James Morrison is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks after sustaining a knee injury against Newcastle on Sunday. Carlos Tevez could start for City on Saturday, while both Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero may return. Anders Lindegaard is uncertain when he will overcome an ankle injury, David Moyes is full of praise for Nikica Jelavic, and Victor Moses could be ready to return this weekend for Wigan, after positive scans on a facial injury sustained at Liverpool.

West Brom are hopeful that James Morrison will return before the end of the season after picking up a knee injury in Sunday’s home defeat by Newcastle. Scans have revealed the midfielder has damaged the medial ligament in his left knee and, while he is expected to be sidelined for weeks, Morrison has already started rehabilitation at the club’s training ground. The club’s head of medical services, Mark Gillett, revealed:

We’ve had positive news on James. We came to the conclusion on Sunday that it would more likely be a medial ligament issue, rather than a cruciate one, but you can’t be 100 per cent sure until the swelling has receded and you get the injury scanned. The outcome means that his rehab period will be more a case of weeks than months and, if all goes to plan, he should be able to play against this season.

Morrison’s absence vacates a role in the hole, with the likes of Chris Brunt perhaps prepared to step up, if Roy Hodgson decides to afford the playmaker a more attacking role in the Baggies midfield. Brunt has mainly filled in on the flanks since recovering from an ankle injury but, with Morrison now sidelined, Hodgson has a ready-made replacement available ahead of next weekend’s trip to Everton.

David De Gea’s Fantasy owners can relax a little after Anders Lindegaard admitted he is uncertain over a likely return date from an ankle problem. The latter had leapt ahead of the summer signing in the pecking order for United, having played five of their six fixtures between Gameweek 17-22 but is set to remain sidelined with the injury, picked up in training back in January. Lindegaard went on to reveal:

Of course I hope to have some involvement in the final part of the season. I want to contribute to winning the championship more than I have done so far. It has been a frustrating time, but that’s how life goes. I don’t know when I will be back, so I just have to keep smiling. It is the worst possible time for anyone to get injured.

Reports today suggest Carlos Tevez could be set to start for City against Sunderland this weekend. With both Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko failing to impress of late, it’s been alleged that City have centred their training plans with a start for Tevez in mind. If the Argentine can cement a starting role, he could prove to be the ultimate end of season differential as City look to chase down United at the top of the table, though a price tag of 11.7 is likely to deter investors, with question marks still against his first-team role right now.

Further reports suggest City could be set to welcome back Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany for the Black Cats’ visit on Saturday. Aguero is on course to recover from the foot problem that forced him out of the trip to Stoke, while Kompany has missed the last three with a calf injury; with City conceding in each of those matches, his absence has been sorely felt. Joleon Lescott may continue to miss out for Roberto Mancini’s men, with rest the only answer to his on-going groin problem.

David Moyes has backed Nikica Jelavic to grab the goals for Everton, with the January signing now beginning to establish himself in the Toffees first-team. Jelavic has bagged two goals in three starts since arriving from Glasgow Rangers and, having overcome injuries, has now featured in Moyes’ first XI in the last two, scoring against Swansea last weekend.

I think he has done quite well. When he came he had a bit of a problem with his stomach and he has missed a few weeks but he has given us something slightly different and scored a couple of goals. It can weigh on you (not scoring) and we have had other centre-forwards here who have found it a struggle to score.

With games against West Brom, Norwich and Sunderland up next, Jelavic – priced at 5.9 – is another forward with the potential to be a decent differential over the last eight gameweeks, as Moyes looks to increase a goal threat that has harvested just 30 goals from 30 games thus far.

Victor Moses could be back in the Wigan lineup this weekend, after scans revealed he has not suffered a fractured jaw. The 5.0 midfielder was subbed off at Anfield following a challenge by Martin Skrtel but Roberto Martinez confirmed the prognosis was positive earlier today:

We got him checked out straight away in the hospital because there was the potential for a fractured bone in his face. The results came back really positive and there was no fracture which allows us to treat him. We will see within the next few days whether he is available for selection on Saturday.

The Latics boss also revealed Hugo Rodallega and Mohamed Diame could be on course for quick returns from knee and groin injuries respectively, with both players to be assessed ahead of the weekend game against Stoke.

