James Morrison is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks after sustaining a knee injury against Newcastle on Sunday. Carlos Tevez could start for City on Saturday, while both Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero may return. Anders Lindegaard is uncertain when he will overcome an ankle injury, David Moyes is full of praise for Nikica Jelavic, and Victor Moses could be ready to return this weekend for Wigan, after positive scans on a facial injury sustained at Liverpool.

West Brom are hopeful that James Morrison will return before the end of the season after picking up a knee injury in Sunday’s home defeat by Newcastle. Scans have revealed the midfielder has damaged the medial ligament in his left knee and, while he is expected to be sidelined for weeks, Morrison has already started rehabilitation at the club’s training ground. The club’s head of medical services, Mark Gillett, revealed:

We’ve had positive news on James. We came to the conclusion on Sunday that it would more likely be a medial ligament issue, rather than a cruciate one, but you can’t be 100 per cent sure until the swelling has receded and you get the injury scanned. The outcome means that his rehab period will be more a case of weeks than months and, if all goes to plan, he should be able to play against this season.

Morrison’s absence vacates a role in the hole, with the likes of Chris Brunt perhaps prepared to step up, if Roy Hodgson decides to afford the playmaker a more attacking role in the Baggies midfield. Brunt has mainly filled in on the flanks since recovering from an ankle injury but, with Morrison now sidelined, Hodgson has a ready-made replacement available ahead of next weekend’s trip to Everton.

David De Gea’s Fantasy owners can relax a little after Anders Lindegaard admitted he is uncertain over a likely return date from an ankle problem. The latter had leapt ahead of the summer signing in the pecking order for United, having played five of their six fixtures between Gameweek 17-22 but is set to remain sidelined with the injury, picked up in training back in January. Lindegaard went on to reveal:

Of course I hope to have some involvement in the final part of the season. I want to contribute to winning the championship more than I have done so far. It has been a frustrating time, but that’s how life goes. I don’t know when I will be back, so I just have to keep smiling. It is the worst possible time for anyone to get injured.

Reports today suggest Carlos Tevez could be set to start for City against Sunderland this weekend. With both Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko failing to impress of late, it’s been alleged that City have centred their training plans with a start for Tevez in mind. If the Argentine can cement a starting role, he could prove to be the ultimate end of season differential as City look to chase down United at the top of the table, though a price tag of 11.7 is likely to deter investors, with question marks still against his first-team role right now.

Further reports suggest City could be set to welcome back Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany for the Black Cats’ visit on Saturday. Aguero is on course to recover from the foot problem that forced him out of the trip to Stoke, while Kompany has missed the last three with a calf injury; with City conceding in each of those matches, his absence has been sorely felt. Joleon Lescott may continue to miss out for Roberto Mancini’s men, with rest the only answer to his on-going groin problem.

David Moyes has backed Nikica Jelavic to grab the goals for Everton, with the January signing now beginning to establish himself in the Toffees first-team. Jelavic has bagged two goals in three starts since arriving from Glasgow Rangers and, having overcome injuries, has now featured in Moyes’ first XI in the last two, scoring against Swansea last weekend.

I think he has done quite well. When he came he had a bit of a problem with his stomach and he has missed a few weeks but he has given us something slightly different and scored a couple of goals. It can weigh on you (not scoring) and we have had other centre-forwards here who have found it a struggle to score.

With games against West Brom, Norwich and Sunderland up next, Jelavic – priced at 5.9 – is another forward with the potential to be a decent differential over the last eight gameweeks, as Moyes looks to increase a goal threat that has harvested just 30 goals from 30 games thus far.

Victor Moses could be back in the Wigan lineup this weekend, after scans revealed he has not suffered a fractured jaw. The 5.0 midfielder was subbed off at Anfield following a challenge by Martin Skrtel but Roberto Martinez confirmed the prognosis was positive earlier today:

We got him checked out straight away in the hospital because there was the potential for a fractured bone in his face. The results came back really positive and there was no fracture which allows us to treat him. We will see within the next few days whether he is available for selection on Saturday.

The Latics boss also revealed Hugo Rodallega and Mohamed Diame could be on course for quick returns from knee and groin injuries respectively, with both players to be assessed ahead of the weekend game against Stoke.

Beleaguered Wolves boss Terry Connor received some good injury news regarding his injury-stricken midfield earlier today. Karl Henry, David Davis and Stephen Hunt have all returned to training this week, with Henry confident of a return to the first-team fold in the crucial Molineux encounter against Bolton on Saturday. Connor also revealed he is sweating on the availability of Michael Kightly, after a challenge by Grant Holt forced the winger off with an ankle problem towards the end of the 2-1 defeat at Norwich.

Having these 2 Liverpool players is torture at the moment! I'm not that concerned about holding onto Suarez (who is at least scoring a goal or two now) but i'd happily dump Enrique despite the useful upcoming fixtures.

    Krul Mignolet

Still no Adam Johnson love out there? City need to play with more width and he's their only winger. Nailed on to start at least 2 of the next 3 games (can make an impact from the bench as well though), tiny ownership, only £7m and 2 very appealing home fixtures on the horizon, with a guaranteed fixture in GW34.

