James Morrison is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks after sustaining a knee injury against Newcastle on Sunday. Carlos Tevez could start for City on Saturday, while both Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero may return. Anders Lindegaard is uncertain when he will overcome an ankle injury, David Moyes is full of praise for Nikica Jelavic, and Victor Moses could be ready to return this weekend for Wigan, after positive scans on a facial injury sustained at Liverpool.

West Brom are hopeful that James Morrison will return before the end of the season after picking up a knee injury in Sunday’s home defeat by Newcastle. Scans have revealed the midfielder has damaged the medial ligament in his left knee and, while he is expected to be sidelined for weeks, Morrison has already started rehabilitation at the club’s training ground. The club’s head of medical services, Mark Gillett, revealed:

We’ve had positive news on James. We came to the conclusion on Sunday that it would more likely be a medial ligament issue, rather than a cruciate one, but you can’t be 100 per cent sure until the swelling has receded and you get the injury scanned. The outcome means that his rehab period will be more a case of weeks than months and, if all goes to plan, he should be able to play against this season.

Morrison’s absence vacates a role in the hole, with the likes of Chris Brunt perhaps prepared to step up, if Roy Hodgson decides to afford the playmaker a more attacking role in the Baggies midfield. Brunt has mainly filled in on the flanks since recovering from an ankle injury but, with Morrison now sidelined, Hodgson has a ready-made replacement available ahead of next weekend’s trip to Everton.

David De Gea’s Fantasy owners can relax a little after Anders Lindegaard admitted he is uncertain over a likely return date from an ankle problem. The latter had leapt ahead of the summer signing in the pecking order for United, having played five of their six fixtures between Gameweek 17-22 but is set to remain sidelined with the injury, picked up in training back in January. Lindegaard went on to reveal:

Of course I hope to have some involvement in the final part of the season. I want to contribute to winning the championship more than I have done so far. It has been a frustrating time, but that’s how life goes. I don’t know when I will be back, so I just have to keep smiling. It is the worst possible time for anyone to get injured.

Reports today suggest Carlos Tevez could be set to start for City against Sunderland this weekend. With both Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko failing to impress of late, it’s been alleged that City have centred their training plans with a start for Tevez in mind. If the Argentine can cement a starting role, he could prove to be the ultimate end of season differential as City look to chase down United at the top of the table, though a price tag of 11.7 is likely to deter investors, with question marks still against his first-team role right now.

Further reports suggest City could be set to welcome back Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany for the Black Cats’ visit on Saturday. Aguero is on course to recover from the foot problem that forced him out of the trip to Stoke, while Kompany has missed the last three with a calf injury; with City conceding in each of those matches, his absence has been sorely felt. Joleon Lescott may continue to miss out for Roberto Mancini’s men, with rest the only answer to his on-going groin problem.

David Moyes has backed Nikica Jelavic to grab the goals for Everton, with the January signing now beginning to establish himself in the Toffees first-team. Jelavic has bagged two goals in three starts since arriving from Glasgow Rangers and, having overcome injuries, has now featured in Moyes’ first XI in the last two, scoring against Swansea last weekend.

I think he has done quite well. When he came he had a bit of a problem with his stomach and he has missed a few weeks but he has given us something slightly different and scored a couple of goals. It can weigh on you (not scoring) and we have had other centre-forwards here who have found it a struggle to score.

With games against West Brom, Norwich and Sunderland up next, Jelavic – priced at 5.9 – is another forward with the potential to be a decent differential over the last eight gameweeks, as Moyes looks to increase a goal threat that has harvested just 30 goals from 30 games thus far.

Victor Moses could be back in the Wigan lineup this weekend, after scans revealed he has not suffered a fractured jaw. The 5.0 midfielder was subbed off at Anfield following a challenge by Martin Skrtel but Roberto Martinez confirmed the prognosis was positive earlier today:

We got him checked out straight away in the hospital because there was the potential for a fractured bone in his face. The results came back really positive and there was no fracture which allows us to treat him. We will see within the next few days whether he is available for selection on Saturday.

The Latics boss also revealed Hugo Rodallega and Mohamed Diame could be on course for quick returns from knee and groin injuries respectively, with both players to be assessed ahead of the weekend game against Stoke.

