Having failed to notch away from Craven Cottage this calendar year, many a Fantasy managers’ plans for the upcoming double Gameweek 36 had centred around getting rid of Clint Dempsey. This afternoon at the Reebok, the American give us plenty to ponder as a brace ended Bolton’s recent winning run and sent the US international to second behind Robin Van Persie in the overall points rankings.

Prior to today’s display, Dempsey’s notoriously poor away form had produced just three goals, compared to 10 goals and six assists in front of his own fans. With a blank Gameweek 34 on the horizon and trips to Liverpool and Everton in Gameweek 36, the decision to transfer him out made plenty sense; Fulham had scored just eight on the road all season before today, after all. Now, however, many have a dilemma.

Given his current form, those still holding Dempsey will surely look upon Monday evening’s upcoming home clash against Chelsea as another potentially strong opportunity of points. The visit of Wigan in Gameweek 35 affords him the chance of a substantial home haul, with the option of the captain’s armband a definite possibility.

While Gareth Bale and David Silva (without a goal since Gameweek 24 and Gameweek 16 respectively) stumble towards the finish line, Dempsey – handed a role up front in light of Pavel Pogrebnyak’s absence – simply shows no sign of letting up as he forges further ahead of his fellow-midfielders in the Fantasy running.

Transfer plans may now be postponed or ripped up altogether as we look for ways to hold onto the American. That straight swap for Theo Walcott before Arsenal’s trip to Wolves on Wednesday that many had in mind, or the move to Stephane Sessegnon for Sunderland’s home game with the midlanders in Gameweek 34 may never see the light of day now. With form the clear winner over fixtures as the season heats up, can we really afford to run the risk of moving out such a potent source of points?

Evening everyone, just got back so I'm catching up with today's events.

As a Jelavic owner and a Dempsey player, my only complaint is the clean sheet situation, which seems churlish given that some sold/benched Dempsey this week.

You having another rethink about Dempsey now?

Don't be too upset about clean sheets, I have 0, 1 and 2 from my defence so far with Evans to go and Krul on the bench. And it's a an expensive defence!

    Kaboul or Lescott?
Both an aerial threat - Spurs have the better run of fixtures apart from the blank in 34. Lescott could get rotated for Toure at some point I suppose.

ok folks here is my current plan up to DGW

GW34 save transfer and play with 10

    GW35 Theo to Clint (c)

GW36 De Gea, Evans, Skrtel and Rooney to Friedel, Baines, Huth and Ade (-8)

    Thus in 36

    Friedel (BLA, bol)

Baines (sto, FUL) Santon (wig, che) Caulker (WOL)

Bale (BLA, bol) Dempsey (eve, liv) Sess (BOL) Siggy (WOL)/McClean (BOL)

Rvp (sto) Cisse (wig, che) Ade (c) (BLA, bol)

I'd have 2.3 spare, anyone suggest an improvement on those transfers?

        Boo hoo.

Tell it to Clint Hill against Bolton or SWP against WBA.

It happens to all of us down the bottom there. Wigan aren't the first team down the bottom to get stitched up. That decision will not be the reason why Wigan go down, if they go down.

    Krul Vorm
    Evans Shawcross Simpson ENRIQUE SENDEROS
    Bale Walcott Dempsey Valencia Siggy
    RVP Rooney GRAHAM

2 FT, 0.5 in bank. Only 8 for GW34 atm.

Yeah so all the smaller teams who are on the end of shit refereeing should be sympathised with as it's completely wrong.

I have no sympathy at all.

It's every team for themselves down the bottom now and, frankly, as long as Wolves and 2 of Blackburn, Bolton or Wigan go down instead of QPR then its all good as far as I'm concerned.

Then disallowed goals for us v Bolton, and WBA suited others, so I know the feeling. The fact is that too many wrong decisions are being made by officials, and it is accepted as part of the game.

Relating to IT's post there was a lurker who responded called...Lurking funnily enough.

He/she spoke of playing 11 during 34 to "earn" points for GW36 transfers so to speak.

Therefore Clint to Walcott will go ahead but postponed till 34 and then reversed till 35, quicker than you can say two wasted transfers.
