Gameweek 28 concludes tonight with the hotly-anticipated Merseyside Derby. Bragging rights are up for grabs in Liverpool, and for us fantasy managers so are double gameweek points. The Dugout Discussion opens for the fourth day on-the-bounce, as team news from Anfield emerges…

Liverpool XI: Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Carragher, Jose Enrique, Henderson, Gerrard, Spearing, Downing, Carroll, Suarez.

Everton XI: Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Coleman, Rodwell, Fellaini, Pienaar, Stracqualursi, Anichebe.

Kenny Dalglish names an attacking line-up, desperate to put an end to his prolonged set of horrendous results. Andy Carroll partners Luis Suarez, and Steven Gerrard returns to the starting eleven.

Celebrating 10 years of continuous employment this week, David Moyes could see his side leap-frog their city rivals with a win. It’s surprising then that, despite his winner against Spurs, Nikica Jelavic is dropped to the bench along with John Heitinga. In their place, Denis Stracqualursi and Phil Jagielka come in.

Follow the game as it unfolds in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which can be accessed right here.

I thought a lot more would be going for RVP(c) this week, nearly everyone is going for Rooney in the poll. Nearly everyone in my mini league will be doing RVP(c) and think I might just follow out of fear.

I think it will. Less time on the ball, and tighter in midfield. Spurs were lacking ideas, City looked toothless (though that was down to Mancini's tactics). Everton had 6 changes for todays game..... There's no denying RVP can score in any match, but Wolves are so bad at the back, I'd say that Rooney has a better chance of bagging 1+

Kneejerk 8pt hit to get rid of Bellamy, Kuyt and Drenthe who I only just brought in with last week's wc...

    Now:

    Howard Andrews Cahill Baines

I was prepared to spend some of the DGW points to rejuvenate my team. It's not really a penalty, I'm just using some of the extra points I got for Howard...

I'd bench Baines because he's up against RVP? Could play him though. Instead of Miyaichi?

Yeah but wouldn't you agree it would be better to keep the extra points you make from a DGW, and not squander them at the next turn? Pointless doing it in the first place if you were always gonna do that...

I know it's Arsenal, but you would have bet your house on at least one of City, Chelsea and Spurs scoring there... Everton are way too nippy at home, and anyway, Leighton is due a penalty... 😉

I'm benching Siggy... can't see Fulham conceding in this one...

Those were terrible punts imo. Chin up, we've all been there!

Smiting players is a wonderful release in FPL, but sometimes it's best to be a little pragmatic and get rid of 1 at a time.

WCs are double edged and don't always lead to an advantage. In fact, the team usually suffers unless it is played really well, esp at this stage of the game.

Kun to Rooney seems pretty simple on paper, but MUN play on Sunday. City get a week to recover in time for a tough HOME game.they'll want to win. Aguero will feature in that game.

I'd love more info on Silva's condition. A rested Walcott would have to perform away for it to be worthwhile.

U need points first of all and Rooney has awesome fixtures and form. If u just go for differentials u are going to fall way off the pace trust me. Pick the form and fixtures regardless whether they have the player or not. 70 points over 10 weeks is doable

Not having Roney might increase the gab. Get Rooney and look for a differential in MF. VDV if he can't find some form might be a good shout.

I'd steer clear of Nani for now, Valencia coming back + Young in good form means rotation beckons. I also think no Rooney may hurt you rather than help you, although Ba could score big this week and is turning out to be a differential now. Not a fan of Suarez.

    Dempsey Sigurdsson Young Bale

    Subs order: Miyachi, Kelly, Simpson

    Lineup looks right?

I am still considering it. I think Denial or Duffman said King could be rotated when Gallas is back on the block, so Kaboul and King may not be better for long term.

If I need some cash for a future transfer then I am almost certain to do BAE-->Kaboul/King. Looking to do Ba-->Balotelli soon.

For now it is safe enough because I have no clue what is going on with Gallas. I am keeping BAE until I desperately need some cash.

On your point below, I would not bother with Hernandez. It is unlikely that him and Welbeck will play with Rooney, one or other. I am just leaving it a week to see what to do about United wingers.

Yeah sounds good, bar Chelsea away their next few games are looking favourable. Although, with Rooney in there, Nani might not be essential especially given the form of Young and return of Valencia. Not sure how risky you're wanting to play it, but VDV? Or Bale would be the safer bet, form's not great though.

no, i dont think so. he had a couple of decent efforts early on that Howard done well to save. He done the right thing passing to Gerrard who had the goal at his mercy. It was a unselfish act from a usually selfish player. Was good to see.

You think they should just update ranks at the same time every morning after a game? Say 9am the day after? Not sure if i'd prefer it but it certainly would mean a lot less refreshing!!! They did it with the BPs so perhaps they will do it next season?

Wow, I didn't have any Liverpool players play tonight, and got Senderos subbed in with 2 points, yet my rank still improved from 198K to 192K, bit wierd considering the ownership of the likes of Enrique and Suarez?

Glen Johnson has been a disastrous move for me, got him in for Agger for a hit, I needed to, yet he's missed Arsenal and a DGW and taken up a huge chunk of my budget. I may as well have just kept Agger, then I needn't have downgraded Vermaelen to afford Rooney! Barstool.

Anyway going forward, does anyone think that Kelly's performance tonight poses a long term threat to GJ's place in the side? Because he still looks a good option for the upcoming fixtures if he plays.

Alreet lads. I've seen a few of you on here commenting that Ba was fatigued after the arsenal match, and suggesting that was down to the african nations cup???? I think that it is more likely down to the fact that he was playing as a lone striker, but spent half of the game sprinting back to defence to help out. Including in the last few minutes. Of course he was knackered!! Anybody who still has him would be crazy to sell before norwich at home.
