Chelsea have this evening announced the signing of 20-year-old Brazilian Oscar from Internacional for a fee, reportedly in the region of £25 million. The young attacking midfielder, who can play centrally or on the flank, is currently on Olympic duty with his national side, offering us Fantasy managers and Chelsea fans the opportunity to assess his talents in the coming month.

Oscar is the latest acquisition by the Champions League winners who have been quick to flex their financial muscles following their triumph in Munich, capturing the likes of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin. The arrival of the South American playmaker is believed to take their Summer spending well beyond the £50 million mark.

For us Fantasy managers, this latest foray into the market adds further doubt to our selection of Chelsea’s attacking assets. Roberto Di Matteo’s side begin their campaign with a double Gameweek, taking on a trip to Wigan and a midweek home clash with newly promoted Reading. While that pair of fixtures offers obvious incentive for investment, Di Matteo’s first choice lineup is becoming more and more difficult to call by the week.

Chelsea face three league games in the space of six days with a home meeting with Newcastle looming in Gameweek 2; realistically Di Matteo will surely be looking to utilise his options to keep his lineup fresh. It looks difficult, perhaps almost impossible, to find an attacking player who is assured of starting all three of those matches.

We can at least presume that Oscar will take time to bed in and be given a number of weeks to acclimatise before being given a full Premier League debut. However, his arrival in the squad will mean that the uncertainty surrounding our Chelsea selections is set to remain long after the double Gameweek has passed.

We’ll bring you a full Scout Report on Oscar, with more analysis on his likely role and impact in the next 24-hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Don't usually do RMTs but what the hell.

    De Gea - Jassk
    Baines - Cole A - Clichy - Rafael - Demel
    Bale - Sinclair - Taarabt - Noble - Frei
    Aguero - Torres - Pog

    2 mil in the bank for standard Torres -> Rooney

      I would downgrade Baines and upgrade Sinclair or Taarabt to someone like Hazard. The rest looks fine.

      Too expensive defence. Downgrade 1 or 2 - Baines and Rafeal and upgrade your mids.

      As you have DeGea you could downgrade Rafael to Hangeland. Not too sure about Sinclair.

      Too much in GK/DEF imo.
      If you really want 3 big hitters in DEF, downgrade your GKs to a 9.5/10 rotation.
      Otherwise, go with DDG and have 2 x 6.5m DEFs with a 3 team cheapy rotation.
      That should enable you to make Pog bigger or Sinclair bigger.

      This is a message for you. You didn't say please or thank you in your original RMT.
      You have now gone over half an hour without responding even though four kind people have endeavored to help you.
      I wouldn't normally be so grumpy but as your RMT was top of this page, I just thought I'd come back and give out.

      And to ROYSCALLERANNE; I thought I was going to get an email if there were any responses, only to check this afternoon and find there were plenty of replies. Sorry about that. Thankyou for your reply in particular, very detailed. 🙂

      Fergie's such a rotationist, I find it hard to justify Utd coverage unless there's an obvious defensive option (potentially so) or if Rooney's in one of his scoring streaks (?) or if one of the wingers seems to be in form and in favour...

      mmm...

      Wouldn't need too much of a reshuffle. Not bothered by any Manc defenders ATM so I really should make Rooney available.

      Then again, he looked terrible two years ago, excellent this time last year and now I'm not convinced.

      Rooney & DDG and Lescott & Aguero - All 4 players in from the start and in for the season - United & City covered in defence and attack from start to finish with top captaincy options to boot - As simple as that.

        Rooney and Aguero did not perform to their price tags for the entire 38 games past year.
        DDG is too expensive. Mancini is in for another LB and CB. If Mancini doesn't buy then Clichy and/or Lescott will definitely feature in my team, though.

          If Van Persie is to leave, then I feel anyone who goes outside of Rooney and Aguero for their captaincy options will get burned in the long run. Players like Hazard, Giroud, Tevez, Adebayor or whoever ultimately won't match them.

          Number one priority in this game is getting the right captains into your team, and making sure that side of your squad is planned out.

            You can just as easily get burnt if you blindly stick with the same two players on a rotation for captain without considering other factors.

            Obviously there will be options from Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea. Not to mention forwards from other teams, the Jelavics/Bents/Cisses can all deliver. Dempsey wherever he is. I'll probably captain Nolan a few times this season.

          I would definitely disagree with DDG being too expensive as well, him being a million less than Hart is truly baffling to me. Someone from lower down is going to have to have a Vorm-like season to make him not a decent keeper.

            Keepers are all about value. Yes when I first saw his price, I was convinced that he was the first name on my team sheet, but keepers are not where this game is won and lost. That 1.5 I've saved will be put towards other players in my team with muh more potential output.

