The April 8 suspension amnesty has now passed, meaning the bar has now been raised to 15 yellows before any further bans for cautions accrued kick in. Only one of the three players sitting on nine yellows prior to last weekend picked up a booking – Laurent Koscielny was the guilty party at the Emirates against City on Sunday, meaning the Arsenal centre-half will now sit out the next couple of Gameweeks.

Arsene Wenger will need to make do without Koscielny’s services for Wednesday’s trip to Wolves as well as next Monday’s home clash against Wigan, before the defender is available for selection for the Emirates showdown with Chelsea in Gameweek 35.

The Gunners man was hardly the headline-maker in the 1-0 win, though. That dubious honour went the way of Mario Balotelli and, according to reports, the City forward could, potentially, be facing a nine-game ban for his misdemeanours.

Having already been dismissed earlier this season, Balotelli will definitely be handed a three-match suspension for his sending off, while he may also incur the FA’s wrath for the first-half studs-up lunge on Alex Song. If referee Martin Atkinson reports that neither he nor his assistants had a view on the latter incident, the FA may also charge Balotelli with violent conduct – that would bring a three-match ban, plus three more matches for his previous dismissals would bring the tally to nine.

Branislav Ivanovic could also be heading for trouble after his off-the-ball punch on Wigan’s Shaun Maloney. The incident happened in the build-up to Chelsea’s late winner over the Latics but, as the referee Mike Jones missed the incident, the FA were not made aware of it in time, meaning Ivanovic was available for the trip to Fulham last night. The incident will now be reviewed, with the defender facing a possible three-match ban – he would miss the FA Cup Semi-Final against Spurs, in addition to league clashes with Arsenal and QPR, if found guilty.

Shaun Derry’s appeal over a straight red card received at Old Trafford on Sunday will be heard by the FA this afternoon – the midfielder is hoping his current one-match ban will be overturned, allowing him to be available for Wednesday’s match with Swansea.

Blackburn’s Anthony Modeste lasted just ten minutes of Blackburn’s defeat at West Brom last weekend. The Frenchman – on as a second half sub – was dismissed for violent conduct after lashing out at the Baggies’ Billy Jones and will now sit out the next three matches for Steve Kean’s strugglers.

As mentioned, the yellow card limit has now been extended from 10 to 15 cautions before players receive an automatic ban. No one managed this feat last term, though Cheick Tiote got within touching distance after picking up 14 cautions – this time round, Lee Cattermole is making a decent attempt, with the Sunderland skipper currently sitting on 12 yellows with five Gameweeks remaining. Cattermole seems the likeliest to achieve this, with Blackburn’s Jason Lowe hot on his heels with 11.

Gameweek 33 Bans

  • Shaun Derry – 1 Red for Denying a Goalscoring Opportunity (One-match ban)
  • Mario Balotelli – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (Three-match ban, having previously been dismissed this season)
  • Laurent Koscielny – 1 Yellow took his haul to 10 bookings (Two-match ban)
  • Anthony Modeste – 1 Red for Violent Conduct (Three-match ban)
  • Jose Reina – serving second game of three-match ban.
  • Djibril Cisse – serving third game of four-match ban.

Got stuck in the bottom of last page and then an old post so sorry for re-posting but I'd love some advice:-

So I now trail my main opponent by 1 point, yes 1 point!

    My team is:

    Bogdan/Mignolet

    Vermaelen/Evans/Wilkinson/Caulker/Kaboul

    Valencia/Ben Arfa/Mata/Sigurdsson/Sessengon

    Rooney/RVP/Cisse

His is the exact same, except Baines for Kaboul/Bale for Mata/Krul for Mignolet

I have 2 FTs, so I’m thinking that I’ll use them both this week then do nothing and have a great gameweek 36. So I was wondering what transfers I could make to make this team better than my opponents. (I don’t mind using other strategies including taking a hit as long as its sound)

Sorry for the lengthy post, but someone advice would be lovely.

