It’s the first Monday Night Football installment of the season, and we’re at Goodison Park to see Everton host Manchester United. The build-up to this game has surrounded around the arrival of Robin van Persie at Manchester United, and how he would feature this evening. Everton XI: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Distin, Jagielka, Neville, Osman, Fellaini, Pienaar, Gibson, Jelavic.
Man United XI: De Gea, Valencia, Vidic, Carrick, Evra, Cleverley, Kagawa, Scholes, Nani, Welbeck, Rooney.

Sir Alex Ferguson chooses to start just one of his two major signings, and it’s the Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa that makes his United debut. It’s a makeshift defence with Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick filling the gaps. Robin van Persie starts on the bench.

As for the hosts, David Moyes names a familiar looking side, leaving new signing Steven Naismith on the bench.

I've seen United bounce back from from defeat with a thrashing too many times not to get cover in next week. Could you get a bigger hint than Fulham coming up at home next? Rooney is blatantly still on penalties for me - I can't resist.

    I can't know - hence I said "for me" to indicate it was my opinion - but in my view penalty takers are changed after a penalty is missed. Rooney has missed a few before, but he was still on them at the end of last season.

Despite playing furthest forward, RVP was playing as creator too tonight. He was doing what he often did in games for Arsenal when they couldn't score - drifted left and right to pick up passes in the corners and then slung a cross in. Perfect example - his cutback to Kagawa that could have been the equalizer.

        So it's as I suspected, the midfield still hasn't clicked. But it's to be expected to be honest, it wasn't a familiar midfield with Carrick at CB and Cleverley and Kagawa the new boys. Gotta give it time.

Guys, is there a way that I can somehow check how many points hits I took last season? I get a feeling I did too many...hence my poor overall ranking in the end.

I am being very strict with myself this season and limiting my points hits and much as possible, hopefully keep it under 20-26.
