The April 8 suspension amnesty has now passed, meaning the bar has now been raised to 15 yellows before any further bans for cautions accrued kick in. Only one of the three players sitting on nine yellows prior to last weekend picked up a booking – Laurent Koscielny was the guilty party at the Emirates against City on Sunday, meaning the Arsenal centre-half will now sit out the next couple of Gameweeks.

Arsene Wenger will need to make do without Koscielny’s services for Wednesday’s trip to Wolves as well as next Monday’s home clash against Wigan, before the defender is available for selection for the Emirates showdown with Chelsea in Gameweek 35.

The Gunners man was hardly the headline-maker in the 1-0 win, though. That dubious honour went the way of Mario Balotelli and, according to reports, the City forward could, potentially, be facing a nine-game ban for his misdemeanours.

Having already been dismissed earlier this season, Balotelli will definitely be handed a three-match suspension for his sending off, while he may also incur the FA’s wrath for the first-half studs-up lunge on Alex Song. If referee Martin Atkinson reports that neither he nor his assistants had a view on the latter incident, the FA may also charge Balotelli with violent conduct – that would bring a three-match ban, plus three more matches for his previous dismissals would bring the tally to nine.

Branislav Ivanovic could also be heading for trouble after his off-the-ball punch on Wigan’s Shaun Maloney. The incident happened in the build-up to Chelsea’s late winner over the Latics but, as the referee Mike Jones missed the incident, the FA were not made aware of it in time, meaning Ivanovic was available for the trip to Fulham last night. The incident will now be reviewed, with the defender facing a possible three-match ban – he would miss the FA Cup Semi-Final against Spurs, in addition to league clashes with Arsenal and QPR, if found guilty.

Shaun Derry’s appeal over a straight red card received at Old Trafford on Sunday will be heard by the FA this afternoon – the midfielder is hoping his current one-match ban will be overturned, allowing him to be available for Wednesday’s match with Swansea.

Blackburn’s Anthony Modeste lasted just ten minutes of Blackburn’s defeat at West Brom last weekend. The Frenchman – on as a second half sub – was dismissed for violent conduct after lashing out at the Baggies’ Billy Jones and will now sit out the next three matches for Steve Kean’s strugglers.

As mentioned, the yellow card limit has now been extended from 10 to 15 cautions before players receive an automatic ban. No one managed this feat last term, though Cheick Tiote got within touching distance after picking up 14 cautions – this time round, Lee Cattermole is making a decent attempt, with the Sunderland skipper currently sitting on 12 yellows with five Gameweeks remaining. Cattermole seems the likeliest to achieve this, with Blackburn’s Jason Lowe hot on his heels with 11.

Gameweek 33 Bans

  • Shaun Derry – 1 Red for Denying a Goalscoring Opportunity (One-match ban)
  • Mario Balotelli – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (Three-match ban, having previously been dismissed this season)
  • Laurent Koscielny – 1 Yellow took his haul to 10 bookings (Two-match ban)
  • Anthony Modeste – 1 Red for Violent Conduct (Three-match ban)
  • Jose Reina – serving second game of three-match ban.
  • Djibril Cisse – serving third game of four-match ban.

    HOWARD, SCHWARZER
    Rafael, Rangel, Vermaelen (CAHILL, S.KELLY)
    A.Young, Siggy, Sess, McClean (DEMPSEY)
    Rooney, rvp (P.CISSE)

Already used my FT to get McClean in (Walters had to go!), any of these worth a 4 point hit?

    A) Schwarzer -> Mignolet
    B) S.Kelly -> 6.5 defender (Komp/Lescott/Turner/McAuley)
    C) Dempsey -> Walcott

Note: I will not loose much value on Demps and will get him back in the week after

I'd rather you hadn't gotten McClean in. 2 Sunderland is overkill IMO. You could've addressed the keeper issue. But not worth a hit. Looks fine.

I don't think two Sunderland attack is overkill in a week like this. Wolves don't keep clean sheets and I can't really see them starting to do this at the stadium of light. More likely to see a goal fest then a 0-0.

But you'll have to offload him eventually for the DGW if you want players like HBA/Pienaar in there.

Your call. 🙂 But Im happy with Sess. McClean is lovely value though I say!

      A Howard owner! Hello friend!

Rafael too? Congrats sir, I hope he keeps starting for you!

I'm in a very similar position this week with Howard and Bogdan but have opted to field another defender instead of getting rid. However in your case I would say Schwarzer>Mignolet makes the most sense!

I hope he keeps starting but I fear rotation soon. I'm sure taking out Captain America for one week only will be worth it. We all expect Arsenal to do put at least a couple past Wigan and Walcott will probably be involved. Then I can Dempsey straight back in.....

