An inspired display from Antonio Valencia helps stretch United’s lead at the top over City. Ashley Young also gets amongst the goals as the champions leave it late at Blackburn, while Wayne Rooney draws a blank for the second time in three Gameweeks.

Antonio Valencia
A goal and assist from the Ecuadorian continued an outstanding run of form that has firmly established him as United’s prime midfield Fantasy asset. Since cementing a role on the right flank back in Gameweek 14, Valencia has produced attacking returns in nine of his fourteen appearances, with five double figure points hauls indicative of his explosive performances. Having missed three games with a hamstring strain, his price dropped as low as 7.5 as recent as Gameweek 29 but Valencia has already risen 0.6 since, with his paltry 10% ownership continuing to rapidly climb. He’s now level with Gareth Bale in terms of point per game, with an average of 5.8, and with (QPR, wig, AVL, EVE) up next, the points look set to keep flowing.

Ashley Young and Wayne Rooney
With Nani still sidelined, Young looked to be the main contender for the left wing position but yesterday’s team sheet caused consternation, with Rooney moved to the flank as Young sat on the bench. Although Rooney was switched centrally later on, his Fantasy managers will be far from enamoured with last night’s turn of events ahead of United’s upcoming run. The same applies to Young; although the former Villa man sealed the victory with a late second, he was afforded just 12 minutes by Sir Alex Ferguson at Ewood Park last night and, with the likes of Danny Welbeck also filling in on the flanks in recent weeks, it appears his game time is far from guaranteed.

Jonny Evans
Still with under 12% Fantasy ownership, the centre-half continued his superb recent run of returns with a fourth consecutive clean sheet at Ewood Park. With a goal, assist and four bonus points also accrued over those matches, Evans has returned 37 points since the start of Gameweek 28; Rooney, in comparison, has picked up 26 points. Evans is now up to 5.2, and with almost 100,000 bringing him in over the last fortnight, a hike in price is again on the cards as more arrive late to the party.

Rafael
Finally free from injury, the Brazilian maintained his recent starting berth against Blackburn. Despite the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling both offering alternatives for the right-back role, Rafael has now started the last three for United and seems to be cementing his place as first-choice under Ferguson. An assist for Valencia’s opener last night means he has now picked up attacking returns or bonus in each of those three appearances – with three clean sheets also thrown in, an average of 9 points per game and ownership of less than 1% could be tempting for those Fantasy managers who have yet to invest in Evans.

What are people's thoughts on Dempsey? Keep or sell?

Already have Schwarzer as Fulham coverage for the DGW (both of which are away games)

Alternatively, could sell him for Walcott. Do people fancy his/Arsenal's chances against City? Also Arsenal have a game in GW 34.

Actually confused me a little! But my plans are similar in terms of team coverage - currently have Bale Dempsey Valencia McClean Sigurdsson.

Also considering Ryo for the DDGW so might bring him in for McClean in GW 35.

But would you back Walcott to do well against City?

I was thinking along the lines of City being desperate and going FTW which may expose them defensively...and Walcott loves to pounce on an exposed defence 😛

There's only 1 fixture between now and the end of the season that I would fancy him for.

sorry for asking again but want to see some more opinions and perhaps get a discussion going here, who do you think is the better captain this next week, rooney or valencia?

Hey TW that's a tough one. If Rooney plays deep then it has to be Valencia but we have no way of knowing that before the game. Now having Valencia as captain could really work wonders because he is the one giving assists at the moment and could potentiolly even score a goal or 2.

Now if you in a position like me where the person your chasing does not have Rooney then it would be wise to captain rooney because he is a striker afterall and it's a home game.

my main minileague is a h2h one and my next opponent hasn't been on in a while so his only united coverage is nani.

the other minileague i kind of care about he has all 3 same united players as i do.

and my main goal is also to try to climb in the rankings so not focused on an overall points league really....

it just worries me as i see rooney higher risk higher reward... i think valencia is more likely to return 5-10pts whereas rooney is more likely to either return 2 or 10+

Valencia for me, he's been Utd's best player in recent weeks, extremely direct and effective, his decision making has improved immensely (compared to Nani who for most of the season has looked hopeless).

Thought Rooney played sh*t by his standards yesterday and he drops wayyy too deep.

Hmmm I have Vorm, Krul, Senderos, Simpson and Siggy. Swansea vs Newcastle.

Transfer planned is Senderos -> Caulker.

Thinking of playing the Swansea lads and benching the Newcastle lot. Does this seem sensible given that they're home, and I'm playing Siggy? Would leave Simpson, Taiwo and McClean on my bench, none of which I fancy.

This is my other option. Swansea did let us all down at home to Everton. I do have a third option of getting someone else in for Caulker, it really doesn't seem wise to double up on Swansea and Newcastle defenders, but Swansea do have great fixtures and Caulker/Kelly are my only two options.

Team and transfer plan. Tell me what you think..