Very nice fixtures. As a Wigan fan (we're rather abysmal this season but we're going into survival mode and could put up a fight, also managed to get a win over Stoke when we played at their ground, last game, last season - doesn't count for loads but it's confidence taken into the game.

Admittedly nice fixtures still, however I'd still put a bet on Cisse gaining more points over the next few GWs.

Guess it just depends on whether you're catching in your ML and your overall gut feeling, I always try and go for the gut.

When I've gone for other people's instead of my own it fails more often that not!

Cisse is definitely the new Newcastle main man, Jelavic has shown his worth too, they've got half decent fixtures but don't often seem to score highly.

Decisions decisions 🙂 I've already blindly made mine, will likely be made to pay but I'm far too impatient to wait!

He wasn't great..then again he wasn't atrocious. He had a few good moments against a determined Bolton but never truly looked clinical.

That said...you could see a renewed Spurs side in their next game after their performance, which is even better considering it's at their ground. Bale was sublime at times and played well with Ade, plenty of chances on goal for Spurs and we've got to look back at the time he gained 4 assists and 1 goal in the match against Newcastle (another top defending team) - all of this after a long run of 2 pointers.

When he's on form, he's can be pretty special so hoping that the match versus Swansea will be an example of that.

...oh and I did Ba > Ade before the game too, so this may be slightly bias 😀

Ade was alright. His finishing was poor though. That said he should of bagged a goal and at least one assist vdv missed the one on one. Look at swanseas results without caulker you will be surprised at how dodgy they are, ade will do well.

Took crazy 8 point hit for this gw... I am going to repent!

    BA -> Crouch
    Young -> Valencia
    Shotton -> Verm

Defense : Richards, Evans, Verm, Enrique, Angel Rangel
Mid: Bale, Valencia, Walcott, Mcclean, Tiote
    Fw: Rooney, RVP, Crouch

32nd gw: tiote -> sigg is the plan...

defense is heavy and if it doesnt pay off, i think i will lose badly in h2h league, since everyone got cheap defense and heavy mid

Ba to Crouch, meh. I understand the fixtures and goal just think there are better options.
Young to Valencia, guess it frees up money and Valencia is the form player.
Shotton to Verm is a great transfer.

Is certainly a strong, expensive defence, could pay off well though, good attacking potential from nearly all of them.

Midfield is very similar to mine, except Dempsey for your Walcot and Siggy for your Tiote - mine is more standard so yours could bring very nice differentials though.

Could strikeforce too, Crouch is the differential, just gotta hope he can score some more of them wondergoals 🙂

Thanks Kirby for filling me with some confidence... Hope Crouch is good differential and can get some goals... I might have kept BA for this gw and could have avoided the hit , but like i told it was a desperate impulsive transfer to get some points...

I even considered Jelavic and fletcher but looks like they all have the same potential and none of their respective teams score big... I forgot about pog though .... shit!

Crouch could very well get some goals, has good fixtures I just think that the wondergoal had too much influence on his growing bangwagon. Nicer fixtures than Ba too, who we know is playing deep now with Cisse holding pretty much all the goal potential in his position.

Pog could have been good but Crouch does have nice fixtures though, so wouldn't worry about it too much - I've gone for Ade and he's probably shown less form than Crouch so I should be more worried 😆

I assume that you are happy Tevez is back?

I mean by that that even if you detest him and what he may have done/is doing to your team in many ways ... he *is* a 'winner' and a gamer. He likely saved you two points already and will surely be crucial for the run-in.

I'm predicting him to be ready to start vs. Utd.

Tevez will always be a c*nt in my view, but for the time being he is our world class c*nt.
He's a definite boost for the squad and brings something fresh into a squad where players are beginning to burn out like Silva.

            Hoping for the best 🙂

Norwich are pretty abysmal at clean sheets --- Liverpool have a good defence.

Fulham at home --- Newcastle away

Ba playing deep --- Pog up front

      I'd go Pog.

Oops! Still think Pog though, in this case, home or away won't have a true significance on the position in which Ba plays, which if trend continues, will be behind Cisse.

You really should have taken him out, not been a shadow on his former start-of-the-season self for a while and is rapidly dropping in value. Take him out while you can and make a good change up to bulk up your strikeforce.

Likes of Silva out for Valencia, Aguero out for Rooney and Jelavic in for Ba.

Viewpoint A: "Defensively we never looked in any danger. They had some set plays but, apart from that, Petr [Cech] only had a few saves to make and they were mostly from long range."

Viewpoint B: "We were the best team for most of the game, we produced most of the chances," claimed Benfica coach Jorge Jesus.

just watched the chelsea highlights. from what I saw can definitely say that Chelsea were lucky to keep a cleansheet!

      Hi Newman

I have exactly the same decisions to make this week. I think I might solve the Skrtl question by swapping him for Cahill, even though that may not be the best idea. It seems that Chelsea will have a DGW if they beat Benfica so maybe its an idea to buy early before the rush.Skrtl always looks a threat from corners etc and with Agger back for Liverpool and decent fixtures he could be worth hanging on to. In other words, I don't know and can't decide.

Vorm vs Bogdan? I'd expect both to concede so I guess the question is who will get the most save points. Again, no idea.

      I hope that helps!
