Chelsea have this evening announced the signing of 20-year-old Brazilian Oscar from Internacional for a fee, reportedly in the region of £25 million. The young attacking midfielder, who can play centrally or on the flank, is currently on Olympic duty with his national side, offering us Fantasy managers and Chelsea fans the opportunity to assess his talents in the coming month.

Oscar is the latest acquisition by the Champions League winners who have been quick to flex their financial muscles following their triumph in Munich, capturing the likes of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin. The arrival of the South American playmaker is believed to take their Summer spending well beyond the £50 million mark.

For us Fantasy managers, this latest foray into the market adds further doubt to our selection of Chelsea’s attacking assets. Roberto Di Matteo’s side begin their campaign with a double Gameweek, taking on a trip to Wigan and a midweek home clash with newly promoted Reading. While that pair of fixtures offers obvious incentive for investment, Di Matteo’s first choice lineup is becoming more and more difficult to call by the week.

Chelsea face three league games in the space of six days with a home meeting with Newcastle looming in Gameweek 2; realistically Di Matteo will surely be looking to utilise his options to keep his lineup fresh. It looks difficult, perhaps almost impossible, to find an attacking player who is assured of starting all three of those matches.

We can at least presume that Oscar will take time to bed in and be given a number of weeks to acclimatise before being given a full Premier League debut. However, his arrival in the squad will mean that the uncertainty surrounding our Chelsea selections is set to remain long after the double Gameweek has passed.

We’ll bring you a full Scout Report on Oscar, with more analysis on his likely role and impact in the next 24-hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Neither. You'll have to see how he does over the first 2 weeks. If he does well, keep him. If he doesn't, by all means make the switch. But not necessarily to Bale, it depends how he, VDV and Sigurdsson click...

The point being there's no point planning your transfers now. The first two weeks will turn everything on it's head.

Jonjo played well, though gave up possession a couple of times in bad positions, leading to Roma counters.

He'll get a few first team games if doesn't get loaned out. The Liverpool midfield at the moment is very crowded.

      Manners get you everywhere....

Double Chelsea defence a risk with blank in GW3 - other injuries/playing time issues could mean you have to roll out a back 3 of McCartney, Fonte, Gorkass week 3.

Kagawa could be down graded to a proven EPL performer allowing you to upgrade Bent or Pog.

Think the rest of the team is rock solid. All the best for the year ahead.

He's getting on and they can afford to give him plenty of rests to keep him fresh. Seems his role has changed now too. When they were winning titles he was the main creator & scorer from midfield, the go to guy. These days he plays more of a tidy passing game from deep. As long as he gets game time he'll score goals though.

Is Sam Baldock going to be a starter for West Ham this season? Otherwise i will be going with Pog.
Also i can go with Pienaar + Noble -> N. Dyer + Nolan?

    Decisions, decisions

    Currently my first draft is;

    De Gea, Foster

Cole, S. Taylor, Tomkins, ShawX, Lescott

    Kagawa, Hazard, Pienaar, Park, Noble

    Torres, Tevez, Pog

2 mil in bank for Torres to Rooney in gw2

Any feedback appreciated, good luck this season to everyone

      Hey mate,

As you can see from below we've gone down a similar path in some respects.

I had Hazard until I went to post and then switched to Bale. I'll probably switch back soon.

I like S Taylor - if he can stay fit and if Pienaar can replicate his form from late last season he's a bargain.

      Good team

    Hey guys,

Was just about to post my RMT as Roma put one past Liverpool with ease -doesn't bode wewll for the season.

Anyway here's my first ever RMT so all advice welcome.

    De Gea (Jaski)
    Cole, Clichy, Hangeland, Williams, (Fabio)
    Bale, Kagawa, McClean, Adam, (Beausejour)
    Torres, Tevez, (Progrebnysk)

    2 left in bank.

    A few PODs.

Some punts on players coming back into old form.

    Thoughts?

        No I have N/Zogbia there.

If he can rediscover his 2010/2011 form he'll be a bargain pick up.

I'm still flexible on that fourth mid spot and will see how pre-season/team selection plays out.

This is for anyone that's convinced themselves tevez is a viable alternative to kun.

" I think all the good teams are interested in him. At this moment Van Persie is one of the best strikers in Europe with Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli."

This is from a couple months ago before balo killed it at euro. Clear indication tevez is 3rd choice striker. You've been warned 🙂

This is a great question I hope gets cleared up. Cole is sure for a place but I like Ivan for goal threat. If he's nailed i'm going with Ivan.

Surprised Southampton assets are seemingly completely overlooked. Think Lambert is worth a punt at 6m as well as Lallana in the mid at 6m, especially considering they were good going forward last year. I expect them to have a good season so can't understand why they have been completely overlooked.

got lallana, pretty sure he takes a mean corner, 6m is quite a lot for a promoted player though, likes of sinclair/tarrabet were that price last year

Lallana is a bit overpriced I think. I agree Lambert looks a good option but I'd like to see how he adapts to the Premiership first.

    bale - silva - taarabt - maloney - frei

    aguero - torres - bent

    2.5 in the bank
2.0 for torres=rooney or aguero=rooney if i want with 1.5 left for to upgrade when the season starts
    0.5 left for upgrade

only done 1 change today hazard=silva , kind of proud of myself

yes either him or aguero [c] dont want to get a midfielder with all the uncertainty. may still get a chelsea def but with that 1.5 extra i have 3 nailed on defenders in hangeland, coloccini, williams

or put chelsea player in gw1, then play team for two weeks. you then have two free transferes gw3 to move chelsea player out

I'd say you could do better with your defence. Shuffle things around to fit in at least one Chelsea/United/Citeh defender

Never hurts to plan, especially when the story adds up.

I think he has a better than 50% chance of signing and hence it's worth guessing a price.

Since Walcott is 9.0, Gervinho is 7.5, Ox is 7.5 and Ramsey (his direct competitor possibly) is somewhere lower, I think he may come in around 8 considering his starting prospects and threat.

          |n fact, looking at that closer, since he's unproven here and the midfield is quite full, possibly even 7.5 like the rest of them.

I'd even be tempted to put him in from the start if he was 7.5. I think it would be more like 8.0 - 8.5 though.

Let's go back to the drawing board...

If the first few GWs will turn everything on its head, making specific plans useless...

Isn't the best GW1 team the most flexible one?

Here's one suggestion - triple heavy hitter attack of Aguero, Rooney and Torres. You can instantly raise 4m to get a trending midfielder by downgrading to credible options like Graham etc, or you can switch to pretty much any trending striker because they are virtually the most expensive strikers in the game.

The only team I can think of that is more flexible is one where you leave cash in the bank. I can't face that 😉

Yep I'm leaving 3.5m in the bank GW1. Gives riskier players such as Tevez and Torres a chance to shine.
