The April 8 suspension amnesty has now passed, meaning the bar has now been raised to 15 yellows before any further bans for cautions accrued kick in. Only one of the three players sitting on nine yellows prior to last weekend picked up a booking – Laurent Koscielny was the guilty party at the Emirates against City on Sunday, meaning the Arsenal centre-half will now sit out the next couple of Gameweeks.

Arsene Wenger will need to make do without Koscielny’s services for Wednesday’s trip to Wolves as well as next Monday’s home clash against Wigan, before the defender is available for selection for the Emirates showdown with Chelsea in Gameweek 35.

The Gunners man was hardly the headline-maker in the 1-0 win, though. That dubious honour went the way of Mario Balotelli and, according to reports, the City forward could, potentially, be facing a nine-game ban for his misdemeanours.

Having already been dismissed earlier this season, Balotelli will definitely be handed a three-match suspension for his sending off, while he may also incur the FA’s wrath for the first-half studs-up lunge on Alex Song. If referee Martin Atkinson reports that neither he nor his assistants had a view on the latter incident, the FA may also charge Balotelli with violent conduct – that would bring a three-match ban, plus three more matches for his previous dismissals would bring the tally to nine.

Branislav Ivanovic could also be heading for trouble after his off-the-ball punch on Wigan’s Shaun Maloney. The incident happened in the build-up to Chelsea’s late winner over the Latics but, as the referee Mike Jones missed the incident, the FA were not made aware of it in time, meaning Ivanovic was available for the trip to Fulham last night. The incident will now be reviewed, with the defender facing a possible three-match ban – he would miss the FA Cup Semi-Final against Spurs, in addition to league clashes with Arsenal and QPR, if found guilty.

Shaun Derry’s appeal over a straight red card received at Old Trafford on Sunday will be heard by the FA this afternoon – the midfielder is hoping his current one-match ban will be overturned, allowing him to be available for Wednesday’s match with Swansea.

Blackburn’s Anthony Modeste lasted just ten minutes of Blackburn’s defeat at West Brom last weekend. The Frenchman – on as a second half sub – was dismissed for violent conduct after lashing out at the Baggies’ Billy Jones and will now sit out the next three matches for Steve Kean’s strugglers.

As mentioned, the yellow card limit has now been extended from 10 to 15 cautions before players receive an automatic ban. No one managed this feat last term, though Cheick Tiote got within touching distance after picking up 14 cautions – this time round, Lee Cattermole is making a decent attempt, with the Sunderland skipper currently sitting on 12 yellows with five Gameweeks remaining. Cattermole seems the likeliest to achieve this, with Blackburn’s Jason Lowe hot on his heels with 11.

Gameweek 33 Bans

  • Shaun Derry – 1 Red for Denying a Goalscoring Opportunity (One-match ban)
  • Mario Balotelli – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (Three-match ban, having previously been dismissed this season)
  • Laurent Koscielny – 1 Yellow took his haul to 10 bookings (Two-match ban)
  • Anthony Modeste – 1 Red for Violent Conduct (Three-match ban)
  • Jose Reina – serving second game of three-match ban.
  • Djibril Cisse – serving third game of four-match ban.

Personally I don't see having missing defenders as much of a big deal. It's low risk having them missing, unless you're wanting to get someone like Verm in who could potentially score highly.

Caulker gets you 6/7 at best then -4, I'd say the transfer would be worth more to you working towards 36.

Your expected difference is a range of -2 to +4 vs getting zero instead. If you think the probability of getting a clean sheet/assist/goal is at least 50% then it's worth taking the hit

            Same logic applies for DGW

Too bad it doesn't work that way. They both have 1 goal & 1 shot on target. Papiss has no shots off target, HBA has 3 shots off target. That will decrease HBA's PPI and Papiss will collect the 3 bp.