I don't know why I'm scared of Walcott I think it's because 2nd in my mini league has him as his main differential to my team! I will wait to see how he does against Wolves.

I'm on 9 atm! Is the keeper issue really worth it? Schwarzer->Mignolet makes sense this week but Fulham probably have a better clean sheet chance the week after.

Simpson > Who? so i can field XI

    Current backline is
    Mignolet, Krul
    Evans, Caulker, Verm, Kaboul, Simpson

Obvious one would be Turner but not worth doubling up on Sunderland?

In his first 4 seasons in the EPL, Fernando Torres was the most prolific goal scorer (66) more than the likes of Rooney (61) and Drogba (53) over the same period. < This includes his largely barren first 6 months at Chelsea and no penalties as Superdunny pointed out.

I'm probably going to revive Adebayor from the dead after his last DGW fail and give him another crack at the cherry, along with Cisse and RVP of course.

Mata is the one I'd be spending that kind of cash on.

Rooney gets frustrated during games if he isn't involved. Scholes and Carrick aren't the most mobile of midfields so when the ball isn't coming into the final third enough he drops back to help them out and try and influence the game himself.

I think he also quite enjoys playing switch balls to the likes of Young and especially Valencia. It's almost as if he drops back and says "enough of this sheeyite" and whacks a 30/40 yarder pass out to Valencia to get an attack going...

that is very true, against QPR he was often pinging balls out to Valencia and Young, then sprinting to try and get into the box to get on the end of them.

United need a Modric type player, mobile and able to play a fast paced game, but also able to slow it down when needed, this would allow Rooney more freedom to stay high up as the ball would arrive faster.

Berba can be just a frustrating as Welbeck, seems to miss what seem easy chances, and doesn't have the pace of Danny. But yeah, Welbeck's form has dipped the last few weeks (a sign of tiredness perhaps, which wouldn't be that unsurprising) and Berba can link the play very well.

That being said my money is on Hernandez and Rooney being up front tomorrow. I doubt we'll see Berba until the title is won.

He is a good player, not denying it, plus he is a local lad.

I just said he looked tired.

As for catching a long ball, have you seen Berba's first touch, I have never seen anyone trap a ball dropping over his head and kill it stone dead like he does, he makes it look efortless.

(The only problem is he makes everything look effortless, giving the impression that he is not trying)

    What to improve:

    -------------------Vorm Schwarcer--------------

    -----Baines---JEvans--Kaboul--Kelly---Shotton----

    -Valencia---Siggy--Dempsey---Bale----Moses-----

    ---------Bendtner---RvP---Rooney----------

    have 2FT and 1.7m budget

I think to get Bogdan in place of Schwarcer, also an option is to take Miyachi or Petrov to have a little Bolton dgw cover. I think to have 2FT for GW36 ... well please give me an advice!

you only have 1 defender for GW34... consider Turner or even Caulker (for Kelly / Shotton).

      good forward line.

i'd be tempted to get rid of Baines as well for Vermaelen.

I'd avoid Bolton tbh, they are awful and perhaps aside from Moses all those mids could outscore a Bolton player in one game. Since you have to play 3 at the back and Shotton is not nailed on, maybe Shotton to McAuley to get 10 out for 34.

      Vorm

Evans, McAuley then any non-playing defender

      Valencia, Siggy, Dempsey, Moses

      Bendtner, RvP (c) Rooney

I think its above time QPR to make something significant, and expect WBA to concede more than 2 goals. If it is right then McAuley will have 0 points... isnt be better to take Huth or someone else with good fixtures

Huth has no game in 34. You need someone for that week. In that respect I would lose Shotton to one of Turner or Caulker if you don't trust WBA.

I think its better to go with Turner, I don't like to have one more time 3 players from Swansea, especially two of the from the defense.

What do you think on Schwarcer to Bogdan (good prospect for saves)

    ok folks 2 things

No 1 - 1 spot open in my DGW team, it is a striker spot currently being held for Ade, but given Spurs' form, Jelavic and Suarez are both coming into contention. Much will be determined by Sunday night when we know who is in the final.

No 2 . Remember my post analysing the DGW? Well I am working on more, but these will be position by position looks at the options for DGW and beyond. Once again, these will be finalized after the semi's so you can expect the first one around this time next week.

No RMT from me this week, I have only 11 playing so it is not really an issue and RvP is the most logical captain choice. In fact, GW35 is not much different as Dempsey will be coming in to take the armband.

Is Enrique to Wheater/Ream a decent shout? I have 2 freebies, and 11 players set for gw34. I'm almost transferring for the sake of it as I'm decently happy with my squad, but just a little worried about L'pool rotation/form.

