After being shifted around the West Brom midfield all season, it seems as if James Morrison has finally found a home. Used on both wings and through the middle in a conventional 4-4-2 by Roy Hodgson, Morrison’s versatility proved ultimately detrimental to his Fantasy prospects but a recent change of formation has coincided with a rise to prominence…

Afforded a role in the hole behind Marc-Antoine Fortune as the Baggies moved to 4-4-1-1, Morrison’s ascent as a viable mid-price Fantasy option has gone hand-in-hand with a climb up the table for the midlands outfit. A recent three-match winning streak was brought to an end at Old Trafford on Sunday, but a record of four wins and a draw from the last seven is indicative of their upturn in fortunes.

Morrison has been crucial for Hodgson over this recent period, grabbing two goals and four assists as the likes of Stoke, Chelsea and Sunderland were swept aside. Indeed, a breakdown of his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) stats shows that, prior to the Gameweek 22 win at the Britannia, Morrison had averaged just 2.4 points per game but since then, he’s jumped to 5.6, despite recent blanks against Chelsea and United.

With summer signing Shane Long now struggling for first team starts and Peter Odemwingie stationed wide right, Hodgson’s bold decision to dismantle his previously lacklustre attack has proved dividend. West Brom had scored a mere 20 goals in 21 games before the win at Stoke – since then, they’ve netted 14 in seven; a huge improvement that has Fantasy managers examining their attacking talents with renewed vigour.

A look at the upcoming fixture schedule suggests West Brom will be afforded plenty opportunity to maintain their good form. Hodgson’s side face a trip to Wigan and host Newcastle, Blackburn and QPR in the next six Gameweeks – all could be potentially profitable for the Baggies attacking assets.

With Odemwingie set to miss out on the potentially profitable trip to Wigan with a calf complaint, Morrison – at a mere 5.4 – offers ideal coverage of West Brom’s attacking talent against the basement club. Indeed, with game time guaranteed and a mere 1.3% ownership, the Scot looks well-placed to maintain his role as cut-price differential over the next few weeks, as Hodgson looks to steer his side to safety and beyond.

    Hi guys,

    Completely lost with my team. Failed to get Rooney last week and now he is at 12.5!
    Instead I got Nani who is nowhere to be seen.

    Should I drop 4 pts to put my house and do:
    Ba -> Rooney
    Nani -> Morrison

    Ba and Nani could both do well this week...

      Don't do it yet. Wait until next week. Save the hit - you should be ok.

    Going to pull the trigger on my second transfer this week, rather than wait a week. Decided to keep Simpson and sell Kelly - just not sure he's going to keep his place whereas Simpson is nailed on. If I sell Simpson I can't get him back as had him since the start at 4.0. Can always swap him for Kelly later if needs be but doubt that be worth a transfer. Also have Sinclair so don't really want a Fulham cleanie anyway, I'll take a punt on Evans down at Wolves...

    So Evans in to complete my Utd-City-Spurs-Pool back four with Simpson and Naylor on the bench. Happy with that.

      Huh? Kelly has 90 in 10 out of the last 11 games, the only game he missed he was injured..

    Does anyone think Rooney will be a rotation risk this week against wolves or is the win too important with the close run in

      IMO SAF cant take risks now, its time to put the pressure on city, so rooni should be nailed on.
      on teh other hand, its sir Alex, the third most unpredictable manager in the league (behind the rotation freaks mancini and lambert)

    Anyone who's following Bayern: What's up with Rafinha? Should I keep him for the APOEL tie? He didn't play against Basel. Should I switch him to Badstuber in a 2-point sideways transfer?

      Rafinha doesnt look like hes gonna play a part in the CL again, Lahm switched to right back and Alabas done well at left back (so far)...cant advise you on transfers though, dont play the CL game

      Bayern haven't been happy with either Rafinha or Boateng at right-back this season, and are interested in signing Mathieu Debuchy.

      So while Rafinha was absent against Basel due to a flu virus, noises coming from Bayern indicate that Lahm could stay at right-back (with Alaba at left-back) for a little longer. Lahm said yesterday that "it looks like it could stay that way for a while" and that he was happy with this.

        Cheers. Is Boateng safe then? Who'd you really have from the Bayern defence apart from Lahm, regardless of price? Badstuber?

    Current team for this week is

    Vorm (ful) (Sorensen)
    Kompany (CHE)/Senderos(SWA)/Evans(wol)/Simpson(NOR)
    Dempsey(SWA)(vc)/Valencia(wol)/Siggurdson(ful)
    Rooney(wol)(c)/RVP(eve)/Ba(NOR)

    Subs: Sinclair(ful)/Miyaichi(villa)/Taiwo(LIV)

    1 FT: 1.6m in bank

    With Kompany unlikely to feaure and Valencia a doubt, I might be relying on the squad members so where should I concentrate on in the transfers.

    Looking at bringing in the likes of Morrison(wig/NEW/eve/BLA/mci), McAuley and/or Caulker (and his great bps) and need to get rid of Taiwo (and possibly Sinclair to make room for Caulker). In addition, there switch from Dempsey to Bale for GW31 is high on my list of priorities.

    Do I simply switch Taiwo -> McAuley before price falls or go for make room for Caulker by switching Sinclair to Morrison (probably dropping Siggy to bench)?
