There’s nothing like a double gameweek to whet the appetite. This morning has brought confirmation of FOUR as the Premier League begins to whip the fixture list back into shape.

Liverpool were first to alert us. The Anfield club have this morning confirmed their home fixture with Fulham, originally due to take place in Gameweek 34, will now occur on May 1, affording both clubs a double gameweek 36 and, subsequently, a blank Gameweek 34.

It’s something of a surprise, with many expecting the fixture to simply be moved into the midweek slot for Gameweek 34 but, nevertheless, it now adds an intriguing twist to the end of the season and give Fantasy managers plenty to mull over.

Liverpool will now face (nor, FUL), while Martin Jol’s side have (eve, liv) on the agenda. While many will look to grab Anfield assets, with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez both producing the goods in the Reds’ previous double gameweek, Fulham’s prospects look comparatively bleak.

With just eight goals on the road this season, the Cottagers travel to two of the four tightest defences in the Premier League – hardly the most enticing of schedules for us to take advantage of. It leaves owners of Clint Dempsey in something of a quandary, then – Fulham have (CHE, blank, WIG, eve & liv) between Gameweeks 33-36. The home clash with Wigan in Gameweek 35 stands out but, with a derby against Chelsea and blank gameweek prior to the Latics clash, then the trips to Everton and Liverpool, there are plenty tactical decisions to be made as we plot to get the most out of our squads over the final hectic month.

Aston Villa were next to issue an update. The club’s official website have announced their game at home to Bolton, originally scheduled for Gameweek 32 but cancelled due to Fabrice Muamba’s collapse at Tottenham in the FA Cup, will now take place on Tuesday April 24, giving both clubs a double Gameweek 35.

Alex McLeish’s side now have back-to-back home matches (SUN, BOL) on their agenda, while the Trotters can look forward to (SWA, avl) in their bid to beat the drop. Right now, Bolton have a blank gameweek preceding this, with their home match against Spurs yet to be rescheduled, while Villa travel to Old Trafford prior to their couple of home fixtures.

Bolton have now confirmed their home match with Tottenham will be scheduled for Wednesday May 2, meaning both sides have a double Gameweek 36. Incredibly, this gives Owen Coyle’s side back-to-back double Gameweeks, with (sun, TOT) this time round, while Spurs face (BLA, bol), with plenty investment sure to come the London outfit’s way.

The likes of Ryo Miyaichi will surely see investment for the Trotters, while Gareth Bale, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Emmanuel Adebayor will be drafted in by many a Fantasy manager with such favourable fixtures for Harry Redknapp’s side.

Chelsea have also got in on the act. The Stamford Bridge outfit have rescheduled their home clash with Newcastle for Wednesday May 2,affording both clubs a double gameweek 36. With two home clashes, Chelsea (QPR, NEW) look primed for investment, with Juan Mata likely to lead the charge, while the Magpies have (wig, che) to consider, for the likes of Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba.

There is now one outstanding fixture as, of yet, unscheduled from Gameweek 34, then. As we explained in yesterday’s article, the remaining game is:

  • Stoke vs Everton

We’ll bring you more as we get it.

    Ok, need some help..

    Here's my team:

    Schwarzer-Mignolet
    Caulker-Evans-BAE-Vermaelen-McAuley
    Dempsey-Walcott-Valencia-Siggy-Surman
    Rooney-RVP-Cisse

    3.7M in bank
    Preparing to GW 36:

Have taken a look at which players who I need to have shipped out when GW 36 finally is here.

    Vermaelen
    Schwarzer
    McAuley
    Dempsey(possibly)
    Walcott
    Surman

Have I got em right? 🙂

Why would you get rid of Verm and Walcott? It can be justified if Arsenal drops in form before then, but certainly not at the moment. Of course, it depends who you would replace them with.

I've just drafted a plan from GWs 33-36.