If it excludes last night and assume that it would be based on the previous 5 his form was

      2, 2, 2, 11, 15

People like Ben Arfa had better form

      8, 3, 15, 11, 4

Even Gerrard's "form" was slightly better

Need some inspiration a bit stuck for ideas

Considering selling one of Shotton (4.0), Bale (9.2) or Enrique (5.3) and 0.7 in the bank, before GW34

Currently have 9 players for the 6 fixtures (Mignolet, JEvans, Verm, Caulker, Valencia, Siggy, Sess, Rooney, RVP)

    1. Should I aim get rid of both Shotton and Enrique for a 4pt hit to get 11 on the pitch for the weekend (the 4pt hit feels more like a 2pt hit given near certainty of 2 appearance points vs guaranteed a 0) - contenders McAuley(WBA) and Williams(SWA)/Bardsley(SUN)?

    2. think longer term and get someone like Huth/Shawcross, Kaboul, or Cahill in for Enrique next week and just replace Shotton with McAuley now?

    3. replace Shotton now and ditch Bale & Enrique next week for Barfa & Baines?

    Mig

    Evans Sagna

    Valencia Sess Siggy Moses

    RVP Roon Aguero

Not playing - Cahill, Simpson, Demps and Kelly.

Indeed. I'm playing Dinamo. Got a lead of 8 points in the first leg. He's got Pig (C) as his differential in this leg. So here's hoping Wigan can do enough to keep him quiet.

I don't think that there is any set formula for how many hits you should take in preparation for GW34 and 36. In my opinion, each hit should be worked out on its own merits, with no fixed minimum or maximum. Just because you have already planned one hit, doesn't mean you shouldn't do another one. If your reasons for each hit are sound.

Personally, I don't think that I will be taking any hits. But I would have no problem taking one or more, if I thought it would get me a better final score. I certainly wouldn't tell myself that "one hit is ok, but any more than that is too many"

    Hello folks

    2 things from me

No 1 – 1 spot open in my DGW team, it is a striker spot currently being held for Ade, but given Spurs’ form, Jelavic and Suarez are both coming into contention. Much will be determined by Sunday night when we know who is in the final. Chelsea no in equation right now due to lack of form and rotation.

No 2 . Remember my post analysing the DGW? Well I am working on more, but these will be position by position looks at the options for DGW and beyond. Once again, these will be finalized after the semi’s so you can expect the first one around this time next week.

No RMT from me this week, I have only 11 playing so it is not really an issue and RvP is the most logical captain choice. In fact, GW35 is not much different as Dempsey will be coming in to take the armband.

Just thought I'd put it back out there

He has posted an RMT, he only has 11 out, what's the point?

Unless you have more than 11 available this week (and in that case you're a wee bit screwed for DGW) no point in asking, and RvP is the stand-out choice for captain

Yeah, but it's always much nicer if it's all on the FPL site. Maybe they tried to make it less complicated for the people who aren't that interested in playing properly (much like why they probably added the second wildcard) but it's nice to compare players more easily on the FPL site.

After fart-arsing around for what seems like hours, it is becoming clear to me that the sensible option is to have one Chelski defender in for 36. John Terry is a knob, and Cashley seems to have forgotten to pay his insurance premiums on his ankles. Ivanovic may well be banged up until next season.

    Cahill. Form - 3.8 (about 13th.)

They might not have much in defence to rotate and with Arsenal away, 2 x Barcalona and Spurs in the semi, the team will be in tatters. I'm seriously thinking of ditching Cahill, even for the DGW because Chelsea are about to overload and CS will be rare..

I know and against fulham the whole team was ripped apart by dempsey and frei and adding in a lot of game time(and running around against barca) i would steer away

Yes, but probably the Chelsea defence weeker and less chance of a CS, especially if Terry and Cole are still not fully fit...

With GWs coming thick and fast at the moment, anyone else feeling greedy like me and want the next one to start on Thursday.

Or does that just mean I'm now officially addicted?

You´re officially adicted.. there are some good games to follow on thursday(good teams) and then a day break so you can sort it out if you´re playing 8, 9, 10 or 11 for GW34 and if you want to ditch a DGW36er.

I think that I have convinced myself to get BAE or walker for a hit for the double. An extra game, for a nailed on player means that the hit only costs two points, and would give me much better clean sheet potential over the last 3 weeks, and allow myself to get moses in for the last two.
