Having failed to notch away from Craven Cottage this calendar year, many a Fantasy managers’ plans for the upcoming double Gameweek 36 had centred around getting rid of Clint Dempsey. This afternoon at the Reebok, the American give us plenty to ponder as a brace ended Bolton’s recent winning run and sent the US international to second behind Robin Van Persie in the overall points rankings.

Prior to today’s display, Dempsey’s notoriously poor away form had produced just three goals, compared to 10 goals and six assists in front of his own fans. With a blank Gameweek 34 on the horizon and trips to Liverpool and Everton in Gameweek 36, the decision to transfer him out made plenty sense; Fulham had scored just eight on the road all season before today, after all. Now, however, many have a dilemma.

Given his current form, those still holding Dempsey will surely look upon Monday evening’s upcoming home clash against Chelsea as another potentially strong opportunity of points. The visit of Wigan in Gameweek 35 affords him the chance of a substantial home haul, with the option of the captain’s armband a definite possibility.

While Gareth Bale and David Silva (without a goal since Gameweek 24 and Gameweek 16 respectively) stumble towards the finish line, Dempsey – handed a role up front in light of Pavel Pogrebnyak’s absence – simply shows no sign of letting up as he forges further ahead of his fellow-midfielders in the Fantasy running.

Transfer plans may now be postponed or ripped up altogether as we look for ways to hold onto the American. That straight swap for Theo Walcott before Arsenal’s trip to Wolves on Wednesday that many had in mind, or the move to Stephane Sessegnon for Sunderland’s home game with the midlanders in Gameweek 34 may never see the light of day now. With form the clear winner over fixtures as the season heats up, can we really afford to run the risk of moving out such a potent source of points?

Anybody care to take a look at my team. Not sure how to proceed and have 2 frees with some dosh in the bank. Silva a tradeable commodity as dgw approaches also. Am thinking Enrique out, Verm in and also considering Caulker in(but for whom) Instead of a Caulker trade should I ship one of my mids?

Silva out was my first thought, but looking a bit more you might want to consider players who are going to play in week 34.

Verm, Caulker and maybe McAuley are good shouts

You are currently 1-2-2-2, need to address that 1st imo. Enrique is becoming a no brainer. Outside that Silva to Walcott.

Hi Guys. Im involved in a head to head league and its very important I win in gw33 as I wont win this week. What do ye think of my team for gw33?:

    Schwarzer

    Enrique Evans Kaboul (Caulker Bardsley)

    Bale Walcott Siggy Valencia (Sess)

    Cisse(c) RVP Rooney

Would ye make any transfers? Any transfer would be for a hit and have 3m in the bank.

I shipped today, but only to get Dave in. My other option was Theo, but if I am bringing in 1 player who has no fixture in 34, be madness to fund it by taking another 1 out.

Exactly 2 very tough away fixtures for C America in gw 36 while Petrov has 4 games in those 2 gameweeks.

        No trolling intended 🙂

TBH every fixture is tough for Bolton, they are Bolton. They lost 3-0 at home today to the side with the worst away record in the league. Clint always looks dangerous. Plus look at his fixture in 35, he will outscore any Bolton or Villa mid. Worst case scenario is he gets 4 in 36, but with Spurs and Sunderland in 36, I can't see a Bolton mid doing any better. On that basis get the guy who is the no 1 choice for captain in 35.

Current doublers readying themselves for my bench in GW34:

Krul, Kelly, Enrique, Bale, Dempsey, Suarez

I figure I have to keep Krul, Bale and Dempsey which means 2 of Kelly, Enrique and Suarez have to go. I have 2 FTs this week so I can get rid of 2 (or all 3) of them before GW34. So how about...

    Suarez > Cisse
    Enrique > Verm
    followed by
    Kelly > Gibbs in GW34.

      sounds good
but if you manage somehow to get rid of just 2 of them and not to make a third transfer then you'll have one more free transfer after GW34 when the time to load up with DGW will come and it will effectively mean one less point hit or 4 points
however this would mean no Suarez - Cisse transfer as the latter one has a blank in GW34

🙁 Yep, Cisse wasn't part of the original plans!

Cisse has wrecked everyone's plans IT.

But he's worth it. Even if he delivers a 2 pointer v BOL. Some say "he can't keep scoring" but you can't afford to risk finding out. RVP is the prime example.

    re our last discussion

I have 3 Sunderland so Turner is out (I got Sess in this week)

That’s why I’m thinking either Kompany (nor, wol), or a WBA defender (QPR, avl) or double on Swans with Williams.

        cash is no issue.

After that move I will have 1 million left. Clint will not be more than 10.2 by the time DGW rolls around. My Evans to Baines transfer can be financed by Rooney to Ade, with around 0.7 to spare after Clint's inevitable price rise this week.

Right. Following this days tragic events - for me, anyway - I deem Dempsey's form too hot to drop. Therefore, Bale will have to go. I still have Adebayor and Assou-Ekotto.

could you not sell Sing and get Walcott Doos.

Bale will come good again IMO, I sold Clint yesterday to fund a move for Dave. (But I will still get 11 out in 34), It will cost me 0.2 to 0.4 to get him back at most, I can cover than and more by Rooney to Ade in 36 anyway.

Main rival played Kelly. Bolton had so many chances.

Is it worth getting in Dempsey for Bale on a free transfer? He should do well against Chelsea and Wigan.

I'd be dealing with enrique and to a lesser extent kelly first

10 points with 6 players and captain to go...anyone do worse than that?

    Misplaced post:

People talking about bringing in Demps in GW35 (or keeping hold of him), are you not concerned about his returns in the four subsequent games? And the home game against Chelsea for that matter.

May sound like madness but I'm still thinking of passing on him for the rest of the season.

chelsea didn't look great and winning 3-0 on the road before a derby can only help. Also seemed to play upfront

Probably lose King just because of his injury/rotation issues. Any other regular spurs defender and I'd say ditch Simpson.

what you think please? King to whom?
    A. Lescot. double up with komps,
    B. Kaboul. finally double up with friedel and DGW soon.
    C. Sagna. No double up, arsenal defence cover?
    D. other?

Depends on your numbers for GW34 - Sagna if you'll have less than 10, Kaboul otherwise.
