The Dugout Discussion returns for an evening shift at the Emirates, as fourth-placed Arsenal take on sixth-placed Newcastle United in the penultimate fixture of Gameweek 28. If Newcastle have serious Champions League ambitions, then a good result tonight is a must. That sets us up for a potentially entertaining evening, with Arsenal currently enjoying a great spell of form. The team news from the capital is in, and the line-ups are as follows…

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Rosicky, Song, Arteta, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, van Persie.

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Santon, Obertan, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Gutierrez, Ba.

Arsene Wenger makes one change from the side that unsuccessfully attempted to over-haul Milan mid-week, with Mikel Arteta coming in for Gervinho. Intriguingly, that means another start for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain with Theo Walcott operating on the opposite flank.

Despite promising an attacking mentality tonight, Alan Pardew has reverted to a 4-5-1 formation, with Papiss Cisse making way for Gabriel Obertan. There’s also a forced change with Ryan Taylor missing out with the calf strain. In comes Hatem Ben Arfa.

      Anyone that is saying RVP is crazy, that means you are settling for 3 points from your C! I would always take the risk for the chance of a big haul... I would captain pretty much anyone over RVP if he had a 5-2 lead over someone with 90 minutes to play.

      With Suarez, he will >probably< score 2, so RVP has a 1 point lead. Risk the 1 point for the chance of suarez scoring, assiting, bonusing, or simply the pleasure of getting to watch your C play!

    Last 5 GWs have left me unable to trust anyone to score points, good fixture or bad fixture (apart from RVP, legend). Seriously thinking if I can't count on the "reliables" to score I might as well gamble now, massively.

        Yup, what's been unsettling is so many 'gimme' pointscoring opportunities being destroyed by either random rotation, last gasp failures. Ba doing zilch even against Wolves, Aguero, Silva, Richards (risk - yes - 3 matches missed in a row and no CS on his return - seriously??), getting 2s from every single one of Bale, Silva, Dempsey, McClean and Adam this week, Fulham throwing away their in the 80-something minute repeatedly, Kelly injury when Fulham kept a CS, Santon failing to keep a CS at home to Wolves, Jevans conceding to Norwich late on, ....... deep breath. LOL.

    If you guys had Mata, would you keep him till the end of the season or swap him for someone like Walcott/Young. Mata's great, but his crappy away performances are making me want to ditch.

      I'd be keeping, personally.
      He's in the hole now, and has Drogba back to actually finish off his 30* key passes per game and his home fixtures are brilliant, so they should make up for his away performances.

    I brought Charlie Adam in for the dgw, so far it looks like backfiring. is he worth keeping hold of? i would like to downgrade and upgrade grant holt (also a 1 week punt which has backfired a bit). what about:

    adam & holt > barfa/miyachi & odem

    dont know about odem, but i know holt and adam are stinking my team out a bit. they were silly purchases and i want to get rid. now morison is back, i can see holt dropping to the bench.

    Here is a list of players I don't like (in my team) anymore

    Raylor - because too often benched
    Pilks - same reason
    Silva - not scoring me points anymore
    Kompany - I don't like his calf
    Bale - He had his moments
    Taiwo - he was never anything
    Ba - ACON made that man a boy again.

    I've 1 FT.

    What to do? Who to kick out first? Who has potential? I don't even want to discuss who to take in. Just first who to kick out.

      Kompany - shouldn't be out for much longer and City can keep a CS against anybody