5.9 Million in the bank btw

10:42 Mario Balotelli challenges Alex Song unfairly and gives away a free kick. Mikel Arteta takes the direct free kick

From the BBC. Can he claim he didn't see it properly enough to send him off but only to give a free kick? This doesn't sound right to me, given that they can't rescind yellow cards for this very reason. Also, the FFS article just mentions 'seeing it'.

Is Cabbage still on? Sorry, my computer died on me! Does your spreadsheet just follow the form of the players you have selected as potential signings (like a watchlist), or does it give you stats on EVERY PLAYER?

I only have two simple spreadsheets. One is for my planned squad for the next few game weeks, the other looks at potential defensive and attacking rotation. It basically just looks at fixtures.

I am probably going to make an improved version over the summer, and bring in other variables such as the defensive strength of my (potential) player, rather than just the opposition. Maybe also price too.

I can bring in team form (defence/ attack) by updating these values on a regular basis (monthly?) but I just can’t get my head round how you would bring in form for individual players!!

Is it easy enough to do? Or do you have to be an excel expert, with LOADS of time on your hands?

I will understand if you want to keep this info secret!!

I am thinking about plotting graphs to shows goals per gameweek over the season, and also goal margins per GW for all the teams. (a 3-1 win is a +2)

This will give an idea as to how the game changes over a season and which teams were in form when. Obviously will be massively more useful if I can do it for more than just this season.

Actually I think players matter more than teams, to be frank.. For example, Newcastle are performing very well, but Ba is certainly not worth having at the moment.. You also have to take into account new signings, managers, Europe, Cup games et al..

So the top 5(6) midfielders for GW34…

    Valencia, Walcott, Young, McClean/Sess, Sigurdsson

Agreed? If not, who do you feel makes the top 5 (6 if you include McClean or Sess)

    probably same question as many:
I need to get in a midfielder for GW34 and GW35 but already have:

    Valencia, Sess, Siggy, Bale, Demps

I guess the best bet is Bale to Walcott ?
My league leader (only 10 point lead) has Walcott so I guess it's the smart move but not an aggressive move. I've also been thinking about Aston Villa (Herd or Ireland in for Bale)? Any ideas?

FPL towers must be absolutely exhausted after putting baps out on Sunday evening. They will proabably put baps out on Friday to compensate for being so fast on Sunday and prove that FPL still sucks this year.

so my plan, i have a good solid 11 for 34 without altering my team to badly, not taking any hits for dgw, will have 7 dgw players.
At least by having 11 in 34 and not going crazy and loading up for the double, il not be worrying about rotation come dgw, i can see people in my leagues taking hits for average players who may not even get 180 minutes

Something has just occurred to me regarding Chelsea and rotation. Their DGW is AFTER they've played both legs against Barca, at which point they will most likely be out of Europe and want to concentrate on the league and that crucial champions league spot, so surely rotation will be limited?

The DGW is straight after Barca, Ars, Barca, I think the players will need to recover, rather than rest in preperation for anything.

    Here's my team:

    Mignolet - Al Habsi

    BAE - J Evans - Verm - Williamson - Taylor

Sigurdsson - Mata - Ben Arfa - Valencia - Sessegnon

Van Persie - Rooney - Dave

    I've got 1FT...what should I do?

Any decent advice would be much appreciated. £1.1m in the bank by the way.

    GW34 Team

    Mignolet

    Caulker, Evans, Vermaelen, Rodgwell/McAuley/Kompany

    Valencia, Walcott, Siggy, Sessegnon

    Rooney, RVP

How does this look and which defender would you pick for the last spot? Thanks in advance.

pienaar has to be one of the better prospects for the DGW as he will miss the fa cup game with liverpool and so will more than likely escape rotation.

Is it worth taking 4 point hits for defenders? Still got R.Taylor and need to get rid of him. Thinking of maybe Caulker/Turner/Taylor.............

A hit could work if the defender fits in well for the rest of the season and has great fixtures, plus maybe a DGW.

not worth the hit imo unless the upside is high enough to offset the -4. Normally its just not there for defenders

Had Caulker for many weeks, mostly benched, and missed A LOT of points as a result. He's been very effective and plays well forward for set pieces. Sunderland's defence are weaker right now, without O'Shea, Brown and Bramble. Caulker 100%.