Beleaguered Wolves boss Terry Connor received some good injury news regarding his injury-stricken midfield earlier today. Karl Henry, David Davis and Stephen Hunt have all returned to training this week, with Henry confident of a return to the first-team fold in the crucial Molineux encounter against Bolton on Saturday. Connor also revealed he is sweating on the availability of Michael Kightly, after a challenge by Grant Holt forced the winger off with an ankle problem towards the end of the 2-1 defeat at Norwich.

Agree Baines has slightly better fixtures. Still fancy Verm though in a better side with better FPL prospects. His score would be immense for a def had he been fit all season, even with Arsenal's poor form at times.

Europa League Group B Matchday 6 Preview

    Standings
    1st Duffman -12
    2nd Milanista – 9
    3rd Sarnab – 6
    4th Tranferaddict – 3

    Sarnab vs Transferaddict
    Milanista vs Duffman

    The Permutations

Duffman has qualified from the group and a draw or victory against me will give him bragging rights as group winner.

Victory for me will see me overtake Duffman as group winner on head to head results. If I lose and Sarnab wins he will go through on head to head results, his 6 points so far all coming against me (git).

Transferaddict has been eliminated though he can avoid the wooden spoon award by beating Sarnab.

    Sarnab vs Transferaddict

    GW30 Teams

Sarnab: Vorm, Caulker, Enrique, Evans, Sess, Valencia, Siggy, Bale, Ba, Rooney, RVP(c) (Krul, Dempsey, Simpson, Kelly) 44 points

Transferaddict: Mignolet, Caulker, McAuley, Evans, Walcott, Valencia, Siggy, Bale, Balotelli, Rooney, RVP(c) (Schwarzer, Williamson, Dempsey, Riise) 47 points

Sarnab has made one transfer so far this week, most likely Ba to Cisse. Unsurprisingly, Transferaddict has taken a hit already.

    Predicted Lineups

Sarnab: Krul, Kelly, Enrique, Evans, Dempsey, Valencia, Siggy, Bale, Cisse, Rooney, RVP(c) (Vorm, Sess, Simpson, Caulker)

Transferaddict: Schwarzer, Riise, Wilkinson, Evans, Walcott, Valencia, Dempsey, Bale, Adebayor, Rooney, RVP(c) (Mignolet, Siggy, McAuley, Dempsey, Caulker)

Prediction: With an 8 point advantage going into the tie Sarnab is the clear favourite for this one.

    Milanista vs Duffman

    GW30 Teams

Milanista: Vorm, Vermaelen, Skrtel, Evans, Ryo, Valencia, McClean, Bale, Ba, Rooney(c), RVP (Krul, Dempsey, Shotton, Kelly) 61 points

Duffman: Mignolet, Caulker, Enrique, Evans, Walcott, Valencia, Siggy, Dempsey, Ba, Rooney, RVP(c) (Schwarzer, Raylor, Kelly, Dyer) 47 points

Me and Duffman have both made one transfer so far, kicking Ba out. Duffman has replaced him with the bandwagon of the week whereas I have gotten onboard the Robot Rollercoaster.

Duffman has so far resisted my attempts get him to follow my GW30 example and take a hit to replace Enrique with Vermaelen. I have another transfer lined up.

    Predicted Lineups

Milanista: Krul, Vermaelen, Evans, Mister X, Ryo, Valencia, Dempsey, Bale, Crouch, Rooney, RVP(c), (Vorm, Kelly, Shotton, McClean)

Duffman: Schwarzer, Raylor, Kelly, Evans, Walcott, Valencia, Siggy, Dempsey, Cisse, Rooney, RVP(c) (Mignolet, Enrique, Dyer, Caulker)

(Biased) Prediction: A tough one to call with several differences between the teams and my home advantage being cancelled out by a hit. Facing the threat of elimination but also the prospect of group winning glory, I am unable to picture anything but a home win.

    Schwarzer (Vorm)
    Evans, Simpson, Skrtel (Kelly, Caulker)
    Bale, Dempsey, Valencia, Sigs (McClean)
    RVP, Rooney, Suarez

I have £2.4m in the bank, so selling Kelly can afford a defender up to 6.3.

I'd really like Verm, but have 1 FT, so instead I'm thinking Sagna at 6.1. Or Cahill/Kaboul?

Which of the 3? I could then play one of those 3 over Skrtel or Evans this week.

