        FPL wise it might help with the odd cleanie as Collins is an experienced CB but no, it won't threaten his starting spot. Demel's own 'ability' will do that soon enough 😉

    I don't get the Hangeland love? Fulham kept 11 CS last season compared to the 13 in the previous season. What did not help was that Ful was very unpredictable at home last season, nocthing more CS away from home I think.

    I suppose his selection is based on the goal scoring potential?(he scored 6 in the 2010/11 season) But Murphy has gone, Dempsey doesn't want to play for Fulham...why the sudden love for the guy?

      I agree. Cuellar is a better option at a cheaper price and Newcastle/Swans defense at the same. Jol never inspires a lot of confidence defensively as well. I'm avoiding for now 😀 Investing in the Ful attack is all

          Petric. My argument is i wanted one nailed on attacker from both Fulham and Swansea. Dempsey - don't know what his situation is going to be and other than that, Swansea offer more attractive midfielders vs. Fulham.

          Also, i had Graham a lot lost year. A little bored of him now

            Cool. Yeah the Dempsey situation is buggering me around. I like Ful fixtures early on, but if Clint doesn't want to be at ful we will have another Cesc situation when he wanted to leave Arsenal. it can't be good for team morale.

            I have Graham at the moment. I have never owned him and doubt I have ever seen him score! I was surprised with the pts he got last season when I looked.

            Petric will be good. Jelavic mkII i think.

            I just checked and they finished 7th best away and 14th best at home for goals conceded, I recall they were 5th best away in gw35 when I was doing a Scouting the Doubles piece.

          I would say don't invest in the United midfield unless you see what fergie settles on. Most reliable options from that midfield are Nani and Valencia if you ask me.

        It's was a tactic employed last year with aguero and dzeko when they were both rotated and scoring.

        Complete overkill IMO as one will steal points from the other in most instances.

    whats everyones thoughts on Hazard and Marin ? I recently watched them both play at the chelsea sounders game and honestly was more impressed with Marin. But i have to think with all the money chelsea payed for Hazard he will probably get alot more playing time.

      Have seen little of Hazard but wasn't impressed with him v England at Wembley. Reminded me a bit of a very young Cristiano Ronaldo - lots of tricks but little end product. Might be dynamite by the end of the year though

    Arsenal to have £18m Cazorla bid accepted today(According to Spanish Reports)..

    The Spanish report reads:-
    "The sale of Cazorla seems decided. It is most likely that the Spaniard never again wear the white shirt (of Malaga), unless a miracle occurs. The transfer of the most expensive player in club history (cost 19 million) to Arsenal in a week seems unstoppable uncertain and crucial for the immediate future of Malaga. The team likely will be without one of its most prominent symbols.

    Between Monday and Tuesday were two meetings to finalize the sale of Cazorla. The two clubs met to try and direct a way this operation, which had previously been controlled by player agents.

    Malaga, in principle, thought to retain the player, but the circumstances have been changing over the weeks. Arsenal managed to do their part to the player's agent, who always went for the exit of Cazorla with the aim of advancing a football as attractive as English.     Fabio is nailed on at LB for us . Diakite , Faurlin and Hoilett were all missing last night so I assume Hughes wanted to mix it up.

    Unless he suddenly has learned to defend, Traore won't be starting at LB for us . If he was going to play there Hughes would not have loaned Taiwo or Fabio both to fill that need. Fabio will start at LB against Swansea and will stay there all season long. Of that I'm sure

    Did we ever establish whether A Hughes and Cuellar are actually nailed on starters? If so, surely both nailed on picks given a price of 4.5m each?

      They both have a decent chance of establishing a regular spot in the 1st XI but who knows? Not sure MON and Jol have even decided yet.

          It's a risk that can be worth taking though. Like RVP last season, everyone expected him to shatter his glass legs, but instead he killed it. Get him in at the right time, get him out at the right time.

            I didn't expect RVP to get injured and I had him in from the beginning.

            Anyway, you can't compare RVP to VDV. RVP was the player with the best shots on target per minute ratio, 100% on all set pieces, the main attacking outlet for one of the most attacking teams in the league, captain etc.

            VDV is no doubt fantasy gold when he hits form and plays in 'the hole' but he is inconsistent FPL-wise often finds himself pushed out wide/rotated/taken off after 60 minutes.

              Yeah not a direct comparison. Nobody can compare to RVP, but you get what I'm saying.

              The season before last VDV reached almost 'essential' status. I get what you're saying though, and much of it also depends on siggy.

              He could be a massive flop, but he could also be the one leading the points. It's these calculated risks that you've got to take from time to time if you want to aim high.

                That's true. He certainly has the potential! He was my preferred Spurs cover last season until I finally gave in to Bale.

                I think for me it's one of those that I'll give a miss and look to 'jump on' if he shows sign of consistency. I think he's actually injured at the moment and Bale seems to have been given a licence to play wherever he wants by AVB! For me it's Bale unless I'm forced to reconsider.

    Getting the right midfielders this year is so so difficult..There are so many 6-6.5 players who could easily explode and at the same time could also become 2 point magnets...

    Don't know if it's been mentioned yet but there have been more pointless and disruptive friendly internationals announced on August 15th.

    Not aware of all of them (only the ones which potentially affect Newcastle in fact) but those ones are:

    Germany - Argentina (Coloccini has been called up)
    France - Uruguay (Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Debuchy if he signs may be affected)
    Belgium - Netherlands (Krul may be affected)
    Russia - Ivory Coast (Tiote may be affected)

    Will look into it further but I'm sure there'll be plenty more posts about this before long, obviously there are a lot of fairly high profile players who could be carrying knocks/tired when the season kicks off...

        Dont like Clichy because he is not nailed on. Don't like siggy but just because it's slightly risky and bale seems a better option. Everton start slow so Jelavic is another slight risk unless you really feel Everton will start well. Chelsea attacking coverage needed. Maybe bring mata/Torres in.

            my plan is to get Jelavic in for either Tevez/Aguero in gw4 cause he will be much better valute than pienaar i belive

            Pinaar has been great in last few matches for Everton but if you check his pervious seasons he wasn't so impressive at all

            i feel that Jelly will be inloved in like 70% of Everton goals as well

              Yeah, I kind of figured I would need to upgrade Graham to Jelavic around gw 4-13, but I also like New fixtures 9-15. So it's one of Pienaar/Jelavic and Cisse/Ba/Cabaye for me.

              Maybe silva in midf with Cisse/Jelavic/Rooney in the front?

      Silva you can put in and forget about(I bought and sold him 2 or 3 times last season! LOL)

      The thing is I won't ever feel comfortable putting the (c) on Silva if Citeh have a good fixture, i'd prefer Kun.

      If Aguero gets injured or Tevez gets an extended run(and does well) I might rethink it.

        +1 Silva gets an assist or a goal in most weeks so is a great season keeper but he rarely gets more than 1 goal or assist in a match and hence doesn't get bonus either. Not especially great to captain a 6 pointer when Aguero gets a brace.
