by the owner.

You have to say it, like him or loathe him Ashley is turning the club from a real financial nightmare into a viable and sustainable business. He and Llambias will always have their critics, as they never communicate well and do surprising things without any prior warning (Sports Direct Stadium etc), but when the Financial Fair Play rules are imposed then Newcastle will be in a good position.

Interesting perspective, I have to agree while stuff Ashley does has looked insane from the outside, the figures don't lie and he's clearly doing something right, right now.

One of the 'surprising things without any prior warning' for me was sacking Hughton and I will never understand that. But he did get Pards.

Yeah the Hughton sacking was such a shock. I was gutted, more so when Pardew took over. But I have been proven wrong, I think Pardew has taken the club further than Hughton. Though I have no doubt Hughton is a fine prospect as a manager and will have a solid career.

I also think in hindsight that maybe Hughton was too close to the Barton, Nolan, Carroll clique, and that Pardew & Ashley were ultimately right in breaking it up. Those three forced a very direct sort of football, and while Barton is still a solid midfielder Ive always been critical of Nolan.

I suppose this settles the "All the Andy Carroll money will be reinvested in the squad" pledge too.

Interesting to see how it changes between now and next year - do we need to sell another prize asset to maintain the position - is that what the sustainability is based on, transfer fee profits? We shall see.

Indeed. To be honest I have growing faith in the way its being done, if say Tiote is sold for £20m+ then I'd have faith in Graham Carr plucking another hidden gem out for >£5m. Not that I want any of the current first team to be sold of course 😉

Yeah, I'd take £16m + for Tiote but the problem is when we start buying duds again.

Hopefully in a couple of years if we can secure some european football, we can use that TV money to persuade the better players to stay put and build from there.

It's certainly promising though and I like the way he is acknowledging the need to promote from within, with the funding of development in the youth squad which, we perhaps don't get enough 1st teamers from at the moment.

Yeah in the teams future but also for Ashley's future ... he only needs 1 or 2 gems to come through there for that to pay for itself - shrude.

Wonder what Sammy Ameobi fetches on the transfer market at the moment ... The only poor bit of business we're doing at the moment is selling Forster to Celtic for £2m ... I reckon he's got a top future ahead of him.

Company is a separate legal entity to its owners. If an owner wishes to lend money to the Company, that's his perogative ... a nominal interest rate is usually charged but credit to him for making it interest free.

Ashley will have a company that owns Newcastle, and will have lent that company money from one of his other companies (Sports Direct, for example). I think.

Hehe no it just means stay in between them and the goal at all times. You should be facing towards the opponent's goal so you can see them coming at you 😀

You got to learn to walk before you can run 😉 that's advanced stuff... and even the pros don't get it right that reliably... 😀

Also this is half joking because it's actually true, but obstruction is the bread and butter of defending (unfortunately). I will leave that idea with you and you can decide what to do with it... 😉

If all else fails, kick people. Hard. You'll get a reputation as a bit of a nutter and players won't try to skin you. If you get sent off, it's a good opportunity to have that smoke 😉

Seriously man if you're nervous about it I wouldn't be trying to remember shit. If the ball comes near ya boot it up the other end of the pitch.

Ya never know there might be a scout from Liverpool there.

i simply canot kick the ball far.

i can do it on hard court, but it is seriously hard when playing on a proper grass pitch. don't know why.

made easier by standing side on to where the ball is instead of facing it directly

i can head the ball, but certainly not a master at it.

it is hard to direct the ball when heading.
I was playing as goalie before, so rarely need to head a ball

most important thing is to score a goal. you can defend really badly but as long as you score that goal chelsea will come calling
