Papiss Cisse steals the show with a pair of outrageous finishes at the Bridge. Alan Pardew opts for a 4-4-2 as Newcastle pick up yet another clean sheet, while Chelsea taste defeat at home for the first time under Roberto Di Matteo. Emmanuel Adebayor bags a brace at Bolton, with Rafael Van der Vaart and Gareth Bale both getting amongst the points, as Spurs deliver a huge blow to the Trotters’ survival hopes:

Papiss Cisse
Having twice hit the woodwork at Wigan last weekend, the Newcastle forward returned to goalscoring ways in sensational style at the Bridge last night. Partnered by Demba Ba up top in a switch to 4-4-2, Cisse grabbed two goals of the highest quality as Alan Pardew’s side picked up their seventh win in the last eight to boost their chances of a fourth place finish. Cisse has now scored 13 times in just 12 appearances since moving to Tyneside in January and, with a pair of assists and 20 bonus points also thrown in for good measure, has averaged a sensational 8.4 points per game thus far, way ahead of second placed Robin Van Persie’s 7.0. The transfers in will continue to roll, although Cisse’s final two games are far from straightforward – City arrive on Sunday having returned three clean sheets in four, while a Gameweek 38 trip to Goodison could prove tricky; Everton have picked up seven clean sheets in their last eight at home.

Newcastle Defence
With Danny Simpson missing out for the first time this season, James Perch slotted into the right-back role last night. Bearing in mind that Chelsea had hit six past QPR on Sunday and Newcastle had been thrashed 4-0 at Wigan, an away clean sheet was perhaps unexpected, but the Magpies once again excelled at the back, returning their sixth clean sheet in the last eight Gameweeks. Pardew’s side now welcome Man City to the Sports Direct Arena on Sunday and, given the Magpies’ form at both ends of the pitch, Roberto Mancini’s men will need to deliver a big performance if they are to remain on course for the title.

Rafael Van der Vaart
The Dutchman picked up where he left off against Blackburn on Sunday as Spurs swept aside Bolton at the Reebok. Van der Vaart had grabbed a goal and a couple of bonus points at the Lane in the first match of his double Gameweek and followed that up with a goal, an assist and X bonus points last night. After a barren winter period, he’s been a crucial part on Spurs’ push for fourth with three goals in his last seven starts– with a trip to Villa up next before a home game against Fulham to see out the season, Van der Vaart looks in the mood to rack up more points before the campaign comes to a close.

Gareth Bale
While his goalless streak may have extended to 12 games last night, Bale picked up a couple of assists against the Trotters. With an assist also provided against Blackburn, the Welshman returned a respectable 14 point score for his Fantasy owners over the double Gameweek. Bale has now closed the gap on Clint Dempsey at the top of the midfield rankings; he’s now just 11 points behind the Fulham man and, with those above-mentioned fixtures to follow, is afforded a chance to perhaps overtake Dempsey as the pair go head to head at the Lane in Gameweek 38.

Emmanuel Adebayor
There’s no doubt the on-loan forward can be a frustrating Fantasy option. Adebayor arrived at the Reebok having scored in just one of the previous nine Gameweeks but found his scoring touch to grab a couple of goals against Owen Coyle’s strugglers. The fourth top scoring forward to date this term, he’s still owned by less than 10% of Fantasy managers despite the fact that Adebayor, with 15 goals and 12 assists, has had a hand in more goals for Harry Redknapp’s side than any other player.

          You are 80 points ahead, it's not like you will lose from here, don't just keep Cisse because your rival has him.

    Loss of Evans has really brough on a defenders dilemma for many. So please post the best defender to get. Post 2 options- 1)taking into account the price, 2) money not an issue. Thanks for any thoughts.
    My own opinions are :
    1)Boyce- Wigan 2) Vermaelen

          I'm keeping Enrique. Has to be considered a regular starter and Liverpool have a good record against Chelsea under Kenny. The question is, whether Dalglish wants to give fringe players a run out at the end of the season.

    What to do with this pile of rubbish guys?

    Krul (Mignolet)
    Terry Taiwo Simpson (Caulker) (Evans)
    Dempsey Valencia Bale McClean (Sigurdsson)
    Cisse Jelavic Rooney

    8.3m bank

    The options I'm thinking of are:
    a) Jelavic/Cisse + Evans -> RVP + Vermaelen (-4)
    b) Jelavic/Cisse + McClean -> RVP + Moses (-4)
    c) Jelavic/Cisse + Sigurdsson -> RVP + Pienaar (-4)
    d) Jelavic/Cisse -> RVP (no hit)
    e) Other option

    So what do you guys think? I'm about 35 points ahead in my ML. And what's the argument for who to take out between Jelavic and Cisse?

    Attention Evans owners looking to shift.

    Two words. Emmerson. Boyce.

    Here's the evidence : 25 pts in the last four matches. Wigan have two great fixtures and he only costs 4.3m...leaving even more cash to splash for the potentially crucial Gwk 38.

    In his last six matches he has scored three assists, two bonus plus one goal....not a bad return for a defender.

    I must say... I'm very tempted.

    What are they going to do for the final Sunday games? It will be a complete anti-climax if we have to wait until Monday afternoon.

        Probably. My league's over though and I'm not going to win it so I was thinking, as Chicha is pretty much a guaranteed starter with Dizzy Welbz confirmed to be out, that I'd just have a wee cheeky punt.

    Need some advice, I have no free transfers and 2.3 million in the bank. I'm only 1 point ahead in my mini league and my defense looks to be completely screwed for this GW..

    I can't decide whether to just leave the injured defenders in or take a hit, although with 2 GWs left surely this is a waste of time?!

    Bogdan
    Cahill Evans Vermaelen
    Bale VDV Dempsey Valencia
    RVP (C) Jelavic Aguero

    Subs - Mignolet, Simpson, Siggy, Caulker

    Any suggestions on whether I should take a hit, or is it best to just leave my team as it is?

      Id take 1 hit in that situation, since the injured defenders are too expensive to be just sitting on your bench. I would take out Cahill since Evans is probably back for the final game.

    Morning All,

    GW 37 Team
    Cech
    Hibbert Vermalen Terry
    VDV Valencia Bale Dempsey
    Jelavic Cisse Adebayor

    4.9 million in bank which allows me to do Cisse>Rooney or Adebayor>RVP/Rooney. Which looks the better move?

    Morning all. Giving further thought to captain choices this week, and while the armband currently sits with RVP I am seriously given consideration to switching it back to Rooney, whose stats for home games since Liverpool on 11th Feb look very good reading:

    11/02 Liverpool 13pts
    11/03 WBA 13pts
    26/03 Fulham 6pts
    08/04 QPR 8pts
    15/04 AVL 13pts
    22/04 Everton 13pts

    Surely encouraging stats for anyone considering Rooney for cap this weekend?

        For sure Doos, but with my ML rival having clawed back a 21 pt deficit to 6 pts over the DGW its a decision that coudl make or break my season. He doesn't have Rooney and I don't thnk he can afford to bring him in either, so capping Roo could offer a good diferetial option. Or should I play safe and go with RVP?. What do you reckon?

    Evans>Sagna
    Modric>Valencia
    Sess>Moses

    will be 8 point hit though?

    other option is Evans>Verm
    Sess>Moses
    4 point hit but no Man Utd cover?

    Choose:
    EVANS TO ??

    1. Evra - united would be going for goals. good chances of an odd assist. cs expected.
    2. Verm - norwich home. goal threat. cs maybe. but i already have SAGNA
    3. Boyce - check jonty's post
    4. Kaboul - villa not looking good, Fulham home next.
    5. others

    no hit