Beleaguered Wolves boss Terry Connor received some good injury news regarding his injury-stricken midfield earlier today. Karl Henry, David Davis and Stephen Hunt have all returned to training this week, with Henry confident of a return to the first-team fold in the crucial Molineux encounter against Bolton on Saturday. Connor also revealed he is sweating on the availability of Michael Kightly, after a challenge by Grant Holt forced the winger off with an ankle problem towards the end of the 2-1 defeat at Norwich.

Took a punt on Enrique > Cahill. Chasing a 60 pt lead and its time to take a few risks. Got a decent back line already so its no issue if he misses 1 or 2 games. Good move?

Depends on your position. Im chasing so ive gone for Stoke defence. Set pieces is what theyre all about and at home they shut out most teams and they have Wigan Wolves Villa and Everton next 4, all teams who both struggle to score and all concede alot from set pieces. But obviously Verm is a total beast, goal threat, Arsenal keeping cleanies as of late and he`s a BP magnet as well

I know I poo-pooed Verm last night, but if you plan to get him, why not now?

Saves the transfer for something else and you could either sit him or hope for points for him. I think I'd go for Cahill - too lazy to check your team - if you don't have -- Chels are fighting for their lives/jobs and they have an Italian coach 😉

Hey, I'm just spitballin', y'know? Thinking out loud, as defense is my place for work this week. But Cahill's cheaper and seems, based on tonight's lineup, destined for PL games.

But, as you know, I own Verm already.

Baines seems beastly expensive to me, but if you have value 'to burn', he's a punt/differential.

looking at my back line with 1FT and 2.0 in the bank, who would you bring in?

            Kompany Enrique Evans Williamson Caulker

            A) Enr > Baines leaving 0.0

Sorry - 'error establishing database connection' and lost my reply 🙄

Verm. Baines if you have the value to burn and you like the punt/differential. He gives you the 1.0, a transfer saved down the line, and will play in week 34.

I assume you'll start Kompany, Evans, and **** , with Williamson to sub in if Kompany doesn't play?

It's a tough one, he still supplies a lot of the attack but just now with Cisse in, he's the one who gets the goals and points. He could very well get a goal but on recent form doesn't look too likely, hard to count on a penalty taking place though, I don't think one will.

Could be worth playing him as a differential though, got the chance of scoring still of course, with many having already taken him out.

If this news on Adam is true, it will put pressure on Gerrard to stay fit for season because the likes of Henderson just can't fill the void.has now the the over use and over reliance of Gerrard come home to roost, the burnout of a wonderful highly talented footballer-a pity for all to see because of current/previous management decisions to play Steven when he was in no fit shape to play, is liverpools treatment of Gerrard now going to be the final nail in their coffin or will they patch up the scarecrow and send him out to battle once again ?

Adam probably wont play again this season if the news are true. Gerrard has been smoothly brought back in after a really long period of rehab, and he is crucial to this team. Beeing a Liverpool-fan myself i really see us playing Hendo/Gerrard/Spearing as a 3 or just Spearing and Gerrard if Carroll is on. Tbh i really want to see Spearing/Gerrard with Shelvey in front, Downing and Kuyt wide. Sterling looks tempting but we have to be very careful not to break him. Bellers obviously would play if fit, but hes an old man:/

      B. I think you need the offensive points that Walcott may bring you if you are chasing and I don't think you are going to pick those up by just making two defensive swaps. I don't think that the moves are so speculative that you are at risk of dropping points with them.

Have a feeling Spurs are going to win easily in this one. Swans will miss Caulker and Spurs MUST win if they are to challenge us for 3rd. Fancy Parker to have Siggy in his pocket in this one.

I think that's the only potential swap I might do. Think Shotton is just about worth the risk given he's OOP and against wigan, and I have LIV coverage in Skrtel.

    Evening Deadzoners!!!

    My Team

    Mignolet,Sorensen
    Bale,Walcott,Valencia,Siggy, Moses
    RVP, Rooney, Ba

    My story,

Last week did Dempey > Walcott
My initial plan for this week was to go Ba>Pog.....however i am now thinking about another option. Would appreciate your late night/early morning wisdom.

    a) Ba>Pog
    b) Ba & Moses>Dempsey & Crouch for 4 pt hit
    c) Sorensen & Ba > Begovic & Pog 4 pt hit (need to fix my GK sometime)
    d) Sorenen>Begovic

I think D and i really dont think the other options are good at all. Im not feeling the Pog love as i dont rate him, and Fulham havent scored in 3 games. Taking hits to get in keepers or Crouchie or buying back Dempsey the week after you sold him will cost you points and pounds. Stoke on the other hand have very good fixtures next 4 and Begovic now is nailed on again.