    Vorm, Schwarzer
    Evans, Verm, Kompany, Simpson, Kelly
    Bale, Gylfi, Valencia, Dempsey, McClean
    Rooney, Rvp, Suarez

    32: No transfer
    33. Schwarzer -> Given who I bench until Gw35
    34: Kelly & Suarez -> Bendtner & Bardsley / Richards
    35: McClean -> Miyachi
    36: Wildcard

Gives me a GW34 team of
    Vorm
    Vermaelen, Evans, Kompany, Bardsley/Richards
    Gylfi, McClean, Valencia
    Rooney, Rvp, Bendtner

Take a serious look at Martin petrov too. For what it's worth i don't think Miyaichi will start all 4 games in the 2 DGW's anyway and Petrov may not either. Petrov is on pens too and is playing well again though.

The strategy I would use is to get 11 players for GW34 without taking a hit. Use the wildcard in GW36 and get 9-11 DGW players which should boost you up the rankings and win your mini leagues. Leave in players such as RVP, Rooney and Evans.

Paul Lambert marked Zinedine Zidane out of the game as Dortmund clinched their first Champions league title ever in the 96/97 season.

    Did not know that!

Im looking at Bendtner/Caulker or Graham/Turner for the next few weeks, both two until after the double GW. 1 or 2? Already have Vorm/Siggy/Sessegnon in my team.

Do you not think until after the double 5 players from Swansea/Sunderland is a bit much?

Well maybe, but im chasing a lead and Swansea have QPR, Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn in 4 straight games, while Sunderland have Wolves, Villa and Bolton in 3 of the last 4. The other thing i can do is just get in Graham, play 10 men GW 34 and have one more saved transfer for the double gw 36? But i think personally its better to have 11 players in gw 34 and do another hit, depending on what players i decide to get in?

    Mignolet
    Verm / Evans / Caulker / Turner
    Walcott / Valencia / Sess / Siggy
    Rooney

10 players for GW34. Does this seem good enough without bringing in an 11th?

No RVP at home to Wigan. That's probably gonna hurt.

    Kelly Enrique Dempsey Suarez

£2.7m in le banque. Any suggestions?

      Hmmm tough,

I'd probably want rid of Demps and Enrique.

Kelly I'd definitely keep as he's only cheap and can be bench fodder anyway.

I wold have said Kelly but EpicFail is right. At such a low price and a DGW coming up if you need him you can put the FT's to better use.

      Enrique definitely out.

As a Dempsey owner I would rather keep him than Suarez. 20 woodwork hits and 5 dives to every goal. I think you can do a lot better for your 3rd striker.

Dump Liverpool, gives you more cash to invest and they`re just not performing at all.

I wouldnt want to do either of those. Dont see Ade doing alot away against Sunderland. He was totally absent until the last 10 minutes against Swansea and scored twice from nothing. Save the transfer if you can.

I could save the transfer I suppose, have enough players at home and then bring in Walcott for GW 34. Was just contemplating his prospects against a desperate City at home.

Are you not worried about the gw34 blank you'll have!

Why not keep Ba till then and transfer Ade in for gw35 onwards?

Yes but had one eye on Ade's price rise. Will want him for the DGW though. Walcott for this week then? Or save transfer?

Not had a decent chance to really look at plans for the coming game weeks. So anyone care to give my squad a quick once over suggest improvements on the outlined possible way forward:

    Krul - Mignolet
Evans - BAE- Caulker - Cahill - Kelly
    Valencia - Bale - Walcott - Yaya - McClean
    RVP - Rooney - Cisse

    GW 32 (1 x FT) - Nothing
    GW 33 (2 x FT) - Kelly to Turner
    GW 34 (2 x FT) - Nothing
GW 35 (2 x FT) - Mignolet to Bogdan or McClean to Miyachi
GW 36 (2 x FT) - Rooney to Adebayor & Cahill to Baines
    GW 37 (1 x FT) - Adebayor to Rooney
    GW 38 (1 x FT) - Miyachi to Moses

    Rank: 70K,
    Value: 110m

    Thanks in advance.....

Having been away quite a bit I've not been on the site a lot over the last few weeks and my ranking has PLUMMETED. now outside the top 100k, folks on here would have convinced me to sell Silva Walters & Ba by now but I have stood idley by in the semi-assured knowledge that they would "come good".

Just goes to show how useful this site can be.

Have been caught in my ML too so can anyone help me.

I had just enough to do Walters > Sess this week and still have 1 FT remaining, team as it stands:

    Schwarzer Mignolet
    Kompany Enrique SKelly Simpson NTaylor
    Sess Bale Silva Siggy Surman
    RVP Rooney Ba

    0.2 in bank.

Players I am looking to bring in over the next few weeks as follows:

Given / Friedel for Schwarzer (Villa have 2 home fixtures in their DGW 35)
Kaboul / Cahill / Collins for Kompany (purely for the double)
Evans for Kompany (meaning I don't bother with the above)
    Ade for Ba
    Valencia for Silva
    Miyaichi for Surman

    Does all this sound reasonable?

Will phase them all in over the next 4-5 GW's, even tempted to draft Bendtner in for a 1 week punt in GW34 as they have Wolves at home.