I would if I kept him, but Wheater or Ream, I presume, are fairly rotation proof, just as likely to keep cleanies at the mo, and have a 2x double game weeks. It's tempting, but it's hard to pull the trigger!

Ream looked pretty rotten on MOTD, I'd go Wheater of the two as he might nick a goal. Double double is tempting, but you would need to think hard about who you'd drop

      i wouldn't.

Bolton are far from solid at the back and can see them conceding in all their DGW games.

if you want Bolton cover, go for Miyaichi or Petrov.

as for Enrique, i am in the same position. will probably hold for the DGW, bit concerned about tonight as i think Kenny will rotate. but i have NTaylor first sub and all rivals have Vorm so to save me worrying about a Swans CS i hope Enrique is dropped.

I however, am not connvinced any keeper is worth a hit for DGW

If you already own him however.

I will have Santon and Cisse for Toon DGW coverage

Do you think Santon is likely to keep his place? He played yesterday with Colo fit and Raylor out, but when Tiote gets back is he likely to drop out again with Perch going to lb?

With Spurs (BAE, Walker, Ade, Bale, VDV), Chelsea (Cole, Terry, Mata, Lampard, Torres), Liverpool (G.Johnson, Gerrard, Suarez) and Everton (just counting Baines here) having the best fixtures during the DGW there is a severe lack of budget options to be had.

Most expensive DGW in memory, this will destroy well-built teams.

I've gone Dempsey, Simpson, Adebayor. Adebayor is an expensive third sub so I need to reconsider him in my squad I think.

Dempsey first sub. If anyone can score without a fixture it's him.

    Because nobody else will give a damn, (neither will you lot) and I need a rant;

Why the flip does Lawrie Sanchez insist on playing two defensive midfielders in the Man City last season style with Barnet this season! Then because all our defenders are young loanees we play with a high line to put more of the pressure on Dean Brill in goal.

Make your mind up are we an attack minded team or defensive?

When we attack we have ten men behind the ball, and suprise suprise their is no fecker in the box as Izzle McLeod (lone striker) is on the wing collecting the long ball.

When we defend we only have 4 men behind as the fullbacks dont realise they are not supposed to attack, and the wingers are wary of getting back. So we essentially have two lines of CB's all game who are supposed to do all our defending.

    PICK A DAMN SYSTEM SANCHEZ!!!!!!!

    Sanchez out.

In fairness, he has managed to get some decent CB's and FB's on loan.

That comment makes me so happy. Not alone in my beliefs then. Sad fact is Grazzioli has saved us from relegation for the last 3 seasons and he is still only assistant manager.

He started off well, but when Marshall got done for drugs confidence at the club dropped. He did sod all about it and now were facing relegation, its all a farce.

I don't agree.Rooney thrives against the big clubs and welcomes the challenge of the big games... since January he has hit braces against City (FA cup), Chelsea and Liverpool and one against Tottenham. I won't even bother to mention the fact that recently Man City are not playing to their potential (to put it mildly)...I would also wait to see where Rooney plays the next few games as with the return of Cleverly he may return to his usual slot up front, rather than drifting around the midfield
        Hope that helps

Last season I'd have agreed, 0-0 written all over it. Not this season as Man Utd are far better away and Man City are playing in a more attacking style.

Also as Bolkjaworski says Rooney loves these sort of games.....remember his overhead kick against city last season.

Rooney is not leaving my team in gwk36. Only Cisse is screaming out as a must have double week forward. None of the others can match Rooney imo.

I'm going into next week with 9 players I think, don't want to part with BAE, Baines, Cisse, Simpson, Bale.

Will probably get Dempsey back in for the wigan game and beyond (DON'T ASK, JUST DON'T ASK ME WHY I DITCHED HIM) and one of HBA/Piennar...maybe Bogdan as well.

Yeah, I can't see myself getting rid of Cisse with his current form, but I would like some Chelsea cover for the DGW. I had Torres for a few (3?) weeks and he got me some pts (17) and I think in the DGW he could potentially start knocking some in...only thing is I can't see myself parting with Rooney or Van P either. Looking at Lampard for the midfield and with Cisse in it would certainly give the pts. I wouldn't worry too much about Dempsey...I myself thought long and hard on it... in the end I benched Arteta for Siggy which robbed me of a huge differential...ah well...I have been meaning to get Bale in the side...but with his current lack of form...can't see it happening until the DGW if it all. Pienaar seems a good punt...have to think how to get him in. For next week I have 10...switched out Ivanovic (suspension pending) for Sagna...was thinking to get sess in for demps....but the cash hit to get him back and the -4 hit...in the long term i think sticking with Demps is the better option.....Sorry, got a bit carried away...would appreciate your thoughts
                Cheers
