Papiss Cisse maintains his recent scoring streak to see off Liverpool with a double. Hatem Ben Arfa dazzles on the flank once again for the Magpies. Emmanuel Adebayor bags a brace against Swansea, Rafael Van der Vaart gets amongst the Fantasy points, while Gylfi Sigurdsson produces the goods on his travels once again.

Papiss Cisse
There’s just no stopping the January signing, as a double at the Sports Direct Arena downed a dire Liverpool. Cisse has now notched back-to-back braces, taking his goal tally to seven in seven starts for the Magpies, with his role as the central forward in Alan Pardew’s recent shift to a 4-3-3 proving hugely successful. The Senegal striker rose from 6.7 to 7.0 last week but, with Swansea and Bolton to follow and with a double Gameweek 36 on the horizon, plenty more investment will come his way as Cisse stakes a firm claim for the third striker spots in Fantasy line-ups over the last two months of the season.

Hatem Ben Arfa
His flourishing form on the right of Pardew’s front three continued yesterday, as the 5.6 priced midfielder picked up an assist for the opener against Liverpool. A lack of consistent starts have deterred Fantasy suitors – only 3% of managers currently own the Frenchman – but with attacking returns in three of those four starts, it’s becoming apparent that Ben Arfa cannot be overlooked as a mid-price midfield alternative going forward. Pardew finally seems to have forged a system to get the best out of Ben Arfa and Newcastle are clearly reaping the benefits, with the Frenchman having a hand in five of their last seven goals; his manager was even impressed enough to make post-match comparisons with Lionel Messi.

Demba Ba
As Ben Arfa and Cisse soar in our estimations, Ba continues to plummet. Perhaps, as part of a front two, his Fantasy owners would feel a little more confident but the recent move wide left in Pardew’s 4-3-3 is looking like the final straw for many. An assist for Cisse’s second was Ba’s first attacking return for seven Gameweeks and, despite his spot-kick duties, it’s obvious his potential has been markedly diminished since his compatriot’s arrival. With Cisse offering a cheaper route into the Newcastle attack and the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor also offering strong form and fixtures, the transfers out are set to pick up speed.

Emmanuel Adebayor
A double against Swansea saw the on-loan forward move to third in the forward rankings, behind Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney on 157 points. There’s no doubt Adebayor can be an inconsistent performer – he had scored or assisted in just two of the previous thirteen Gameweeks – but, as the number one forward in Harry Redknapp’s attacking unit, the potential is always there for explosive returns – yesterday was the fifth time he’s produced double figures this season. With the likes of Norwich and QPR to come in the next four and a (BLA, bol) double gameweek, Redknapp’s side look set for plenty investment over the next few Gameweeks.

Rafael Van der Vaart
A change of formation from Harry Redknapp saw the Dutchman on the right in a 4-2-3-1, with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale completing the attacking midfield trio behind Adebayor. Van der Vaart provided a goal and assist in the 3-1 win, picking up his first double figure points haul since Gameweek 19, and, having recovered from a calf problem over the last few weeks, has now notched in back-to-back home matches. Bale, on the other hand, has failed to find the net in his last seven appearances, though an assist from the Welshman helped boost his Fantasy owners’ points hauls. With both Louis Saha and Jermain Defoe remaining unused subs yesterday, it appears Redknapp is opting for more midfield guile to boost his side’s chance of a third place finish – at just 5% ownership, Van der Vaart may well prove to be a decent differential if he maintains his recent form.

Gylfi Sigurdsson
The Icelandic international maintained his stand-out away form, bagging Swansea’s only goal at the Lane. Sigurdsson has now notched six goals in as many appearances on the road, with just a couple of assists in five games at the Liberty Stadium, in comparison. Eleven games into his loan spell for Brendan Rodgers’ side, Sigurdsson continues to lead the way for points per game amongst midfielders – an average of 6.5 leaves Gareth Bale’s 5.8 back in second and further underlines the Swansea man’s potential ahead of a run of games that sees him face four of the bottom five in the next five Gameweeks.

    REPOST FROM YESTERDAY

    something interesting for the DGW.

Ade,Bale,VDV the way to go for in the DGW instead of 1 defender, VDV/BALE,Ade?