Sagna still has plenty of attacking threat, though I saw a very heskey-esque shot from him the other week, sliced it out for a throw from in front of goal 😛

i done skrtel to verm,,,,almost have exact same team as you..and same amount of money

play verm and evans and then the 3rd def that has the best chance of a clean sheet

Yeah, Skrtel to Verm is tempting, then maybe Bardsley or Turner for Kelly in a week or two.

The Liverpool defence is ropey without Agger and Johnson..

    Evening all,

So im 140 ahead in mini-league, and barring a cataclismic collapse, I should win the cash! 🙂

So my aim now is to finish as high as I can overall, currently just inside top 15k.

I have 2 freebies, but Im willing to take a 4 point hit to do the following

    Enrique > Verm
    Dyer > Walcott
    Ba > Cisse

But just have 0.2m to spare, and Verm and Cisse wil prob rise tonight.

So worth doing do you think?!

Dont get rid of Ba for a hit, he's still on pens and playing well. If he hadn't been fouled on Sunday he would have received and one would imagine scored Ben Arfas cut-back. He's done nothing wrong.

If you get rid for Cisse for a hit then CIsse has to score twice and Ba does nothing to justify the transfer. Highly unlikely against pool. Although they are utter gash this season they play well against teams around their own standard.

    Ok folks

VDV/Clint and Santon (as a cheap 5th defender)

    or

Barfa/Miyachi (as a cheap rotating 4th mid) and Baines?

The 2nd would require me to wait until GW34/35 depending on re-arrangements. 1st could be done with 1 or no transfers (GW33 plan)

Skrtel -> Verm and Ba -> Adebayor for a -4 point hit?

Or should I only do one of them and do the other transfer before the following gw?(would prolly play Ba vs. Liverpool then).

    Cheers

Fair point, but rotation or inconsistent form is affecting all the 3rd striker options - we've seen that with Holt. What about P.Cisse? Or does your religion prevent it ;o)

I've gone round in circles from Pog to Ade to Yak to Cisse, weighing up the third spot. Still uncertain!

          Nice score by the way.

Cheers mate. Yeah had couple of mags in earlier and swore never again. Cisse looks good tho. I also want to get siggy, cahill and walcott in over next few weeks so transfersare precious.

I liked the look of jelavic tonight tho so think I'm gonna take a punt. Norwich have everton, city and spurs when holt comes back so unlikely to get much out of holding onto him. Get jelavic in, give him a few weeks, see what happens and move on if need be. Sorted 🙂

Good plan. Siggy and Walcott are also tempting me; was thinking of hanging on to Silva this week and saw your comment below, but can't help feel Walcott could run amok against QPR. Just trying to avoid any knee-jerk 4pt hits at this stage; 90pts ahead in my mini-league with a ton up for grabs so want no cock-ups!!

With this current squad and 1FT / £3.3m in the bank, who would you transfer out/bring in?

    Vorm Sorenson
    Enrique Skrtel Evans Kelly Williamson
    Silva Bale Dempsey McClean Valencia
    RVP Rooney Pog

Skrtel, Silva, Pog, Sorenson will all go over the coming weeks - which would you do first?

LONG POST WARNING - 3RD STRIKER OPTIONS

Second long post of the night. I started looking through 3rd striker options the other night and putting a post together. Made my decision and got bored so didn't get through the lot (you will notice the writing dry up towards the end) but thought I would share what I put together.

Working my way down from the top of the fixture ticker, here are the 3rd striker options:

    Swansea

    Danny Graham £5.1m 108 pts, 8.2% ownership

    Pros
    - Great fixtures
    - Nailed on
    - On pens when Sinclair isn’t on the pitch
    - Cheap

    Cons
    - Takes up a Swansea spot
    - Graham and Siggy could be considered overkill for a team that isn’t very prolific
    - He has recently shown Moses-like consistency by scoring 2 points 5 times in a row

Conclusion: An option though I would rather get Siggy and look elsewhere for a striker

    Manchester United

    Javier Hernandez £9.9m, 99 pts, 3.6%

    Pros
    - Great fixtures
    - Plays for a team that score a lot of goals
    - Will always be most advanced forward, none of this playing deep shit

    Cons
    - Rotation risk
    - Takes up a valuable United spot
    - Expensive

Conclusion: Better to have Evans, Valencia and Rooney

    Danny Welbeck £6.5m, 86 pts, 4.7%

Same as above. Welbeck is cheaper but has the added disadvantage of being at risk of getting shifted to the wing

