With Everton’s progress to the FA Cup Semi-Finals sealed last night, we’ve seen confirmation of the postponement of the Toffee’s clash with Stoke this morning. Our Season Tickers have been updated accordingly and they now show eight teams without a fixture in Gameweek 34.

With this in mind, we thought we’d briefly summarise the situation with the Gameweek – discussing the possible outcomes, pitfalls and the possible benefits of the fixture pile-up mounting.

Right now we have four games postponed from Gameweek 34:

  • Stoke vs Everton
  • Bolton vs Spurs
  • Chelsea vs Newcastle
  • Liverpool vs Fulham

With the midweek Tuesday/Wednesday slot free on April 17/18, there’s every chance that we’ll see these games shifted to evening kick-offs, thus keeping them within the Gameweek. Certainly that was the precedence set by the postponements caused by the previous round of the FA Cup. There is, however, a slight caveat – it’s possible that the April 17/18 midweek slot would not be seen as viable given that half of the teams will be involved in sapping FA Cup ties at Wembley the weekend prior.

There is also a likely exception. The Chelsea vs Newcastle fixture may be forced into a double Gameweek slot due to Chelsea’s progress in the Champions League. Having grabbed an away goal advantage in Benfica last night, Chelsea look favourites to make it through to the last four. The ties for that round will be played on April 17/18 – ruling out the possibility of the Newcastle league game being shifted to one of those nights.

That would create a double Gameweek, bringing assets such as Hatem Ben Arfa, Papiss Cisse, Juan Mata and Gary Cahill to the fore. With a possible Champions League second leg on April 24/25, it could be that the league fixture would shift to May 2, creating a double in Gameweek 36. Newcastle currently face Wigan in that Gameweek, while Chelsea take on QPR at the Bridge on Sunday.

Right now then, we’re awaiting confirmation from the Premier League on the rescheduling of these matches, with both Chelsea and Newcastle most likely to miss out and hand us a late and potentially profitable double fixture. Fantasy managers are left to progress with caution then – perhaps preparing two strategies for transfers around Gameweek 34, with numerous outcomes still possible.

We’re also still waiting on confirmation of the rescheduled date for Bolton’s meeting with Aston Villa. At some point then – both those teams will deliver a double Gameweek with various midweeks slots available – April 24/25 (Gameweek 35) and May 1/2 (Gameweek 36) are looking the most likely to accommodate this match. There’s also the possibility that the aforementioned Gameweek 34 slot – April 17/18 could be used for this fixture, with the Bolton vs Spurs encounter slipping further.

Confused? Hopefully all will become clear soon enough. We’ll keep you posted.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Still wondering though mate. Thoughts on having both Bale and Rafa?

I already have Bale. I have narrowed my Dempsey replacement options down to 3. Nasri/Rafa or keep Clint.

Clint has Bolton away in GW32, might keep him for that. Gives me the chance to asses and have 2 FTs in 33 to clear out Dempsey and Santon or Yak.

Create a new team and only pick players from the bottom 5 clubs,

so only: Blackburn, Bolton, QPR, Wigan & Wolves

Taking up 9 spots every week from now till gw 36 atleast, there really is place for just 1 defender and 1 big forward/mid
And with a lot of cheap options available(mclean etc) supplementin these guys maybe it's time to splash the cash on some luxury buys to fill those spots.. thinkin verm/baines and aguero/tevez/ade.. dont see the point in bargain forwards/defenders anymore

my point bein.. with the cheapest striker being yak/cisse etc, who you'd rather not bench(discountin graham as the 3rd swans player), and with mclean/miyaichi available at sub 5, maybe it's time for ppl to try and spend cash on that final striker spot and defender spot.. and not go for cahill/cisse etc, rather wait a week or 2 and splash the cash on a huge striker and defender.

I'd tend to disagree with you there. I'm playing on rotating Pog and McClean for the remainder of the season (NOR, TOT, CHE, BOL, WIG, WOL, SUN, MAN). McClean showed at the weekend what he can do, and Pog's goal return, especially at home, has been brilliant so far.

Leaves a lot of funds leftover to give me a kick-ass team!

to each his own.. hence the irrelevancy of this post as i mentioned :).. thanks for replyin though.. i do think a wait and watch approach is better though as aguero/tevez/torres/drogs/ade could explode this week and next and then it'll be difficult to rearrange funds for them

    Yakubu
    Jelavic
or Fletcher as 3rd forward for the rest of the season?

Yakubu has fixtures, and can score against anyone, Everton are terrible and have slightly worse fixtures, Wolves have the worst fixtures but are facing relegation and Fletcher will score for them against most teams.. still a very tough run to stay up.

Any thoughts guys? Trying to dump Graham this week or next, as I feel Siggy is enough coverage and Graham hasn't been doing much for me

Everton / Blackburn fixtures, not a lot of difference as I see it. Everton improving as usual at the end of a season & looking to finish higher than L'pool, Blackburn have a few weeks of making sure they stay up & Yak has been pretty consistent but Jelavic is hitting stride.
So, there you have it . . . no idea!!

I got Vern and Theo in this week, De Gea next, then will do nowt in 32 to have 2 FTs in 33 to srt out him and either Santon/Yak and plan for any DGWs as by then we will know what has become on GW34 fixtures.

Siggy v BAE worries me but I suppose you're hedging your bets there. It's a stunning team tbh, if you can find a way to work Kos to Verm it'd be even better.

was looking at Ramiers myself today

My 2 FTs in 33 could be a tough one, though every chance Yak will stay unless I drop drastically from Clint. I may keep him, if I don't, VdV, Nasri and maybe Ramires are in the frame, Mata is just out of reach, unless I drop Santon to Wilko. But Santon to Ridgewell looks more likely if I have funds (otherwise it will be McAuley)

Tempted to bring Pog for Ba in for a hit replacing Enrique.

    What do you think?

    Vorm
    Kelly S - Skrtel - Enrique - Evans J
    Walcott (c) - Miyaichi - Valencia - Bale
    Rooney - Van Persie (v)

Why all the Papiss love? Newcastle have Liverpool at home and Swansea away in their next 3 (none of which looks high scoring in my opinion), and then they almost definitely have a blank in GW 34, as long as Chelsea go through to the CL semis. Wouldn't it make more sense to get him after that?

agree.. and that too a sideways ba to cisse.. might as well leave ba in till bolton.. ba almost scored cisse's 2 goals at the weekend.. a tumble and an inch was teh difference between a ba 13 pointer and a cisse 2 pointer

Fair enough. I'd rather not have either of them for now, but definitely wouldn't want to waste a transfer on a sideways ba->cisse.

Having said that, I got rid of Cisse for RvP(c) last week. Look where that got me.

ignorin the probable missing gw for adebayor and gettin him for Ba this week.. Swansea at home may not get him many points, but a strugglin sunderland and norwich at home could be beautiful.. other option was mclean to walcott, but i think i'll be better off keepin mclean and doin dempsey to walcott in 2 weeks.. mclean 70 points in 12 games cannot be scoffed at

Likewise. Big decision now -- to risk Fabregas as a sub or to keep a two-point player in his place. Any views? I'm inclined to risk it in the hopes the he scores in 30 mins against Milan's depleted defence.