Not a fan of taking a hit for a defender. Suarez will do well against a weakened Toon defense. Maybe stick with your original plan of selling Enrique for any of the 3 defender choices you already outlined

    Differentials:

HIM: Aguero, Young, Ferguson, McAuley, Kelly

ME: Ba, Valencia, Siggy, Caulker, Kompany

I have 1FT, looking at possible options:

Yeah i would be very tempted to keep JJose Enrique for the Villa game because they quite frankly are so bad that even Liverpool might get a cleanie against them, you can sell him after that game. Seeing as you have to sell him to get in A-C, i would punt on Ade. I really feel Spurs are bound to get back to scoring ways, and he looked lively against Chelsea.

Agree with both of you. Cahill's phenomenal value whilst he starts. We could have quite a few CS in the upcoming games...

But hey, beware of David Luiz. He has been outstanding in the recent games and RDM would love to find a way to start him ahead of Cahill in the impt games. Good news for Cahill owners is that JT is on the verge of a 2 match suspension.

So DeadZoners, viable captain choices this week:

RVP- was quite unlucky to score vs Villa, did look sluggish at times but im sure he's all rested up and ready to continue his scoring ways vs a very crumbly qpr defence. Prediction: 3-1 Gunners

Rooney- not as electric as his previous performances on monday, but got the job done with the lone goal, despite not picking up any bonus. United seemed very lackluster to say the least, not many shots on target, but hats off to fulham-they defended very well as a unit. Can see a whopping at blackburn to catch citeh on GD. Prediction: 3-1 United

Bale- despite what ppl. say, he is one of few spurs players that have been in form in recent matches. He was very unlucky not to score that header vs chelsea, but played brilliantly none the less. If you guys missed today's matches, bale scored as well as getting MOTM, and had another outstanding performance. With Caulker and Williams out of Swansea's stariting XI this week, we may be in for an exciting match, but then again its swansea. Prediction: 3-0 or 1-0 Spurs

Dempsey- looked like the only fulham player willing to run at united defence, very lively when he gets the ball. He scores in splurges, as we all know. Not relying on this fact but dempsey has scored big every 4 matches, and this weekend home to norwich will be his 4th since his last big haul. Nevertheless, captain at own risk! Prediction: 3-0 Fulham, bouncing back from some tough losses.

Thats my 2 cents for this week's (C) choices, sorry for the long post! Enjoy 🙂

All I have left is a chance to regain some dignity in the Europa league, and I may yet fall short of that aim too...

You've been really really unlucky dude....your GD of -2 is the 2nd best in your group. You have the best FOR score in your grou, over 5 weeks. With a different set of fixtures, you could have been sitting comfortable now. 😕

I have just realised that I have the fifth highest FOR score after 5 weeks... but I actually have the highest AGAINST score of the whole 32 teams for the same period...

Talk about trying harder against the big teams... 😉

Elnino am I eliminated from europa? I'm not highlighted but even if I win and Megatron loses and we end up tied on points he still goes through because he beat me twice

Unfortunately, that would mean an elimination for you then Ryan 🙁
Parmtree had done all the highlighting.

Gutted even if in the best case scenario I would end up bowing out with the best points differential in the group 🙁

Does Jelavic have a nailed on starting place? I mean, am considering himfor the 3rd striker option.

It's hard to tell with Moyes and his forwards... He will often pick and choose his players depending on the opposition. I'm looking to bring in Jelavic too, but i'm not convinced he'll get 90mins every week.

Jelavic for sure but i'm bringing in Baines instead of Skrtel this week and leaving Suarez in for one more game as I believe there's more chance Liverpool will score than keep a clean sheet due to Collocini's injury. I'm going to wait and see how Jelavic does against West Brom first, if he plays 70mins i'm bringing him as he's got a great goal scoring record and Everton's fixtures until the end of the season are mostly great.