The problem, is that you need to start cramming in double gameweek players AFTER GW34 or lose out that week. With my current plan, bar injuries, I'll get a fully playing side for GW34, and have 8 doubles GW36 with no more than a 4 point hit.

I think the key here, is to replace some of your non-playing forward players in GW34 (Gerrard, Mata, Suarez, Adebayor) with City in GW33. They have WBA and we'll have two weeks from now to work out who's the best target (Aguero/Balo/Tevez/Silva/Toure).

Then, GW35 or 36 ship the City player back to the player you originally had for the double.

4 players with DGW36 as subs in GW34 and 0 transfers that week, then 2 free transfers prior to GW35 and 2 transfers (1 hit) prior to GW36.

But Camzy is saying get rid of your DGW player prior to GW 34 and then bring them back. For example:

          GW33 - Suarez > Aguero
          GW36 - Aguero > Suarez

          That is already two transfers.

Well, I don't completely get what she's trying to do with that City transfers, but I guess she's having 4 non-goalkeeper DGW players in GW33 which means she has to get rid of one of them to field 11 in GW34 (she is doing it in GW33). Then she saves a transfer in GW34. And then to get 8 players with DGW in GW36 she needs just 4 transfers and 3 free transfers, assuming that her second goalkeeper has a blank in GW34 and a DGW in GW36.
So, these two transfers are in line with this plan.

In addition to my 'Expensive Defenders' post on page 1, when the blank plague of GW34 arrives it is going to be useful having a starting XI.

In my opinion, the GW34 blanks promote the current stock of Vermaelen(WIG), Evra(AVL) and Kompany(nor) even further.

Conversely the pull of Baines, BAE, Cahill etc has significantly lessened.

    No need to panic, guys

RVP(c) in GW34 will give us all a decent score, whether you have 5 or 11 starters!

Are people still keeping focus on GW32 and 33 or do they take care of themselves with your current squads?

Starting to question my planned transfer of Enrique > Kaboul and currently leaning towards saving it so that I can field 11 players in GW34 (or get an additional transfer in one of the DGWs)

Yeah Kaboul might not be the best move right now when you could put it to better use.

    So heres the plan:
    GW31 - Raylor > Kompany -4
    GW32 - Save
    GW33 - Dyer > Sess
    GW34 - Dempsey > Sinclair
    GW35 - Sinclair > Bale

Gives me two FT's for GW36, and a full 11 for GW34. Boom.

Nice strategy. The 2FT's will be ideal for GW36. And Xl for GW34 is better than alot of teams will have.

Yeah the 2 FT's for GW36 will be key. You could avoid taking more than a 4 point hit then.

It will be dangerous for you to go without Bale until GW35...imo

      SWA, sun, NOR, blank

I'm getting him back in my team this week (for Mata)

I know. Painfully i'm 0.1 short of doing Dyer > Bale. i don't see what I could do apart from sell Dempsey or Walcott.

I stil have no idea what i'm going to do for GW36. Chelsea players could be a nightmare with Champions league and fa cup games around the Premier League fixtures.

Think you need a free transfer in there somewhere to sort out injuries. You'll be lucky to get through 4 weeks without them.

I'm guessing everyone is keeping Rooney and RVP till gw36 where they will be getting rid of one of them. RVP arguably has the easier fixtures but I will be keeping Rooney (assuming the title is still up for grabs) as Arsenal might rest RVP if Champions League football is secured.

I'm thinking of finally ditching Silva this week to free up some cash to up grade Pogrbanyk, although I am very concerned about not having any Man city coverage.
Should I bring Yaya in as he seems to be in the best form out of the Man city players and probably has the least chance of rotation?

Don't be concerned! I haven't either and it's working out well for me thus far.

I think I would only invest in Kompant myself!

    If I am to downgrade Dempsey after the Bolton game in GW32 do I bring in;

    a) McClean - eve, WOL, avl

    b) Sess - eve, WOL, avl

    c) Song - wol, WIG, che

    d) Sinclair - qpr, BLA, bol

    * All play in GW34