Thinking that Spurs are much more likely to have a goalfest against Blackburn and Bolton than a CS fest.

Blackburn always score and Bolton should score too at home….

Last 4 matches against Blackburn and Bolton the scores have been in total these:

    Aganist Blackburn: Spurs 10 – Blackburn 4

    Against Bolton: Spurs 10 – Bolton 6

Who is likely to score more points out of Adebayor home to Norwich and Papiss Cisse home to Bolton?

Both seem like easy game to me. Papiss is in great form and looks very likely to score a goal or two. Adebayor has done well this season but it’s hard to predict when he’ll score, but at least he’s the penalty taker and Cisse is not.

A:Begovic, rotates decent with my other keeper Mignolet and have a awesome fixture this week. Saving some funds too.

B:Howard, Everton have good form and Howard rotates well with Mignolet.

Depending on how things go I might be tempted to do Piggery > Ade in GW35. Having said that though, I barely know what I'm going to do next week, nevermind the end of next month.

While we're on the subject of the unforeseen, what's the received wisdom on rotation over the Easter weekend? Some big games at both ends of the table in just three days there - any chance of an afternoon off for the likes of Rooney, RVP, Bale etc, do we think?

My balls were raisin-sized this week and I played it very conservatively. Talked myself out of captaining Dempsey/Rooney and played it safe 'just in case' RVP went mad. Also decided against a 4 point hit to replace Suarez with Cisse... Ah, another week in the life of a FF manager!

    I love this game.

For all the frustration, irritation and annoyance it distributes on a weekly basis, it really is a thing of beauty.

Since my real football team is teetering on the brink of existence (again), my FPL team gives me something else to focus on.

The joy of a changed assist or dubious bonus point is quite remarkable.

Bless you FPL, you beautiful and terrible motherflipper.

Team as it currently stands for next week:

    Krul
    McAuley Evans Caulker*
    Walcott Siggy Valencia Bale
    Suarez RVP Rooney

    Mig Dempsey Kaboul Simpson

*Planning Kelly > Caulker this week, or should I ship Suarez for someone and play Kaboul instead?

Do I play Dempsey instead of Walcott/Suarez?

I'm confused...any help would be highly appreciated!!!

    RVP Ade Rooney (C)

    Mignolet, Caulker, Mcclean, Simpson

so whats everyone doing about the missing fixtures? field less than 11 to field a higher double percentage or field 11 and have fewer doublers?

      verm, evans
      walcott, siggy, sess, valencia
      rvp, rooney, yak

Field 11 and have fewer doublers - there's only a few teams in the DGW that have truly decent fixtures anyway.

I think it comes down to what people are capable of. At this stage I can't have 11 players for GW34 without taking a hit. This being the case I guess I will have more DGW players. I might make up for this by taking a punt on Rooney captain GW34 as everyone will captain RVP against Wigan

As I have been burned countless times for fielding 4 defenders I vow to never start 4 defenders again unless I am forced to.

thats only because there are far more better mids and strikers to replace your 4th defender. its easier to get an assist/goals then to hope for a CS..

Its amazing how simple logic like this can be overlooked when an attacking player has a hard fixture and a defender has an easy fixture.

I got complacent when I played Vermaelen over Ba when they played each other (and Verm scored) and went with peoples advice along side my own gut feeling and played Richards over Sigurdsson.
Could have been worse, Siggy almost scored twice 😕

Yeah I would have done the same thing. Its terrible really but we should stick to the 3-4-3 strategy over whoever the players are

Anyone else getting rid of demps?

I've got to get eleven for gw34 but no idea who to bring in. The obvious siggy, sess or walcott are possible but rather puts all my eggs in one basket.

    Anyo

potentially a lot as you can make sure you have a full team for gw 34 and then can load up on dgwers with your wc

Which transfer option is more urgent?

    1) Suarez>Papiss
    2) Reina>Mignolet
    3) Neither and carry the ft in to gw33

I've got Krul to cover my keeper options this week, and while I know that Villa at home offers good points prospects for Suarez I am consious that Papiss' value is going to sky rocket. I had planned to carry my ft in to gw33, but player values are making to think I need to act now.

    So, which option is best?

Yes... but am looking at holding for just one more week, then making a double FT. Whilst it's away, a Bolton game is not to be sniffed at.
