Having failed to notch away from Craven Cottage this calendar year, many a Fantasy managers’ plans for the upcoming double Gameweek 36 had centred around getting rid of Clint Dempsey. This afternoon at the Reebok, the American give us plenty to ponder as a brace ended Bolton’s recent winning run and sent the US international to second behind Robin Van Persie in the overall points rankings.

Prior to today’s display, Dempsey’s notoriously poor away form had produced just three goals, compared to 10 goals and six assists in front of his own fans. With a blank Gameweek 34 on the horizon and trips to Liverpool and Everton in Gameweek 36, the decision to transfer him out made plenty sense; Fulham had scored just eight on the road all season before today, after all. Now, however, many have a dilemma.

Given his current form, those still holding Dempsey will surely look upon Monday evening’s upcoming home clash against Chelsea as another potentially strong opportunity of points. The visit of Wigan in Gameweek 35 affords him the chance of a substantial home haul, with the option of the captain’s armband a definite possibility.

While Gareth Bale and David Silva (without a goal since Gameweek 24 and Gameweek 16 respectively) stumble towards the finish line, Dempsey – handed a role up front in light of Pavel Pogrebnyak’s absence – simply shows no sign of letting up as he forges further ahead of his fellow-midfielders in the Fantasy running.

Transfer plans may now be postponed or ripped up altogether as we look for ways to hold onto the American. That straight swap for Theo Walcott before Arsenal’s trip to Wolves on Wednesday that many had in mind, or the move to Stephane Sessegnon for Sunderland’s home game with the midlanders in Gameweek 34 may never see the light of day now. With form the clear winner over fixtures as the season heats up, can we really afford to run the risk of moving out such a potent source of points?

Hope demps and mata secure my final spot in the members cup. Though cisse had dumped me out after game one. My opponent benched Dempsey. Good times.

    Monday morning:

    Skrtel to Kolarov
    Bale to Walcott
    Crouch to Tevez

8 point hit. Tomorrow's games could affect my decision but I'm strongly leaning towards this right now. The points hit is irrelevant since it saves me 2 hits over weeks 34-36

      Enrique to Vermaelen
      Dempsey to Sessegnon
      Yakubu to Cisse

      4 points well spent.

Selling bale when the play Norwich, is just as daft as benching Dempsey v Bolton in my opinion.

Watch the comments role in next week when you offload him and then he gets double points.

      I did a 4point hit on:

      Young HBA
      Kelly Young

not fooked about Kelly's CS -cause would have played Caulker anyway..
But the Hit allowed me to go into Week 34 with lots of funds in the Bank

How does Bale to Walcott save a hit after GW34 - surely you'd want him back when Arsenal have CHE & sto and spurs have the double?

I'm doing Bale to Walcott either 33 or 34. If I do it 33 I save a transfer 34, which will save a hit in 36. Hence I take a hit regardless of when I do it.

Someone suggested last week that Mancini has started playing Kolarov when Kompany plays. It makes sense since the defence is more solid with Bad K in the team and Kolarov has been offering a lot of threat going forward. However, I checked recent fixtures and it didn't quite prove the theory.

Kolarov has been great recently when he's played so I'm hoping he's becoming more in favour.

With 3 games in a week Kolarov is bound to start at least 1 of GW33 and 34.

If you get him in he should provide the points when he plays as shown by his PPG. If he doesn't there is always the chance of points off the bench as you know all too well after today. Owning him will be stressful though.

Note to self, always make sure you save your changes.

Could have sworn I swapped Clint and McClean

12 points from my starters 13 from Clint plus 6 each from Mings and Santon = a awful weekend

Still got 6 to play to rescue it.

Sold Clint to fund a move to Dave, but he is back in in 35 to take the armband.

          Would rather the latter, anywho.........

          Here’s the plan

          Task 1: Get a full XI for GW34 ✔

          Vermaelen(WIG) • Evans(AV) • Turner(WOL) • Caulker(BLA)
          Valencia(AV) • Walcott(WIG) • Sigurdsson(BLA) • Sessegnon(WOL)
          Rooney(AV) • RVP(WIG)(C)

          Subs: Sorenson(N/A) • Cisse(N/A) • Bale(N/A) • Simpson(N/A)

Task 2: Get a decent amount of DGWers ✔

          GW34: Save
          GW35: Walcott + Vermaelen → Kaboul + Dempsey/Gerrard
          GW36: Rooney + Turner → Adebayor + Baines -4

          Vorm(WOL)
          Baines(FUL,sto) • Kaboul(BLA,bol) • Simpson(wig,che)
          Bale(BLA,bol) • Dempsey(eve,liv) • Sessegnon(BOL) • Sigurdsson(WOL)
          RVP(sto) • Adebayor(BLA,bol) • P.Cisse(wig,che)

          Subs: Sorenson(ARS,eve) • Caulker(WOL) • Valencia(mc) • Evans(mc)

It's quite refreshing to see that Dempsey's poor away record includes scoring at Chelsea in the 1-1 draw GW18

+1 for Dempsey owners but it's a -1 for Chelsea fans. That leaves me on 0 🙂

Cool. I played Dempsey and benched Walcott in the end and it payed off, however got rid of Dempsey yesterday and got Sess for the GW 34 before the price rise:(

Just hope he doesn't score many versus Chelsea - don't think he will. Will get him back for Sess in GW 35 and will definitely play him in GW 36 as well. Also benched Krul and Simpson. Got 0 for Baines.

        Here is my team: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/1463087/history/

Want to play 3-4-3 for GW 33, dunno who to pick?

Currently want to play both Krul and Simpson and bench Baines and Sess, is that correct?

Hi Parm! You mena to bench Baines, Sess and play both Krul and Simpson?

I mean, I have to play Verm and Evans, right?

Bench Baines, Sess and Caulker imo, Don't double up on Newcastle.

Bench Krul, play Vorm. Or play Krul and Caulker instead of Vorm + Simpson

Why would Mig be rested? O'Neill chats it to the media. He wants to finish as high as possible, and I very much doubt he'd rotate a keeper.

Sorry, for re post. Any thoughts this team for GW 36?

    BOGDAN- Mig

BAINES – WHEATER – Caulker (Jevans – Simpson)

MATA – BALE – Walcott – Siggy (Valencia)

    Roo – RVP – Bendy

I’ve got Dempsey at the mo (benched him this GW, gutted) but plan is to get him out for mata in gw36 for the nice looking chelsea DGW. Not too sure if this is wise. Also, is it essential to get Cisse in ?

    Cheers

Whether it was staring at stats on the laptop screen, or having it on the back of my mind while watching the telly, or just pondering it while sitting on the sh*tter, I reckon I must have spent a good 2-3 hours debating who to play out my front 8 this week, and in all likelihood, as many of us will have done, I've probably ended up and gone and benched my highest scorer.

Next year I may experiment with just setting up a few objective team selection rules and sticking to them ie highest total score, if tie then value, if tie then those at home.

Then utilise all the hours I would have wasted on more productive pursuits. Reckon I should probably be able to learn another language and maybe become a competent sculptor

too many big players in midfield will always cause bench chaos, thats why ive gone for two mid priced in siggy and mclean which i can rotate