    Arsenal

No 3rd striker options here, RVP is number 1

    Peter Crouch £6.2m, 103 pts, 2.3%

    Pros
    - Wigan away and Wolves at home are his next two games
    - Must be feeling confident after that goal
    - Has the incentive of trying to get into the England squad
    - Nailed on

    Cons
    - Stoke don’t score many goals and tend to be poor away from home
    - 1 double digit score all season
    - Not a prolific goalscorer

Conclusion: I’m tempted, Wigan and Wolves are very appealing games. However, not sure I can stomach the site of Peter Crouch in my team

Emmanuel Adebayor aka DAD £9m, 147 points, 9.1%

    Pros
    - 11 goals and 12 assists make him the 4th highest scoring striker in the game
    - Great fixtures until the end of the season
    - Focal point of the attack
    - Spurs tend to get a decent amount of goals
    - Nailed on
    - When he scores you can enjoy Doosra’s smug posts

    Cons
    - Spurs and Ade have been in poor form lately
    - Expensive
    - Owning this donkey is extremely frustrating. There is a good reason the words DIE ADEBAYOR DIE have been said many times on this site. Maddeningly inconsistent and excruciating to watch

Conclusion: Potentially an excellent option though Spurs showing some form would make it more appealing

    Demba Ba £7.8m 146 pts 22.7%

    Pros
    - Proven FPL performer
    - On pens
    - Nailed on

    Cons
    - This guy and his scores of 2,2,-1,2,2,2 are the reason for this bloody post
    - Now playing deep or even worse left wing

Conclusion: On the brink of being booted for a hit

    Papiss Cisse £6.7m 38 pts 1.9%

    Pros
    - 5 goals in 6 games since arriving in the Premier League
    - Will always be the most advanced forward

    Cons
    - Still a risk that he could be benched in tough games for a more defensive outlook
    - Having ruined Ba, Cisse is a thoroughly unlikeable chap
    - You just know that if you bring him in he’ll do nothing and Ba will score

Conclusion: I don’t think I can cope with the prospect of bringing him in to get 2 points and seeing Ba scoring

Bolton – no options here. Klasnic would be if he started games but Coyle has inexplicably made David ‘2 goals all season’ Ngog first choice

    Sunderland

    Nicklas Bendtner £6.1m, 92 pts, 0.8%

    Pros
    - Better than Lionel Messi
    - On pens
    - 3 goals in 4 and Sunderland in decent form

    Cons
    - http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01119/nicklas-bendtner_1119691c.jpg
    - Perpetrator of some of the worst misses known to man
    - Quite simply, he’s crap

Conclusion: Never again shall a ticket on the Bendy Bus be bought

West Brom – eve, BLA, mci, QPR, liv, AVL

    Peter Odemwingie £7.3m, 95 pts, 3.6%

Fulham – NOR, bol, CHE, blank (liv), WIG, eve

    Pog

Everton – WBA, nor, SUN, sto, mun, FUL

    Jelavic

Chelsea – avl, WIG, ful, blank (NEW), ars, QPR

Not convinced any of Drogba, Sturridge or Torres are worth it. With FA Cup, CL games and a new manager there are too many questions over gametime. Drogba would be my pick if I went for a Chelsea striker. Don’t fancy Sturridge at the moment and wouldn’t go near Torres

Liverpool – new, AVL,bla, blank, WBA, nor

    Ratboy the Racist

    Pros
    - Has shown some form recently
    - Often looks like he is close to a big haul

    Cons
    - I don’t have all night

Conclusion: He often looks close to a big haul but his finishing and Liverpool’s attack in general simply hasn’t convinced all season

Manchester City – Sun, ars, WBA, nor, wol, MUN

    Kun, Super Mario, Dzeko, Tevez

Wolves – in free fall, lets not got there

Aston Villa – crap, negative team, lets not go there

Blackburn – MUN, wba, LIV, swa, NOR, tot

    The Yak

    Hoilett

Nor – ful, EVE, tot, MCI, bla, LIV

    Grant Holt

    Wigan – No, just no

QPR – Zamora could be an option but the fixtures are horrendous

the only guy who was even remotely worth looking at was Rodallega, he is either injured or out of favour.

I think I might as well just leave the Yak in and get VdV in the midfield to partner Bale.

Anyone got any short stories about sunday league football that would make good story telling content? Just a minute or so long, preferably funny, not just a fight or something, something more than that.
