Quarter Finals – Day Two – Dugout Discussion

The second quarter-final of EURO 2012 is less than an hour away, with Germany and Greece doing battle for the right to clinch a place in the last four alongside Portugal. As always, we’ve rolled out the Dugout Discussion ahead of this evening’s 7.45pm kick-off.

The team news is now in and, for many Fantasy managers, it looks like it’s going to be a frustrating night…

Joachim Low makes four changes to the side that saw off Denmark in Germany’s final group game. Jerome Boateng returns at right-back after serving a one-match suspension, with Lars Bender dropping back to the bench. Up front, however, today’s earlier rumours have proven to be true – Marco Reus, Andreas Schurrle and Miroslav Klose are all handed roles in the first XI, with Thomas Muller, Lukas Podolski and Mario Gomez dropping to the bench.

Fernando Santos makes a couple of alterations to the Greece side that stunned Russia last time out. Skipper Giorgos Karagounis is suspended and is replaced in midfield by Grigorios Makos, while up front Theofanis Gekas makes way for Sotiris Ninis.

Germany Starting XI: Neuer; Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm; Khedira, Schweinsteiger; Reus, Ozil, Schurrle – Klose

Greece Starting XI: Sifakis; Torosidis, Papasthopoulos, Papadopoulos, Tzavellas; Makos, Katsouranis, Maniatis; Ninis, Samaras, Salpingidis

    Ozi finally came to play tonight, shame Schweini didn't.

    Ozil deffo man of the match. If he's in this mood against England (should they get through the qtrs) I don't think England stand a chance quite frankly.

    ok one more little whine: I had to be punished for that self-indulgent celebratory post didn't I? Boateng just lost 4 points for me at the end, being allowed just one correct captain choice in the competition isn't too hard to ask is it?! oh well, look on the bright side, Khedira gamble paid off 🙂

    oh well in times like this it pays to remember 1 thing. This is supposed to be a bit of fun, don't let it ruin/run your lives, it won't do any good. I will not be thinking about my sf team (other than that Khedira will be in it) until Monday, we won't know the line-up until then.

        I considered him for this game and went Moutinho instead (until I downgraded Pilar and got Gerrard instead). Like I said, as you know I have stressed more than most about Fantasy Football, and I ask myself why, it's just not worth it, you will have good days and bad, simple.

        I will likely ditch Gerrard, Pirlo, Perreira and one of Rooney or Gomez (or both if England go out and Klose looks like keeping his place)
