[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

The April 8 suspension amnesty has now passed, meaning the bar has now been raised to 15 yellows before any further bans for cautions accrued kick in. Only one of the three players sitting on nine yellows prior to last weekend picked up a booking – Laurent Koscielny was the guilty party at the Emirates against City on Sunday, meaning the Arsenal centre-half will now sit out the next couple of Gameweeks.

Arsene Wenger will need to make do without Koscielny’s services for Wednesday’s trip to Wolves as well as next Monday’s home clash against Wigan, before the defender is available for selection for the Emirates showdown with Chelsea in Gameweek 35.

The Gunners man was hardly the headline-maker in the 1-0 win, though. That dubious honour went the way of Mario Balotelli and, according to reports, the City forward could, potentially, be facing a nine-game ban for his misdemeanours.

Having already been dismissed earlier this season, Balotelli will definitely be handed a three-match suspension for his sending off, while he may also incur the FA’s wrath for the first-half studs-up lunge on Alex Song. If referee Martin Atkinson reports that neither he nor his assistants had a view on the latter incident, the FA may also charge Balotelli with violent conduct – that would bring a three-match ban, plus three more matches for his previous dismissals would bring the tally to nine.

Branislav Ivanovic could also be heading for trouble after his off-the-ball punch on Wigan’s Shaun Maloney. The incident happened in the build-up to Chelsea’s late winner over the Latics but, as the referee Mike Jones missed the incident, the FA were not made aware of it in time, meaning Ivanovic was available for the trip to Fulham last night. The incident will now be reviewed, with the defender facing a possible three-match ban – he would miss the FA Cup Semi-Final against Spurs, in addition to league clashes with Arsenal and QPR, if found guilty.

Shaun Derry’s appeal over a straight red card received at Old Trafford on Sunday will be heard by the FA this afternoon – the midfielder is hoping his current one-match ban will be overturned, allowing him to be available for Wednesday’s match with Swansea.

Blackburn’s Anthony Modeste lasted just ten minutes of Blackburn’s defeat at West Brom last weekend. The Frenchman – on as a second half sub – was dismissed for violent conduct after lashing out at the Baggies’ Billy Jones and will now sit out the next three matches for Steve Kean’s strugglers.

As mentioned, the yellow card limit has now been extended from 10 to 15 cautions before players receive an automatic ban. No one managed this feat last term, though Cheick Tiote got within touching distance after picking up 14 cautions – this time round, Lee Cattermole is making a decent attempt, with the Sunderland skipper currently sitting on 12 yellows with five Gameweeks remaining. Cattermole seems the likeliest to achieve this, with Blackburn’s Jason Lowe hot on his heels with 11.

Gameweek 33 Bans

  • Shaun Derry – 1 Red for Denying a Goalscoring Opportunity (One-match ban)
  • Mario Balotelli – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (Three-match ban, having previously been dismissed this season)
  • Laurent Koscielny – 1 Yellow took his haul to 10 bookings (Two-match ban)
  • Anthony Modeste – 1 Red for Violent Conduct (Three-match ban)
  • Jose Reina – serving second game of three-match ban.
  • Djibril Cisse – serving third game of four-match ban.

I come from the mindeset of Hockey. It came of his head and was going near the goal, deflection then in. I call that a goal every time. I think if you send a cross in at 90mph and it blast a dude in the face and goes in, that too is a Goal.

That being said I am new to the sport and getting a we bit more confused each time these opportunites for clarificationa rise.

You win some you loose some. I won with Ridgwell's Folicle goal last season.

    OK, RMT time!

    GW34 team atm:

    Mignolet
    Evans | Caulker | Vermaelen
    Valencia | Siggy | Walcott
    RVP | Rooney

Schwarzer; Enrique, Simpson, Bale, Cisse, Ryo
1.5 in the bank, 2 FTs

    1) Just do Ryo to McClean, play with 10 this week and use 3 transfers GW35 and 36 to have 8 DGWers.
    2) Do Enrique to someone like Turner, WBA def, and do Ryo to Sess, to play 11 for this week and have 7 DGWers (and have Sess rather than McClean)

Kelly out to make 10 players this week. Who's the best?

    A. Kompany .. away to Norwich will be tough for CS
    B. Turner .. what happened at Goodison yesterday?
    C. Caulker .. double Swansea? have Vorm in goal.
    D. Collins/Cuellar .. tough this week but DGW next.

    Help me pick one please.

              This is my thinking.

Pressure is off now. Dzeko has good record scoring as a sub and will probably start a few.

Doesnt look like Tevez is fit and now the title race is over dont see why Mancini will try too hard to play him.

Guess differences will be primarily in Arsenal/Sunderland mids and defence.

Probably worth keeping the FT transfer in this case, he won't be dropping for a few days and may well just be worth keeping for the DGW either way.

What's the point? He has a lot of assists yes but he never scores and rarely gets bonus. Moses is ahead of him, and Pilkington, Jarvis etc. High risk, minimum gain. And bad value.

Strikers are going to be ridiculously priced next season, soo many have out performed themselves, especially the cheap ones.

    Ba - 16
    Yakubu - 14 goals
    Holt - 13
    Grahem - 10
    Cisse - 10 (Already)

Last season the top scorers were Berbatov and Tevez with 20, RVP & Rooney have already gone past that this season.

He's a lot better than Holt, and he's done OK. No pace, but I think lower league players whose main asset is pace struggle in the PL - PL defenders in general tend to be A LOT quicker than their lower division counterparts.

Lambert is used to having no pace, and has adapted to that.

Is it worth taking a hit for a spurs defender for the DGW, even if it would be to take out a Swansea or Sunderland defender? I want to get Moses for the last two, so without a hit, I would be stuck with defenders with rubbish fixtures, where as spurs' fixtures have clean sheets written all over them

        SPURS: BLA, bol, avl, FUL
        SUN: : BOL, ful, MUN
        SWA: WOL, mun, LIV

I would have to play the defender in each of these weeks. Plenty of chance to more than make up the points? Or should I just play Turner v ful, Caulker v LIV and ignore the double?

I think there will be a lot of people who will take a 4/8 point hit for GW 34 and then do the same for GW36. By doing nothing (except some forward planning) and playing 9 this week I think I can make 8-16 points on some of my rivals over this period. Besides, I know ARS, SUN, SWA and MNU all have great GW34 fixtures but if any of them struggle and you've loaded you're teams up with those players you will be in trouble

+1. The more hits people take for GW34 the less points you'll have and the fewer DGW players you'll have in GW36 (unless more hits are taken). If my understanding is correct of course...

If it costs you 4 pts to get 2pts almost guaranteed (90mins) vs zero then it makes good sense if the player switch is sound and you think they will get at least 2pts or more.

Same logic in a double gameweek 4pt hit for the additional 2pts from the extra fixture

So in my world these are the best weeks for transfers if your options are to get zero from your non-playing/non-double-fixture players

Ya but if the players you bring in doestn perform then you are stuck with that player for the following week. I was considering a 4 point hit this week but decided against it, I'll take a hit in for a DGW player in GW36 as I will have more than one opportunity to make points from a transfer.