      Not really. Unless you want De Gea (are 6m goalkeepers really worth it?) or Rooney, there is too much uncertainty. Nani, Valencia, Young and Kagawa are all good options with great point scoring potential, but it'll take until at least GW3 to get a sense of who is playing where and who is performing well.

      Personally, I'll have Torres for the double in GW1, but then be more likely to swap him for Jelavic than Rooney for Everton's run of villa, west brom, newcastle, swansea, southampton, wigan and qpr.

    Poor Spearing - he has not got the passing range of Joe Allen. The sooner Rogers adds to this squad the better as delaying on transfers is simply gonna reflect on the start to the season.

    Really need to get a buzz into the Club - even from an FPL perspective not a great deal of attraction there 🙁

        I hope so - Allen is very very good at ball retention and pass and move - whilst Spearing gives 100% he does lack the technical qualities needed to compete but is a great squad player.

        Appreciate Lucus took time to settle but that was largely due to new country at a young age and he adapted superbly prior to bad injury 🙁

      I think (hope) there could be some good roughies coming out of Liverpool. If cole or aqua get some game time - which could happen with a passing / possession type of manager - both would be handy prospects @ 6.0. Also Gerrard @ 9.5 and Suarez are both good chances offensively once their fixtures lighten up.

      Heck, even Reina and Srktel are good defensive options and I don't even like pool.

    Just been giving my mate some guidance on his team. He's never been that into football and doesn't care too much about FPL. This is what we came up with:

    Foster Given
    Terry Clichy Rafael Huth Simpson
    Taarabt Moses McClean Sinclair Walters
    Torres Balotelli Podolski

        It's his choices not mine. He has limited depth of knowledge, so I help out here and there.

        I do hate all the template teams though. Every one of those players could seem absolutely must-have by gameweek 4.

      Too much spent in backline. Go Huth to my main man Wilson. Downgrade one of your mid price mids to Noble. I would go
      Huth --> Wilson
      Moses ---> Noble
      Walters --> Hazard
      Balotelli---> Tevez
      Terry --> Ivanovic
      Clichy---> Lescott

      These will take a couple of risks out of your team at this stage
      Love the Podolski pick!

      The cash is too spread in my opinion. Too much spent on defence and no clear plan. I personally think the cheap midfield has a lot of potential this season and my midfield is not dissimilar. Difference is I have Aguero and Rooney up front with Torres,,,,really not sure about Podolski and Balotelli…..Also too much spent on keepers.

              I like it. Obvious worry about the keeper (but I understand you can't have everything covered). Lack of United a worry and I personally think VDV is a better punt than Siggy. I think Siggy will replace Modric and play deeper (like he did at Crewe).

                I love Siggy, he's pure quality. Pretty much first name on my teamsheet this season. As a Gooner there'll be some conflicted emotions this season.

                I've looked at keeper rotation over the whole season, and Ruddy and Davis means I can avoid playing a keeper against City, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal all season. The worst fixtures where I have to play a keeper are away at Fulham a couple of times and away at Spurs once.

                  I like the justification with the keepers. Definitely some punts there. I think it is safe to say that you will either be doing well come the first few weeks or playing catch up. ( I am in the same boat). I think punts are the way to go (as long as they have reason and logic behind them (which yours obviously do).

        another thing. if he's likely to miss deadlines i'd consider 1 big keeper to play in almost every game. if taking the hands-off approach i'd worry that he'd be likely to lose points to the bench quite often and, more worryingly, have a keeper playin away to city or some such thing and get negative points

    A penny for your thoughts...
    Silva trumps aguero for a city attacking option. If tevez stays, aguero may see less game time and as far as I'm concerned, silva is more nailed on than any because of his diversity. Guaranteed to maintain his gametimenfrom last term and is 1.5 cheaper than aguero.

    Or you just go both and spare the pain of deciding

      Didn't Aguero come out of his shell (slump) when Tevez started playing last year? When Tevez does play it frees Aguero up to play further upfield as Tevez works back to meet the ball in midfield. Aguero more likely to explode with a 15 point GW than Silva.

      If you can afford it have both imo

      I think silva is a lock. Should be the main man in the hole again. For city attack I have taken a punt on Tevez. He finished the year well last year and if gets the same game time as aguero he is a lock for 9.0.

      The way I see it is Silvas a constant stream of 5 to 8 point gws. Aguero will get more 2 pt & more 9+ pt gw's.
      Silvas more consistent but aguero's potential has a higher ceiling and more explosive captain scores.
      I'd rather aggy personally.

      Nice, Martin to Cuellar and get rid of either Friedel or Walker.

      Love the Frei punt! 😆

        Thanks. Yeah, I don't like Martin there so I may have to change him. I'll probably keep Friedel and Walker until at least GW5 unless something goes horribly wrong before then.
