It’s a crunch period. Managers, Premier League and Fantasy alike, now look keenly to those above and below them, hunting for opportunities to eek an advantage. Out on the pitch, flair can be overshadowed by endurance, skill oft succumbs to dogged determination and those scarred by previous relegation or European battles tend to shine. As Fulham drift, Everton rise and Spurs cling, we take a look at how Paddy Power have priced up some Fantasy veterans in another round of crucial clashes…

Clint Dempsey’s two-point return at Old Trafford last Monday certainly didn’t reflect the shift that he and his Fulham team-mates produced in the second half. A story perhaps too common in the last few fixtures for Martin Jol’s men. However, with Norwich’s recent away form showing a couple 1-0 defeats, a Clint Dempsey goal and a cleansheet at 5/1 has some value. And thus we break open our Flutter wallet and stake our first fiver.

March has been a busy month for the Toffees. A protracted and gritty FA Cup tie against Sunderland made up an unpalatable cocktail with stinging league fixtures against Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool. And yet, against the odds, Everton have gone up a gear. Leighton Baines, oddly Everton’s top goalscorer, has provided both determined quality at the back and an energy and flair going forward that betrays the fact he’s racked up only two assists this season. Perhaps with this in mind, Paddy price Baines at 12/1 for an assist with an Everton clean sheet against West Brom. With Everton’s form and Baines in bloom – we’ll take this one on for a cheeky quid.

Gareth Bale has remained Tottenham’s star performer through a stiff patch of fixtures and results. While his recent contribution consists of just a couple of assists, Bale has threatened enough to suggest he’ll fetch richer returns very soon. A Bale goal and a Spurs cleansheet at 7/2 is quite short considering Swansea’s away successes against Fulham and Wigan. If Luka Modric and Scott Parker can break down the Swans’ fluid passing, Bale will get a chance to stretch his legs against the visitor’s back four and our final few quid will be money well spent.

Money Back Specials

The Sports Direct Arena provides the venue for Paddy’s first refund special. If Liverpool lead at anytime in Sunday’s match against Newcastle, but fail to win, Paddy will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match up to a value of £100 per customer.

Monday night’s Ewood Park mission for Man United provides Paddy’s other money back offer. If Wayne Rooney scores the last goal in the clash with Blackburn, Paddy Power will refund all losing first /last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match up to a value of £100 per customer.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

I posted something along these lines last night, may help (or not) in the Rooney v RVP debate...

1 united have scored more away goals this season than Arsenal

    2. Blackburn have conceded more home goals this season than QPR

    3. Rvp hasn't scored I n last 3 games, Rooney....

if I didn't get vermaleen this week, I should then wait till gw33 right. But then after two gws I will again have to shift him out in prep for gw35/36. Making this a pointless transfer?

I don't Reina in front of my goal. Was thinking of doing Suarez->Jelavic and Reina->Hart this week for a 4 pt hit. Makes my team very solid for the critical h2h this week and adds 1 dgw player for gw36 (who has good fixtures) and 1 player for gw34.

(btw I have never seen jelavic play, so is he actually good?)

I'm mainly captaining Rooney because in my money league I am coming 2nd for the month and the guy who's top hasn't changed his team since about gameweek 8, so I know he is going to have Rooney captain and he has a lot of out of form and injured players so I am going to captain Rooney so then the captain will be equal and I should beat him with my other players 😀

Nice. Barring injuries I'm going for 10 in GW34 and 8 DGWer's. If I went for 11 in GW34 one of them would be Surman (against City...) so I'd rather just play with 10 and save a DGWer.

    A) Suarez->Jelavic
    or
    B) Suarez->Graham

A few thing to consider for me
    a) extremely critical h2h this week
    b) by gw34 if i get graham I will have 3 swansea players and around 9/10 players
    c) by gw36 if i get jelavic he will be my only everton player, great fixtures and most likely dgw in 36 with blank in 34 so leading me to field 8/9 players that week.

        RVP Rooney

    My wildcard team:
    Begovic bogdan
    evans kelly caulker cahill mcauly
    bale valencia siggy mclean nasri
    rvp rooney suarez

Thinking of doing begovic + kelly >>> mignolet and turner so i have 11 players for gw34 and then end up with 7 players for gw36.

    THOUGHTS?

Basically, everyone's gone loopy. You'll see two common symptoms:

Diagnosis 1. They will have sold Silva.

Diagnosis 2. Endless bantering over forthcoming dgws.

      The end is nigh 🙁

Selling Silva has raised necessary funds in the team. I think he is one the best players in the premier league and it's usually a joy to watch him play. But sometimes when it comes to fpl, you have to let form and stats guide you irrespective of whatever your instinct might say.

But if you still have Silva you should keep at least till gw34.

Do the opposite to everyone else. That's what smart investors do: buy when others are selling; sell when others are buying.

Keep Silva as he will come good again. The recent Scout's article confirmed this. Those that are weak will then suffer.

DGW's aren't worth bothering with when all those that have them have a blank in GW34. Just get DGW players after GW34 and you'll be fine.

gw 34(8 players) + gw 36(9 dgw players) is much better than gw 34 (11 players) + gw 36 (6 dgw players). Isn't that much better?

I just can't see Pool keeping a cleanie, so if I were playing Enrique it'd be for attacking points, and not sure I can see that either.

But I have been making the wrong call on everything recently, so my advice is best regarded with scepticism.

Yeah, that's good advice. Haven't sorted my subs out yet, but it's tempting to try to fit Pog into the first XI, though the most obvious one to drop for him would seem to be Siggy... and last time I benched him, it didn't exactly work out well... 😉

Think Miyachi should probably start above Moses...tricky. Anyone know probability of Moses playing? The two of them are both in form, but Moses is at home which edges it for me if he is going to start...

I'd go Kelly and probably Mignolet for the save points; the choice of keepers you have is nearly as tricky as mine (Vorm and Mignolet) but I have to admit, I'm benching Mingnolet so make of that what you will...!

    Repost:

    Hi guys, NEED HELP!!!!!

    My wildcard team:
    Begovic bogdan
    evans kelly caulker cahill mcauly
    bale valencia siggy mclean nasri
    rvp rooney suarez

Thinking of doing begovic + kelly >>> mignolet and turner so i have 11 players for gw34 and then end up with 7 players for gw36.

I am taking a punt on nasri over walcott....

    THOUGHTS??

    Slightly odd request ….
I’m off to Wembley to help with a science exhibition next month, but although I’ll be working I should get a chance to have a guided tour. I’ll be staying overnight, so my non-footy question is: does anyone know any really good restaurants in that part of London?
Thanks in anticipation of your help.

If you really don't want to go into town (which I personally would do) the best up in that neck of the woods would be Incanto: http://www.squaremeal.co.uk/restaurants/london/view/101006/Incanto which is in Harrow.

Thanks KLM - much appreciated. It's always worth doing a bit of homework where food is concerned!
